IMac :: Viewing Interlaced Videos On Screen

Jan 11, 2011

I'd like to watch some of my TV DVDs on my iMac, but when I do, it deinterlaces. What I'd like to see is 50 field per second smooth motion, not rubbishy 25 fps "filmised" motion with combing artifacts. Is this possible, and if so, how do you do it?

Software :: Viewing Videos From Safari?

Dec 24, 2008

I just got a new Mac after a long long time....

So I want to watch videos downloaded from the internet, either M3U or PLS . The files seem to be automatically transfered to itunes for playing, and yet it is not able (maybe not compatible?) to play these types of files...

I have tried opening these files with other applications: Quick Time or Adobe Flash Player as the video supplier advises...but nothing happens..as I assume they are already itune files...

Software :: Disable/re-enable Screensaver When Viewing Videos?

Jan 2, 2007

I'm running the latest MacOS X on my new MacBook Pro. What I'd like to do is have the screensaver get automatically disabled when I view videos, and then to have it re-enabled when I am finished viewing.

Under Linux, I accomplished this by wrapping the invocation dialog of my video viewer in a script which turns off the screensaver, runs the viewer, and then turns on the screensaver again when the viewer exits. Is there a way to do something similar under MacOS X? ... maybe with AppleScript?

Yes, I know that I can manually turn off the screensaver, view the video, and the turn the screensaver back on. And I also know that I can move the mouse or interact with the keyboard periodically when viewing. However, I don't want to have to do either of these things ... I'd like this to be fully automated, if possible.

Safari :: How To Download YouTube Videos For Offline Viewing

Jun 28, 2012

What has happened to video downloads in YouTube? In the Activity window I used to be able to option double click on the video file and it would download so that I can view offline. Now I notice that video files are broken into 1.7MB pieces and have an expiry time (I think(?)). Is this YouTube's attempt at controlling piracy? So how can someone download these videos for offline viewing? I don't do this to pirate anything.

Its simply that its more convenient to have it on my disk for a short period of time so that I can view it when offline or want to have much quicker access to the video e.g. I have been following some tutorials on playing the guitar. Often I need to start and stop and search through the video for a particular segment. If I have to wait for the video to load from YouTube it takes some seconds or minutes which can be quite frustrating.

MacBook Pro :: GPU Over Heats When Viewing Videos On Safari... How To Make It Cool

May 8, 2010

Not sure if anyone else has this problem or not, I noticed on my 2007 model MacBook Pro, that when I view videos through either Safari, Firefox or any other browser, my GPU temp goes up to around 81 degree celsius unless fans kick in OR I set them to kick in.

I observe temp using iStat Widget.

On the other hand, I just finished watching a movie on my very same laptop through VLC, that is through a media player and not through flash and noticed that temperature barely hit 63 degree celsius. I know flash still has issues and that this will not probably improve with my model ever in the future, but is it normal and should I live with it?

MacBook Air :: Vertical Viewing Angles - Screen Straight On Or From Above

Oct 23, 2010

In the brief reviews I've seen, the Macbook Air is credited with great viewing angles. I just bought the 11" base model. While the horizontal viewing angles are great, the vertical ones are modest. It's definitely decent if you look at the screen straight on or from above, but it fades quickly and inverts when you look at it from below level even to a modest degree. I have the 2008 unibody aluminum Macbook; the one that was quickly renamed the Macbook Pro and provided with a better screen and an SD slot. To me, the viewing angles are definitely improved but I don't have a Macbook Pro to compare it with, or the previous generation Air.

MacBook Air :: Screen Viewing Angle And Color Prospective

Jun 18, 2009

I have used mba 80gb 64ssd and used unibody macbook and white macbook. I see lots of discussion here about the screen on MBA being one of the best out of the entire line up of macs. Where can I notice this? Is it video playing is it the screen colors? Looking at it from the side? I know lots of people talk about the new MBP screen being too glossy, isn't it the same glossy as the air? One guy on a thread on here showed pics of his old air vs the new and screen color on new was like dull but if you didn't compare it to that old one it would look just fine. How does one go about knowing he has a good screen or is it just a matter of preference? Cause lines I can understand but colors maybe not.

Software :: Finding Quicktime Full Screen Viewing

Aug 16, 2008

I am trying to down load some college lectures from the Annenberg media educational site. I have tried a coupe different ways, including as a movie file.

I have also discovered the fact that I then have the option to "Save as Quicktime movie" which provides a fine quality file for viewing -- except it is tiny, and I cannot seem to find "Enter Full Screen" or any other option.

It is frustrating because while doing this, at some point I did stumble on a fell screen option (or double, fit, etc.) which has seemingly disappeared. The QT file is called "Western_Tradition_35.asf (video/x-ms-wmv Object)". When there, the File dropdown gives me only a Zoom option which is no help for the picture.

MacBook Pro :: Screen Freezing While Watching Videos?

Jul 21, 2009

i've noticed for a while now that everytime i watch videos on my macbook pro, using vlc player, sometimes the video picture would stop, and or stutter, if it would stop, the audio would go on, but the video remains stop, after a few seconds, before the video would resume, the video would be distort or scrambled for a few seconds before it would come back to normal, it had been happening for some time now, i thought it was just the software, so i tried another player, the mplayer for mac, and it still would stop at random times. but last night, after stuttering for every 10 minutes while watching the video, the screen on my macbook pro freezed. i cannot do anything, but my mouse is movable, and the caps lock on the keyboard still lights, but i cannot do anything but to do a hard reset, it is the first time that has happened to me, the screen freezing, and i don't know if it has anything to do with the stuttering of the video.
