ICloud :: How Do Different Users Share The Same Calendar And Contacts Information
Feb 22, 2012
My family has several macs with different users. We all have the same contacts and calendars so everyon just logs into the same icloud account. But we would like to be able to use the beta messages and for that matter mail without everyone seeing eachothers mail and messages. Is it possible to set that up using iCloud?
Re syncing calendar from Mac Mini to iPhone 5: If I enter an event on my Mac Mini Calendar it does not transfer to my iPhone. It works fine from my iPhone to my Mac Mini. My i phone is using iOS 7.1.2. My Mini's op sys is 10.9.4. I have tried changing the settings on my phone, in my iCloud account and on my Mini.
After years of bad behavior from .Mac and then MobileMe, now iCloud is ALSO not syncing my calenddar events between my computers and my iPhone.
The only way I can make my computers sync with each other and my phone is by going to Calendar/Refresh All on the menu bar in Calendar. I thought this was supposed to happen automatically.
It sure seems that syncing in iCloud is just as annoying and broken as it was with .Mac and MobileMe.
My wife and I both have our own Apple ID's but would like to share one calendar in iCal in the iCloud so we can add events on our iPhones and we both can see them?
I noticed that I had duplicate cards in Contacts and events in Calendar. Looking at Preferences / Accounts I saw that I was somehow logged into iCloud twice as it was listed twice in the left column. I checked the iCloud settings and couldn't see anything untoward. I've un-enabled one of the iCloud accounts which has solved the problem from a useage point of view, but the duplicated iCloud account is still visible.Possible things that caused the issue:
1) I signed out of iCloud on my work machine and back in again a day later earlier this week
2) I edited my email address on the 'Me' card in contacts as my work email was misspelt
ICloud will not sync my contacts or calendar in Mac Office 2011. ICloud does however sync to my PC at work running Microsoft office 2010 and also to my IPad and IPhone. Does anyone know how to fix this?
I am getting a new iphone for my wife and am unsure whether to create a second icloud account or stay with one. I know that we can use the same iTunes ID for apps and music, so no issues there. But I also want our phone calendars to sync with our Mac (already connected to my phone via icloud). My preference is to have two icloud accounts with linked calendars so we can each have 5gb of free storage. Is that doable with shared calendars on the phones and the Mac?
If we must be on the same account, how to separate out our mail and contacts? We are not using the @me account for mail, so my guess is if we use a separate email account in respective phones, our mail won't get mixed up. Is that correct? We already have multiple groups in our address books. Can we select multiple groups to sync one phone and others to the others? Also, can we access shared notes?
Apparently I allowed iCloud to delete all of my calendar and reminder information from my Mac.Can I restore it from iCloud, if not can I restore it from Time Machine?
I am sharing a calendar with 7 people and when I try to add another person or delete somebody I get the following error. couldn't share "calendar". your changes to this calendar couldn't be saved because of a server error. please try again. I've tried to accomplish this task via different computers in different locations so I am kind of stuck now.
I've activated icloud and its caused problems with my calenders. if i stop it will i loose all my calender events. Its duplicated and removed some for my mobile devices.
I have a problem with Safari. I want to delete the information of users and password of Safari's autofill, so I go to Safari - Preferences - Autofil - User and password - Edit, and when I click on delete all, the only thing that happens is that all the information remain selected. I try to uninstall safari, but I can't. I'm using the Spanish version of Lion. What can I do? I like using Safari, but I want to delete this information.
Info: Safari, Mac OS X (10.7.2), Using the Spanish version
It seems that the contacts app has suddenly become incapable of accessing my contacts in the cloud. Its fine on icloud.com, its fine on my phone, and its fine on my ipads. However, I'm getting an error message right now which I think must be to do with an update to Little Snitch which I did almost immediately before, and which necessitated a reboot. Since the reboot, I am seeing the following
Of course, this also means Messages doesnt work. LS is not blocking any icloud things, and calendars and mail are still working with no issues.

I posted my G4 Powerbook on craigslist, and, after filtering out the nigerian scammers, I received some legit-seeming inquiries, a couple of which requested I print my system profiler information as a pdf and send to them so they could see how the machine is set up. One of them had an @apple.com email address, so it seemed like it was probably not a malicious request.
I have my photos on my imac in my user account under pictures. This works fine and is backed up with Time Machine.I also have a MBP and want to access the iphoto library in my user account but whatever settings I use in sharing this will not work.I have heard I can put this in my shared folder but I wonder if time machine will still back this up and also if this will work.Could someone pls help me, its annoying as my itunes library is on an external hard drive and this can be accessed on both macs using the alt key.
New to the Mac World and trying to set things up for all our users. We have 5 (2adults,3kids) and I'm keen to be able to share some files with other members of my family and would like to know the easiest way in doing this.
A couple of things to note; - The two adults are the admin's - Would like to share some photos between users (family photos are usually organized by my wife so I don't get to see them) - I'd like to let my kids view some of my videos that I've downloaded but not all of them.
My wife and I each have separate user accounts on our Imac, but we'd like to share the Iphoto library. Since my account was set up first and done so some time ago, all of our family pics are under my user account. Can we share the library so new imports populate both accounts ?
