My Mum and Dad have given me their old iMac g3 and I have no use for it as we have been unable to get the Internet or anything for me to do on it. I really love it and so I am desperately trying to find an excuse to keep it so I thought about using it to play DVDs on, but when I tried I couldn't get it to work!

After I unzip it there are 2 folders BDMV and certificate and if I go into BDMV I will see many sub folders where one is called stream and inside have heaps m2ts files and one which is the largest and I assume thats the one I wanna watch. My question is does anyone know how to play m2ts files on mac or just be able to play blu ray files (not blu ray disc). I think this must be an exact rip of the video from its original blu-ray disc. I have tried VLC but it didn't work.

I am somewhat a new person using a mac and I know this can be done with a windows computer. I was wondering if there is a way to play audio sources from my MBP to an iMac while using the speaker on both computers. Does it revolve around the "Audio MIDI Setup"? In my workplace I can play my music when the customers are not around or if it is after hours. I have my iMac at one side of the store but i'm unable to hear it when I walk into the back. I wonder if I can play my music, from both computer at the same time.

It uploaded several discs then had trouble uploading one. When I put the next cd in to upload it made a few strange whirling sounds then ejected the disc. It didn't get mounted the the desktop either.
I tried it first thing in the morning when the machine was freshly started and not hot but nothings working.

I'm converting from a PC to a iMac and am having trouble with movies playing that I've transferred. My MPEG movies show on the Mac as File Type "MPEG Movie" and my WMV files show as File Type "Plain Text". When I click either of these on it gives me an error that says the files are not movie files and they cannot be played.
What do I have to do to get these movies to play on the Mac?
I have a Late 2009 27" iMac. I'm running Parallels so I can use ACAD LT 2010. If I load a music CD without Parallels running, no problem: it loads and plays fine. As soon as I start Parallels (with Win XP Pro) the CD contents disappear from iTunes and a couple mp3's are all I get (listed from the XP side of things I guess...) I have checked the obvious things. The CD drive is set to share. Beyond that, I really can't come up with anything in my pocking around with settings.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI resurrected this Mac recently and I know it's old etc but Apple did keynote videos back when this machine was released didn't they? So what's changed, surely this iMac should play simple web based video like that. It just stutters and stops ,stutters vid gets blocky then I get the beachball. Some video will play fine, some wont, especially on YT etc but on Apples own site. Btw it is a 500MHz graphite G3 with 1Gb RAM, with recent fresh install of Tiger and fully upto date.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI was waiting to buy a new Macbook Pro but as soon as they were released today I said "meh" and decided maybe I should buy a brand new iMac and keep my Early 08 MBP. I want to get a new Mac in preparation for the upcoming launch of Steam on OS X and just because mine is long in the tooth for Windows gaming.
Anyways... I just had a thought and was wondering if any owners could clear it up. The resolution on the 27 i7 Quad Core seems ENORMOUS for a middle-grade ATI GPU. Are you able to game on high settings for semi-modern games like L4D2, TF2, etc. at the 27"'s native resolution? What are your thoughts on it as a gaming machine. It seems like the 27" will obsolete itself quicker than a i5/i7 21 inch (if one ever comes out) due to the screen resolution size.
