I went to download the new limewire 5 version, downloaded and installed it fine but when i go to launch it says i have JAVA 1.5 and need 1.6. so i got to Java's website and it says to just run apple software update i run that and it says im completely updated. Did they not make a Java update for Power PC macs? did limewire decide to phase out all non intel macs? anyone used the new limewire 5?

View 12 Replies View RelatedWhen I first got my iMac (OSX 10.5.2 with Leopard) I had no problem capturing audio/video in iMovie using my built-in iSight. Lately however I get a strange, undulating phase-cancellation sound appearing on the audio track about 10 seconds after I start recording. I can't hear this through my Mac when I'm recording, only during playback. It completely messes up my guitar movies. I have since downloaded iMovie '06 but I get the same problem there too. Is there a fault with my internal mic? What else could be wrong?
View 7 Replies View RelatedHelp! My internal fans speed up on boot (sounds like a jet engine!) and don't ever stop! My machine doesn't get past this phase, either. I have reset the SMC, and was cleaning the system for dust, etc, just before this situation occurred. After the cleaning, I was able to boot up fine. Then I had to re-open the machine and adjust something. I put the panel back on, rebooted, and the fans churned up like a Blackhawk helicopter, and didn't stop!  So, I unplugged the power supply, waited ten minutes, then reconnected the power supply and powered the machine on. The same result! The fans just don't stop. Â

My Powebook G4 12" (model A1010) during its start-up phase remains stuck on the "initial gray screen" without displaying the apple logo. However, I can access the system through the console provided by Open Firmware.Â
I would like to ask you what could be the problem and where such problem may reside (hard drives, memory, main board, etc).
I can't seem to get the 10.7.4 update to work. It constantly freezing at the "moving items into place" phase. I let it run overnight and it's still frozen. I have to restore from time machine backup each time.

I don't use limewire but this guy at the Apple store told me that its very bad for macs. He said to imagine a mac like a spider web and limewire like a stick messing it all up (Interesting metaphor huh? He looked just like Buddah too) So does anybody know how Limewire is bad for a mac?

I learned on the internet that the only way to get around this was to buy Mac Leopard and I'm not about to do that for Limewire. So I thought I would take another route and try to install an older version of Limewire and get around not having Java 1.6 that way. I downloaded Limewire 4.18.8 from this web page: [UR:] . When I open the installer on the computer, I click "Continue' on the first page, I choose to install the application on my hard drive, I get to the Install page, and click "Install." It then tells me: "You cannot continue. There is nothing to install."

I have only a couple of gigs of space left on my hard drive of my otherwise perfectly fine imac. Looking on the drive I see two folders which combined take up around 80 gigs of space. One is titled "systems copy" and is dated from 5 years ago, and the other is called "Applications copy" and is similarly dated. These could be from when the machine had major repairs back in 2007, but as I didn't create them I'm not sure. I don't see these on my newer macbook drive, so I'm wondering whether they are necessary.

Her solution was to download LimeWire again and install. No luck with that. Also can not get other P2P filesharing programs to load after download and install.

i updated, restarted my computer and now when i try to open it it says
"this application requires java 1.6 or later, but only the following java versions are installed:1.5.0, 1.4.2, 1.3.1, 1.5, 1.3, 1.4. updating to a newer version of mac os x may resolve this."
i know i can update os x, but that will cost me $129!

Okay I'm thinking that my iMac 20" (a1224) has a virus after I started playing with Limewire...When I press the power button the only thing I receive is the Apple logo and the spinner below it as if something is about to happen but it never does. I even let it sit overnite hoping for something and no results. I purchased the computer from some random so there is no disc.
