I need to restore my phone to factory settings but don't want to lose all my contacts. How do I transfer my contacts from my iPhone 4s to my Mac through iCloud? I don't want to restore and retrieve the data but instead I want to manual import the contacts once the phone is restored like brand new.

I have a Mac Mini, iPhone 4s and iPad 2. I noticed in the address book on the Mac there were two of each contact so I deleted one of each. This has wiped the entire address book on iCloud and lost contacts on all devices can I get them back? I expect the Cloud has been erased and that I am not able to retrieve my contacts.

A friend has an iPhone 5 (iOS 7.1) and a Mac Book Pro (OSX Lion). He wanted the contacts from his Gmail account to appear on his iPhone. This was easy enough - I just added his Gmail account to his iPhone under Mail, Contacts Calendars.
The problem - we want all of these contacts to sync with his Mac. Both if the iPhone and Mac have iCloud enabled with the same account. Accounts are set to sync. However, the only contacts appearing on him Mac are the ones that were already there. It's not syncing all accounts from his iPhone.
How do I stop the contacts from my iPhone from showing on the contact app for my macbook pro? I have gone into system preferences and tried to stop it there but to no avail. This is a shared Mac so i don't necessarily want my contacts showing on there ...

I have the latest OS X Lion (10.7.3) and iTunes. On iTunes the Sync to Contacts, Sync to Mail, Sync to Calendars and the notes in Others are checked but the boxes in Advanced are not. The iCloud is logged in (in System Preferences) with the default settings.
If won't sync the contacts from the iPhone to either the Address Book in the iMac (late 2009 model) nor the one in iCloud. I've reported this at the iPhone Feedback page as a bug but I could be doing something wrong.

I have an iMac, Air and iPhone 4S, all up-to-date. I did my iCloud migration a few weeks ago. Everything seemed to work; I especially tested Calendar and verified that an event created on each device would appear on/disappear from the others. However, over the past few days I have realized that iCloud sync of Contacts/AddressBook is only working on the iPhone. Cards that I have created on the iMac and Air do not appear on the phone, but cards that I create on the iPhone do appear on the others.
After readng some similar questions here, I checkef SysPrefs on the Air, discovered MobileMe was still the default for AddressBook, changed it (in two places) to iCloud... and now have a complete set of duplicate entries in the Air, but still no sync up to iCloud. (I created new cards to check, and also checked iCloud.com to make sure the data is there. It is, no dupes — but also none of the cards I created on the Air before or after changing the default.)

When I tried to connect to the Internet via my iPhone on my MacBook, it didn't want to connect.I turned off the Personal Hotspot and rebooted the iPhone. This didn't solve the problem. Then I deleted the iPhone USB network interface from my Network Preference Pane, in the hope that if I would add it again, the problems would have been solved. There's only one new problem now, I can't add the iPhone USB network interface anymore. Is there a way to get my iPhone USB network interface back in the Network Preference Pane so I can use my iPhone as a Personal Hotspot via the USB?

This has happened twice to me. Each time I've gone from an iPhone to a different OS phone, either ALL my music disappears from my MacBook or (as most recently) a portion has deleted..... And if I try to rebuy the songs, it says I already have them? but they aren't there....I respect iPhones, but I enjoy the phone I have now and don't plan on going back to an iPhone any time soon.

This process deleted all my current text history, call history, photos, music, ringtones and apps! It replaced all of that data with my old iphone 3G data (data being music, texts, call history, photos, music.) It's like my phone went back in time.. This all happened when I backed my phone up last night. I guess I accidentally backed my phone up to my old stuff. I don't know if I have my iPhone 4 info backed up somewhere..

It seems that the contacts app has suddenly become incapable of accessing my contacts in the cloud. Its fine on icloud.com, its fine on my phone, and its fine on my ipads. However, I'm getting an error message right now which I think must be to do with an update to Little Snitch which I did almost immediately before, and which necessitated a reboot. Since the reboot, I am seeing the following
Of course, this also means Messages doesnt work. LS is not blocking any icloud things, and calendars and mail are still working with no issues.

I was in the middle of adding new contacts and two very strange things happened.
1) After adding the second to last contact, I clicked on "All" to start dragging contacts into a new group and there were all these blank address cards in amongst my regular addresses - as if I had accidentally held down apple N and created a whole bunch of new cards inadvertently - but I had not done this - I was adding people one by one - all morning and it had been going just fine.
2) I still had a couple contacts to add so I thought, well I'll just fill in one of these blank cards - don't know where they came from, maybe I did something, so I better just use them - BIG MISTAKE - poof! Address Book is now gone - completely empty and in Mail, all my address history is also gone.
I clicked undo till I couldn't und anymore and although it said 'undoing new entry', undoing x, undoing y - nothing was really changing - everything was still gone.
Apple freak BF then fiddled and fiddled and after half and hour found the meta data files with all kinds of gobbledy gook numbers and letters in the prefix but can't get them back into Address Book to open...
Why has this happened - it felt like some sort of viral attack but I though macs don't get those - what other weird stuff is going on in there and can I prevent this weirdness from corrupting other programs - mail? calendar? Is that possible or silly? And of course most importantly can I get my addresses back?
My Address Book contacts have disappeared twice; moreover, I can't seem to find them on Time Machine so that I can restore them. Is anyone else having this problem, and 1. how do I get my contacts back, and 2. how do I prevent this happening again?

I am a bit desperate because I accidentally deleted all my phone contacts using iSync. Previous to the sync I had my contacts in my mac address book, but I deleted them to make a fresh list from my phone. Therefore my address book was empty when I did the sync. I thought that the contacts from the phone would be copied to the computer. But instead, when I did the sync all the contacts from the phone were deleted! I did a search in google and found that the version of Address Book under Tiger kept a file called ddressBook.data.previous that contained your contacts before the last change. But I cannot find that file in Leopard. Does anyone have an idea of where that file is? Or does anyone have a suggestion about how to recover my phone numbers?

I was messing around with the contacts in my address book... i had added some contacts directly into my Address Book on my MacBook Pro i5 that weren't showing up on my iPhone 4S address book. I wanted to try to sync them over from my Address Book to my iPhone.I backed up my address book which created the document Address Book - 18-05-2012.abbu which is great. Then i deleted my contacts from my Address Book.Next day i realised in doing so it has also removed all my contacts from my iPhone too!
Now i want to use the Address Book - 18-05-2012.abbu file to retrieve my contacts. I click on it and it says: Are you sure you want to replace all of the contacts in your address book with the contacts in Address Book - 18-05-2012.abbu?I click "Replace All" and it populates all my contacts again FOR ABOUT 2 SECONDS BEFORE THEY ALL DISAPPEAR AGAIN.Why won't they come back for good? I've tried it 5-6 times now and when i click on "Replace All" all my contacts magically appear, and then almost immediately disappear again.
