Windows On Mac :: BootCamp - XP Has Blue Tint?
Nov 10, 2008
I'm running Tiger on a 2.5ghz MacBook Pro (purchased april '08) and everything works perfectly and the screen colors/ brightness is perfect. In Windows XP however (running via Boot Camp), the screen has an annoying bluish tint that I can not get rid of. It is especially visible in lighter colors that should be gray or off-white. In the NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT graphics card control panel there is no obvious way to fix this problem. And it is not a gamma or brightness problem- because even after adjusting those, the bluish tint remains. Perhaps this is caused by a lack of a control in XP and/or the graphics card for the moniter's color temperature on the LED back-lit screen? When running XP through VMware fusion however the screen colors are dead-on.

I have googled a lot about this, and found some fixes for the blue tint in Windows, but not in games. I know, you need to import OSX color profile etc, but even though I did this, the blue tint comes back as soon as I start a game. I saw people asking the same after they found the fix, but nobody replied. I found like 3 threads on google where nobody could answer how to get rid of that.
Problem Description:
When installing bootcamp, the screen isn't configured and makes everything look washed out and blue-ish. After fixing that by importing the color profile from OSX, it comes back when starting games. For example, Team Fortress 2 has nothing of its colorful graphics, its grey and undersaturated with a blue tint. Call of Duty 4s desert levels are practically unplayable against other people because you can't distinguish people from rocks, concrete walls, sand or metal, because everything looks grey, cold, dull and blue.
How can I get the profile to stay selected or whatever is causing this? The normal desktop looks fine with the color profile, but as soon as you start games it seems to get reset to the blue hell. I am using a 15 inch Macbook Pro from 2010 with the i7 option, and all latest OSX updates, although I doubt that matters. (Also Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit with latest updates).

The LCD display on my ibook will get a intermittent blue tint. I have no idea what could be causing it. The LCD seems to be in good shape.

Picked up a used mac mini from eBay to use as a HTPC. This is my first mac.
When hooked up to a TV the display has a blue tint to it. I have tried the 2 TVs in my house, both have the same result. It's so blue its not usable. When hooked up to a 20" 1440x900 reg monitor it looks fine.
Using DVI:HDMI cable & 1/8" audio

I have a 27" iMac purchased last January. Every time the computer wakes up, the display activates with normal coloring but after a second "shifts" into a different color profile with a blue'ish tint.
All software updates have been applied. I've reformatted the computer twice since the initial purchase. Problem persists.
I'm well aware of the yellow tinge problem with 27' iMacs, but based on my research of past posts the blue color shift has only been a problem with Macbooks.

There was an electrical storm last night, and it may have fried some things for me, even though everything was on a surge protector. My G5 suddenly has no video. It booted, chimed, and had a white light on the front. I could hear emails coming in, etc. But NO video. I rebooted multiple times, zapped the PRam, and what I'd get is about a half a second of video (grey screen and Apple logo) before the monitor would pop back to black. I swapped in a different monitor I had and rebooted. I then had a normal reboot, but everything on my monitor is tinted blue.I took the old monitor and tried it out hooked up to my iMac and it's definitely dead. Have you ever heard of a video card failing, and everything turns blue?

Who is having this issue, have you resolved it, and how did you do it: Coinciding with Yosemite 10.10.1. my entire screen has begun to take on a blue tint. This was not an issue with 10.10.0. This is a MacBook Pro 6,2 with 4GB system RAM. Graphics is with built-in Intel HD Graphics (and standard 288MB VRAM), and the standard NVidia GeForce GT330M graphics in PCI (and 256MB VRAM).Â
The blue cast appears when using Microsoft Outlook 2011 (back to normal when it quits), Adobe Photoshop CS6 (sometimes yes, sometimes no), and intermittently when running Firefox or Safari (where the blue cast seems to coincide with invoking plug-ins).  All of these applications are up to date.Â
Attempts to resolve this include:Â
1) Downloaded and installed the latest software updates for Outlook, Photoshop, Firefox and Safari. Made no difference.Â
2) System Preferences -> Displays -> Color -> Calibrate. I initially thought that the Color Sync profile had been corrupted, but the color was so 'off' that my attempt to manually recalibrate the screen could not go far enough. So I abandoned this.Â
3) System Preferences -> Energy Saver -> Automatic Graphics Switching. Checking Automatic Graphics Switching works, but un-checking it and the blue cast comes back immediately. Â
4) Running Disk Utilities -> Repair Permissions. Didn't work. Â
5) Cleared all caches using Onyx: Worked for 10 minutes, then blue came backÂ
6) Reset PRAM: Worked for two days, now the blue is back.

I noticed that almost every letter has a red or blue tint on my external monitor, like behind it, as a shadow. I am connected to dvi. If I use the dvi to vga converter. It gets reduced. I even tried on a new dell monitor and it does the same thing! Is this normal? Could it be my videocard that is beginning to be defective?

I have a new IMac and I installed vista via bootcamp, when I start up vista I am getting a blue error screen that flashes so fast i cant even ready it... then the computer shuts down. When I restart it again it goes to the page that gives me the choice to safe start or start normal. Sometimes it will let me go to windows and work fine but there have been times when it just does that over and over again. Does anyone know what this is caused from? I guess I'll have to reformat or something. If I continue to use my computer this way will it wreck something?

Woke my C2D MBP from sleep to find a horrendous blue tint to the screen, googled it and found it is a fairly common problem but none of the solutions that seemed to work for everyone have worked for me. Tried the terminal command, tried turning a screensaver on and then off, tried ctrl-cmd-eject to restart the screen - nada.

So, I was on windows, using bootcamp, and I was creating partitions on a pen drive with it, and then it asks me that it needs to restart to apply changes.
But then, while restarting, a blue screen occurred (**** windows).... And I forced the shutdown pressing the power key.Â
Then, I simply turned the MacBook on, trying to boot on my snow leopard and I got a flashing folder with a question mark on it. Now I can't access any partitions on it, if I press option key on startup I get a blank window!Â
I tried to reset PRAM, repair the MacOs partition using the snow leopard DVD (it shows up fine, along with windows partition and EFI partition), and I still don't get my startup disk showing up...Â

I keep getting the following error 3 quarters of the way:
STOP: C000021A "Fatal system error. The windows subsystem process terminated un expectedly w/ a status of OX C000005. System shut down. It's a blue screen with white letter.
I'm using Office XP Service Pack 2 with imac OSX Install DVD version 10.6.3.
The steps I'm taking are:
Log onto my mac and use pre installed bootcamp to partition the drive. I'm using 32GB of space. Then I use my xp Prof w/ service pack 2 cd to install xp. At this time everything is working fine except for the missing drives. Then I put the bootcamp cd that came with my imac into the iMac and run bootcamp. It looks like everything is working perfectly. The imac is finding wireless internet and all the drives look like they are working fine until out of no where a blue screen pops up and states what I wrote below. There is nothing else on the screen. I'm using a 27 inch imac that i bought about 5 weeks ago new.

Alu 24" 2.4ghz when they first came out with aluminum, got it at the store. since august 07 My imac had a small yellow tint, i noticed, when i got it and it was not worth anyhting screaming about, i also noticed it had bleeding issues ath the bottom and sides. I wanted to return it or trade but i was convinced out of it.
Now i noticed that from left to right their is a prominent yellow tint streaking it's way across and fading around the half way point. It is irritating and sad to see this display on this mac was ok, at first but it is geting slightly worse.I have apple care, can i trade this/replace it at an applestore, or would they need to fix it?

Rebooted into XP, put the USB stick in and ran the setup.exe off of it. XP blue screened when installing Broadcam drivers it appears.

OS: Snow Leopard Bootcamp Win 7, Ubuntu 9.10.Problem: I felt I would be nice to the iMac and shut it down after a hard days work. I woke up the next morning, turned it on, and it loads up past the gray screen, then goes to the dark blue snow leopard screen. From there I DO NOT get a mouse pointer. I get zip, zilch, nothing.I have let it sit over night just to make sure it wouldn't surprise me. Remedies tried:Booting to safe mode. Boots fine but when it gets to the blue screen it doesn't do anything else.Booting to single user mode. From there I renamed the com.apple.loginwindow and the com.apple.startup file. Didn't do anything.Resetting PRAM, VRAM, ram, jingle bell, any key, * key, I've tried resetting everything possible and not possible. WHY computer gods? WHY?

I Have my 15" macbook pro 2,4 Ghz 2G in RAM, with Snow Leopard, bootcamp and vista running for some time (about a year or so) and every thing has been going ok. Last night I made a clean windows 7 installation. All went good, installation, let windows 7 make his updates, I put Snow Leopard disk to make macbook pro drivers updates and I installed all the program I need including Norton 2010 Antivirus.
All went smooth and easy untill I activated Windows 7 with Daz Windows Loader 1.6.9. After a few seconds It said : Everything Ok, Windows is now activated and your machine will reboot now. After that, it gets out of the desktop to the closing window and suddenly I get the blue death screen. I have to manually press de power button to shut down my macbook pro.
I reboot again and after getting the safe mode screen stuff i just keep with Start Windows normally. It starts well again, but now each time I want to reboot or shut down my MBP I get again and again the blue death screen. And Im sure i will get it while working soon.Is it probably because I did all kind of updates before running the Daz Loader (including programs and antivirus software)??

Used migration assistant to move my Blackbook apps and settings to the Air using a Time Machine backup from my Time Capsule - wirelessly. Two hours later (not terrible) and I'm using my Air with all my apps and setting - fantastic.
Question: My Blackbook also has a Bootcamp partition running Windows - is there a way to take that image and migrate it to my MB Air? I'd rather not have to purchase the Superdrive and re-install/setup the Windows OS on my Air....

I want to try out Windows 7. During this process though I deleted my winXP partition. When I went to create a new BootCamp partition in The BootCamp SetUp Assisstant, it failed to create the partition on my harddrive.
I was greeted with the error, "BootCamp SetUp assistant failed to yada yada yada, please backup and reformat your harddrive."
So my question is do I really have to reinstall Mac OS X? (I backup with TimeMachine so it won't be a big deal but still thats a very long process.) Do you guys have any tips or anything to get Mac OS X to partition my main HDD?

Maybe I'm just over thinking this, but Apple never posted a KB article about how to upgrade an existing bootcamp partition with the new snow leopard bootcamp 3.0 drivers. I'm assuming if you already have bootcamp 2.1 you boot up in boot camp and then insert the snow leopard disc in order to upgrade the drivers to 3.0 correct? Or do I have to erase my stupid bootcamp partition and reinstall it all over again using the new leopard boot camp assistant in order to get to 3.0?

I've tried re-installing and updating every possible graphics related driver for Windows 7 i cannot for love or toffee get the bloody thing to even recognize my display. I am using a 26" tv as an external display, it works on OS X (very easily), windows XP (also very easily) and even Vista (also easily) and connecting through a DVI/HDMI connector. Why not windows 7? I've scoured the web for answers but can't find anything. Is anyone at least in the same boat as me? I really need this solved soon

Does anyone know or have the same problem where pressing the F7, F8, F9 keys (which are previous, stop/pause, and forward) doesn't work in iTunes unless iTunes is the "active" window? I know that in OS X that if i pressed those buttons, it would do it even if I was in another application, but in the Windows 7 version it won't do it if another application is "active." Also, the same applies to the Apple Remote.
