On my Mac and in iCloud, I can only add Reminders to two Calendar types, Home and Sarah. I'd like to add other reminders for calendars labeled Work, for example. However, I can only choose to reclassify Reminders in the other Calendar types that have Reminders- so only Home and Sarah. Do I have to do something in iCloud for me to gain this ability?Â

All of a sudden iCal from my Macbook Pro has stopped syncing up to iCloud, though events added on my iPhone and iPad are showing up fine on iCal. After poking around a bit I found the following (clicking on the little "alert" icon in the Calendars dropdown popped up the error).
The syncing stopped a few days ago and I don't remember making any major changes to my setup that might have triggered this. Restarting iCal and rebooting the computer didn't help.
My coworkers and I share numerous calendars using icloud. Recently we have began to receive a deluge of email notifications for every change, tweak, or addition made to the shared calendars. We have been using shared icloud ical calendars for over 8 months and have never had this issue until it started earlier this week. My email inbox has become literally overrun with ical notification emails.

My wife and I subscribe to each other's ical calendars via iCloud and it's been working fine since first set up months ago. Suddenly today, she got a ton of emails after I updated and added a bunch of events in my calendar. This hasn't happened before today. Neither of us changed anything and I know I made similar updates in my calendar earlier in the week that didn't generate emails to her.

Is there a way to change the notification time of an all-day calendar event using an iCloud calendar?

When I originally set up iCloud, I was using Google mail. I have now migrated my calendar and email to iCloud and have migrated all third party accounts to use my icloud email address for mailshots, notifications etc. All that seems to be remaining is Apple's own discussion pages. It seems I cannot get notifications sent to anything other than my original gmail account, is there any way to change that? I have a forward on gmail so it's not a massive problem, but I would prefer to take gmail out of the equation completely now.Â
It still seems very strange to me that an Apple user's primary email address cannot be an Apple owned domain (as per their list of rules in the AppleID section). I have my icloud address as an alternate email address so at least it does allow me to log in to icloud.com etc., using that icloud address.
I cannot seem to get my iCloud calendar to stop sending email notifications to others for every single event I change. I've tried unchecking the box that says "email me when this calendar has changed", to no avail.

Whenever I update anything on my shared calendar, all those who subscribe to it get an email/notification about what I've changed or added. Same if someone who I'm subscribed to updates anything on their calendar, I get an inbox full of emails telling me they have done so. Am I able to stop sending these update emails/notifications? And/or is there a setting to stop receiving these update emails/notifications?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've installed Windows XP with Service Pack 2 a couple days ago - figured out the drivers stuff and finally the OS X disc ran flawlessly, installed most of the drivers for internet, audio and isight, whatever. I thought it's done so I installed GTA: Vice City on my Windows XP - when I tried launching the game, it gave me an error stating 'Couldn't find enough video memory'.
So I went to Start>Run and typed in dxdiag which opens the DirectX Diagnostic Tool. I went to 'Display' and found out that the category under 'Device' is completely blank with DirectDraw Acceleration and Direct3D Acceleration stating 'Not Available'. Am I missing out the graphic driver or something? Anyone here explains it and provide a link where to install these required drivers. By the way, I've tried installing the driver off NVIDIA's site but still it turns out funny.

I want to set a reminder to e.mails. Eg in microsoft outlook I can just drag an email to the calender and it opens on the set date automatically? is this possible and if yes how?
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen I first purchased Lion and used the iCal application, I was able to set Reminders to repeat themselves on a daily basis (eg. Take Your Pill). But now, for some unknown reason, this option has disappeared. I have one reminder that still shows this (since I have not marked it completed), but I cannot create any new daily reminders. What happened? Did Apple remove this option from iCal?

I have a 2007 MBP (Santa Rosa) that won't open unless I take a flat tool in between the screen bezel and the top case and manually remove the latches from their slots.
When the little button on the front of the computer is pressed, nothing happens. I doesn't even 'push in', it just resists, no matter how hard I press.
Has anyone else encountered this problem or have any ideas how to fix this? Thanks a lot!
Was thinking about this last night while reaching for the cable to hook up an iphone, realising that I'm already running an external monitor, external hard disk, ipod, iphone, speakers, printer + a few others.

When I launch an app or open a window they appear next to the Dock wasting precious screen space. I can of course move them manually under the Dock to get the space back but I'm searching a way to tell the dock to always be on top of everything instead of moving it away.
I already searched Google and used numerous Apps like "Docker" and "Secrets"- without sucess.
Especially on my mothers small 17incher with 1024x768px resolution and only a couple of things in the Dock, the Dock is stealing like 20 Percent of real estate.
I recently upgraded to SL and the internet connection works fine, but every 1o minutes or so I get a pop up window which says:
'Network Connection'This is a reminder that your connection is still active. Do you wish to remain connected?
On Tiger it was easy to disable this reminder, but I can't seem to be able to do the same on SL.
How do you set an alarm or reminder (i.e. flag) an email in the Mail application. You can do it in iCal but I can't see how to in Mail.

This morning when the power button is pushed, nothing happens at all. The button does not light up. The computer does not start.I checked the power cable. I took it out of the computer and put it back in. (I did note that the plug looks a bit darkened but it does not smell burnt.) I tried it in a different outlet. Same thing. It won't turn on.I can't recall if this iMac is a G3 or G4 and I can't find my documentation to let you know. But I don't know that it matters which G it is. It is the old special edition grey iMac and has been working for us for many years. Is this the end for this iMac? Could it be something that is simple to fix?Â

When I tried to set up Outlook.com account with Mail I was not able to locate Outlook.com settings automatically like one would on iPhone. Anyhow, I set it up manually using the IMAP settings. It works great but the only problem is that it does not push emails instantly. It checks for email in set intervals. How can I set this to push emails?Â

View 3 Replies View RelatedIn an apparent bid to rapidly gain share of the online browser market dominated by rival Microsoft, Apple is leveraging its vast iTunes install base to recommend that Windows users also download and install the latest version of its Safari web browser.
To date, Apple has sold over 100 million iPods, the majority of which have gone to Windows users who subsequently must install the company's iTunes software for synching files between their PCs and the digital media players. As part of iTunes, Apple also installs its Software Update mechanism on the Windows-based machines to notify users of iTunes updates, in addition to updates to its QuickTime media software required for several iTunes functions.
It now appears that the Cupertino-based company aspires to use the advantage presented by the Software Update mechanism to muscle its way further up the browser charts at the expense Microsoft's Internet Explorer and other third-party Windows browsers.
"Earlier today, Apple released the Safari 3.1 Web browser for Mac OS and Windows XP/Vista. A couple hours later, Apple Software Update popped up on my daughter's Sony VAIO, offering Safari 3.1 for download," noted Microsoft Watch's Joe Wilcox. "I didn't recall seeing an earlier version installed on the laptop. And I made no mistake: The Apple updater offered installation of new software, not something that had been there before. Whoa."
Windows users receiving the notification are greeted with Apple's marketing pitch alongside the download option, which reads: "Safari for Windows is the fastest and easiest-to-use web browser for the PC. It displays web pages faster than any other browser and is filled with innovative features -- all delivered in an efficient and elegant user interface."
In a statement released Monday alongside the release of Safari 3.1, Apple said the browser loads web pages 1.9 times faster than the current version of Internet Explorer and 1.7 times faster than Firefox 2.0. But when it comes to install base, Safari is world's behind.
According to NetApplications, the Apple browser maintains an approximate 5.7 percent share of the market, a distant third to the well established presences of both FireFox and Internet Explorer, which hold a 17.2 percent and 74.8 percent share, respectively. But like FireFox, Safari is slowly eating away at Internet Explorer's commanding lead. Its share has risen nearly a full percentage point over the past twelve months, while the Microsoft browser has shed about 5 percent of its share.
Meanwhile, Apple is also contending on a second front in its charge towards supremacy in the browser market, to which it has witnessed more immediate success. Its iPhone and iPod touch -- both of which ship with a mobile version of Safari -- have served to springboard the company to the top of the US mobile browser rankings in a mere eight months, according a recent report from Ireland-based StatCounter.
But Wilcox, who credits Apple with wisely leveraging its resources to infiltrate Microsoft's territory, questions how well the fledging Safari browser will hold up amongst a PC world proliferated by trojans, viruses and other rogue tactics that threaten to disrupt the stability of Windows systems.
"Safari is fairly new to Windows and has yet to really show that it has can muster the security to withstand the associated attacks," he wrote. "Mac OS X is a quaint neighborhood where little Safari was safe. By comparison, Windows is a gang-ridden ghetto: life is survival, and it's tough going."
