Jul 1, 2014When I originally set up iCloud, I was using Google mail. I have now migrated my calendar and email to iCloud and have migrated all third party accounts to use my icloud email address for mailshots, notifications etc. All that seems to be remaining is Apple's own discussion pages. It seems I cannot get notifications sent to anything other than my original gmail account, is there any way to change that? I have a forward on gmail so it's not a massive problem, but I would prefer to take gmail out of the equation completely now.
It still seems very strange to me that an Apple user's primary email address cannot be an Apple owned domain (as per their list of rules in the AppleID section). I have my icloud address as an alternate email address so at least it does allow me to log in to icloud.com etc., using that icloud address.

Mar 24, 2012Upon the strong suggestion by the Apple website that I change my primary email address to match my AppleID, I did. However, there are no options to configure this email account, which exists nowhere in the universe. I tried sending mail to this new email address/AppleID account from my work account, only to have it bounce back as undeliverable. On the appleid.apple.com site, there are no options to reset the AppleID's primary email address. My AppleID is now connected to an email address that doesn't exist, I can't configure, etc. etc.

Feb 16, 2012When I purchased my 2 Macs they were set up with my Apple ID. Somehow when I upgraded to Lion, which I did right after it came out, it change my contact information to show my wifes. What I mean is when I check Preferences > Users & Groups my Admin users ID shows my Apple ID but the address book card is linked to my wife's information. Of course whenever I try to complete a form on a site, it uses her information to auto-fill. We both have iPhones and iCloud accounts.I've had both these computers since OS X 10.4 or 5. They have always been correct till this upgrade.

Feb 8, 2012My wife's macbook monitor is destroyed due to happy 2 year old. It won't be worthwhile to replace the monitor and it is not fixable without some expensive work being done on it, therefore I would like to use our TV as an external monitor and retire the macbook to being a mediia computer. I have connected it to the TV, and I see an empty desktop, as far as I can determine it looks like it is treating the TV as a secondary display - that the desktop is extended onto - so I cannot actually interact with the normal desktop. When I try to run things using keyboard shortcuts I hear some sounds of things starting, but I don't see anything on the TV. So what I need to do is to have some way to tell it to treat the secondary display as the primary display.

Jun 13, 2012My main email is a gmail address but I would like to start using my Apple mail more frequently. I have moved services to iCloud. I use OS X Lion for my Macbook and iOS 5 for my iPhone. My apple account is still myname@mac.com and this address is still listed as "verified" in account settings. When MobileMe came along I mainly used the "@me" affix but I still occasionally sent mails using @mac, selecting it in from the drop down menu in Mail.Recently I tried the same, selected to send from myname@mac.com but got the following error message:And when I tried to sent an email to myself from my gmail I received the following error message:"Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently..Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 550 550 5.1.1 unknown or illegal alias: myname@mac.com (state 13)."The myname@me.com works as it should, operating normally in iCloud. Is there any way I could use the ".mac" affix? I now think that this makes for a more handsome address than the more egocentric "@me".
