Did the updated 10.6.2 SL that came out today fix the screen flickering issue for anyone?any other problems fixed, you can post here :-)

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen given a video card update (esp from using windows) it almost always improves the video card. Apple releases the flicker fix update and I don't have a flicker issue. No screen issues at all really.
I feel like it's Russian roulette. Update or not? I know some people will say don't fix what ain't broke, but what exactly is IN the fix? Is it exclusively for the flicker issue or does it update/upgrade other aspects on the card? Mine has the ATI card in it.
It's avihappy again and I have another survey for you all. As you can see, there is now an iMac 4850 EFI firmware update available via software update. So can you: Find a test that will cause the iMac to freeze up. Do the update. (make sure you actually run the firmware updater tool, it may not run automatically when you install the update from Software Update.) Switch to WiFi. Do the test again. See if the iMac freezes!
View 24 Replies View RelatedJust a quick silly question.iMac EFI Firmware Update popped up on the software update and I have now completed the update. It is okay to delete the iMac EFI Firmware Update from the Application Folder once you have updated the iMac?Also, if I have the Airport & Ethernet cable connected to my router, will my iMac use the Ethernet connection as default?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI know this affects iMac users than any other product so I thought it would be worth mentioning that Apple has released a Bluetooth firmware update found in Software Update: This update provides bug fixes and better compatibility with the Apple Wireless Mighty Mouse and Apple Wireless Keyboard. It installs on all Macintosh systems with Bluetooth based on the Broadcom chipset. Those who are having trouble, download and note any improvements for others who are having the same problem.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter the firmware update yesterday, the finder on my MacBook Pro is no longer able to transfer files from my iMac to my MBP or vice versa. Most folders on my other mac are visible, but some crash the finder, transferring files gets part of them moved over, but then it stalls and crashes the finder.Seems like a serious bug. Or has the firmware update simply removed the file transfer possibility at all?Reinstalling Lion wasn't even possible as the recovery program stalled as well. It was not possible to choose a language.

I have one of the original MacPros 1,1 2x266 currently running OS X 10.7.3. and indicating ROM Revision 3011. When I try to run this update, it fails saying I need OS X 10.6. Do I need the update (I presume yes since my ROM rev is lower), if so how can I install it?

I did a software update last night and the firmware update attempted to install. Unfortunately, it errors out with the message:
Necesary resources are missing, corrupt, or do not have the correct permissions. Delete the iMac Graphics Firmware Update and re-download it and run again.
I was reluctant to update my 27inch i5 iMac with the new graphics card firmware update since I wasn't having any flickering issues. I finally caved in and did it thinking that nothing bad will happen, well of course something did. Ever since I updated it yesterday my computer makes a distinct and random popping sound from the speakers, it is soft but audible in my quiet room when I am working and it is driving me crazy.

I'm using an external monitor (acer p235h) hooked up to my mini display port w/ an hdmi adapter. Before I updated I had no problems but when I updated to 10.5.8 it seems that I have some "flickering" issue. I'm not sure if it has something to do with the refresh rate but basically it looks like my monitor is slightly vibrating. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I've just got my hands on three G4 AGP Power Macs and in my rush to upgrade them to OSX I didn't upgrade the firmware. I now find that I can't use 512mb Ram as it only works with the current firmware update. But I no longer have OS9 to boot from so how do I update it? Or where can I find OS9?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI get this error: "unexpected error occurred (0); unable to upgrade firmware". They refer me to this site: [URL]. I just bought this late 08 MBP and I have a bootcamp partition running Windows XP Pro 32Bit on a NTFS partition. Why is this so complicated? Macs have always been easy on me until this. They tell me to do a full reinstall but I don't understand how this will fix the problem since I don't know where this comes from. It says to go check my "Partition Map Scheme" and I have a "Master Boot Record". It says I need a "GUID_partition_scheme". How come I don't have a "GUID_partition_scheme"?

View 1 Replies View RelatedBefore I purchased my Mac Pro on friday, I made sure to read these forums to make myself aware to some problems that could occur. When I got home, I made sure to do all the software updates and the Mac Pro is completely up to date, including the latest update from yesterday. However, this morning when I went to wake up my Mac Pro I couldn't get it to work so I had to do a hard restart. Should this be a concern for me? I put it back into sleep mode again and it woke up fine.. Could this have been a fluke?
View 9 Replies View RelatedAfter the update, my MacBook Pro is extermely sluggish. Prior to the update, I was zipping along like most happy MacBook Pro owners. After the update, I constantly see the dreaded beach ball when doing almost anything with the laptop, Safari pages take longer to load, etc.
It's almost as if the udpate had the opposite effect and actually throttled down my WD 500GB HDD performance to a large degree.
Like I said, prior to the update all was good. I've been searching to see if there is a way to revert back to the previous firmware to validate that the update caused the problem but I haven't been successfull in finding anything yet.
I currently have version 10.6.2 update for my macbook pro and after updating the EFI firmware update to 1.8 I get an annoying pop up every time I start the computer. I checked for any additional updates to see if it will go away, but I seem to have all the updates. Is there anything I should do to get rid of this pop up? Pop-up window reads: your computer's firmware is up to date with version 1.8 of the macbook pro EFI firmware update.

Installed the 2.8 firmware update on my late '08 macbook pro and after restarting it, it would just beep 3 times and not start up. I pulled my 8 gig kingston ram out, repositioned back and still the same issue. Slapping in the original 4 gigs of apple ram, it will start up and work fine though. Is there a fix to get the 8 gigs working again on the machine?

having issues updating thier firmware? Software update shows the 1.6 firmware update needing done, I go throught the process, it reboots and never installs the firmware. System profiler still showing the old version. I tried downloading the file from Apple's website and manually installing and it does the same thing. I'm at my wits end here. It doesn't really bother me except that it constantly shows up in software update.

MacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update 2.8 does not install. I was prompted several times to install and restart (MacBook Pro late 2008) and authorised it each time. In every case, the update was proposed again when Software Update checked. I have OS Lion latest version installed. What to do about this bug?
