View 3 RepliesI switched from Ubuntu to Mac OS X 10.9.4 today at work. I'm already using Mac OS X on my private MacBook since two years now. We're using Cisco Jabber at work and I remember the Messages App to also support the XMPP protocol. So I added a new account, entered my credentials, the Jabber server and its port. All worked fine at first. Chatting with people using clients other than the original Cisco Jabber (either for Windows or for Mac) worked fine. But every message I'm receiving from someone using Cisco Jabber starts with an underscored "Subject" text. I don't think this is sent from Cisco Jabber as part of the text because I did not have such problems with receiving messages using Pidgin in 12 months.
So: Is there a way to turn this off or is it really sent by Cisco Jabber and Pidgin simply ignored it all the time?

I had approximately 15 draft emails. They were stored on computer, i.e. the setting "Store draft messages on server" was NOT checked. I re-used those messages often in my business. I am on Mail version 5.2 (1257) and Lion 10/7
Suddenly the whole folder disappeared.
None of the draft messages are in my email account on the server - and they are all gone (deleted?) from on the computer. In other words, I currently see none of my long and quite important Drafts anywhere. Is there any other way to find these drafts and bring them back?

bug with the 10.6.5 update and sent messages in my Mail program. I use Gmail via IMAP, and since the update, all my sent messages seem to have disappeared. Has anyone else encountered this and/or does anyone know how to force Mail to re-download the headers? Simply right-clicking the Sent Messages mailbox and hitting "Synchronize" doesn't seem to work.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThe first time I opened my Safari browser after installing Maverick, I clicked on the wrong thing & closed my browser window where you search & the web addresses show up & where you can refresh the page. How do I reopen it so i don't have to go to the menu bar everytime I need to search for a new page or refresh the existing one?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a 27" mid-2011 iMac - today I upgraded it to 16GB RAM and added an SSD (in addition to the existing hard drive). The memory upgrade I performed myself but the SSD upgrade was done by a qualified tech. Now my internal speakers no longer appear as an audio output device, instead I have a "digital out / optical digital-out port".
I cannot adjust the volume (my menu bar volume icon is greyed out) and no sound plays either through the speakers or connected headphones once I login, however I hear the startup chime when I first turn it on, so this doesn't appear to be a hardware problem - it is perhaps a driver issue?
Is there any way I can rectify this without reinstalling OS X? I plan to install Yosemite on the SSD once it's out but would prefer to wait rather than installing Mavericks on it first.I have already tried resetting my SMC, resetting my PRAM a few times and also reinstalled the 10.9.4 combo update, but neither have resulted in any changes.

I had about 100 emails in my inbox, about 50 in my sent box, about 10 in my outbox and I had about 150 folders, some with 10-20 emails, others with several hundred emails. I was working offline, adding emails to my outbox and got some sort of pop up box message about repairing the email. I quit Mail (since I was not on line and had no access).
When I started my computer again and got online, all of my messages were gone, but I did have about 15 new mails since the last time I was on line in the morning. I have a PowerBook G4, Leopard, OS X Version 10.5.2, 1.25 GHz PowerPC G4, 512 MB DDR SDRAM.
For the second time in less than a month, all my older than 1 week emails disappeared from the inbox. The ones from Sent or from my "On My Mac" folders are still there, but the Inbox has only 20 or so emails. I have an IMAP account that worked great so far.

There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Verify the settings for account “iCloud” or try again.
The server returned the error: The server “p06-imap.mail.me.com” cannot be contacted on port 993.
tried connecting and reconnecting to iCloud, everything OK when I use ICloud mail through a web browser, just can't figure it out.
Except my server is p06-imap.mail.me.com - rather than imap.mail.me.com - but can't seem to edit this - done all the obvious things...

View 3 Replies View RelatedHow can I view mail messages in a smaller window? when I open a message it takes up the whole screen of the iMac. It is also very small writing. I tried clicking on the green button. This works on my mac book pro but not on my iMac. When I try zoom to make the text bigger it does not wrap around.
View 2 Replies View RelatedRecently my hard drive crashed. All attempts to revive it failed. I have used Time Machine for years to save my backups on an external hard drive. Can I get Gmail emails I saved to my iMac saved to a flash drive for archiving on my Gmail account? If so, how would I go about extracting and saving the email messages from my Time Machine backups? I have a PC laptop and access to another iMac. I would also like to copy several audio books I had in iTunes. How could I access them?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI use iChat on my Mac and BeejiveIM on my iPhone - both with the same Jabber account. Also, I have Push Notifications turned on and I get all messages on my iPhone even if BeejiveIM is closed - you surely guessed it. What's so annoying? When I chat in iChat, all messages go to my iPhone as well and it "beeps" every second. How can I change the priority of iChat (or BeejiveIM - if possible) to make iPhone not getting messages when iChat's status is set to "Available"? Don't tell me to use Adium instead, 'cause I've used it and then switched to iChat.

I am a Mac beginner. There are 3 folders on the right hand side of the dock. Applications, Documents and Downloads. My download folder had disappeared, so I dragged one called My downloads from my documents, and it sits there ok, but it is shown as a white folder, instead of blue like the other two folders.
