I am a bit confused about how MobileMe works with Mail. Does it only do push functionality with the "yourname@me.com" email address or can I use it with my other pop personal mail accounts.
I have a couple of email accounts loaded into Mail as well as my iphone and I would love for them to be linked.
If I send an email with a non me.com email account from my iphone should it appear in my sent messages on my computer?

I have an iMac with Version 10.6.8 OS. When using the Apple Mail Program I am unable to access my .me account. I can access it from the internet using the icloud website and Thunderbird has no problem finding it. With Mail it juct says my username or password are incorrect.

View 7 Replies View RelatedSince I updated to iCloud, (which may or may not be related) Mail on my MacBookPro 10.6.8 has been unable to connect to MobileMe more than once or twice per day. Mail on my iPhone 4 and my old iMac has no problems. When there is no service a yellow warning triangle appears adjacent to the Inbox and Connection Doctor reports,"Trying to log into this MobileMe IMAP account failed. Verify that username and password are correct." Since it does fetch Mail from time to time they cannot be wrong.... can they? Should I update to 10.7 and if so what does that entail?

View 4 Replies View RelatedA number of times recently when I have opened Mail.app I get a message that says something like identity certificate of smtp.me.com cannot be validated. And I clicked continue anyway.
Anyhow, over the next day since opening it I created about 10 drafts and was working on them, and didn't particularly notice I wasn't receiving mail. I didn't notice anything was wrong until I finished one of the drafts this morning and sent it. It never sent. The window dissapeared but the message didn't appear in drafts or sent. So I took a look at the Activity window and saw about 15 things it was trying to do and not finishing any of them. I went through all my other drafts and tried saving them manually and they wouldn't save. They kept showing the darkened red close button to show thye hadn't been saved.
I went back to Activity and tried hitting the stop sign next to each process, but after doing that I still couldn't save the messages. I guess this was stupid and I wasn't thinking but I thought quitting and reopening might help. So I quit mail and it wouldn't let me quit (quit was grayed out), so I force quit. I reopened mail and that's when I realized something had been wrong since yesterday when I got that security message. I suddenly got 10 e-mails that apparently had been sent to me since yesterday.
I looked in my sent and drafts folders and the message I had sent is nowhere. The messages I had created since the security message yesterday are non-existent. And the messages I had edited since the security message have none of the additions I made to them. I went to mobileme support this morning and I was upset at how clueless the person was. He told me he thought my operating system was corrupted. It was a painful exchange. I called AppleCare and they didn't know what to tell me either and it was awkward. I have my MobileMe setting set to save all my mail on the server but is there a chance it could have saved a localized cached version of these message somewhere? I already looked under Library-->Mail, but it just reflects what's in my inbox.
I am thinking of getting a new nexus one phone and want to automatically send my mobileme email to my gmail account.

All the settings are still the same from when the subscription expired. The MobileMe only offers help in setting it up to sync for the first time.
Just installed Lion on my Early 2008 MacBook Pro. I am trying to setup iCloud Mail & Notes for the first time in the System Preferences. iCloud asks me to "Choose an email address." I already have a MobileMe address so I enter that. iCloud responds by saying that address is already taken. Of course it is, by ME! Whe won't it accept my email address?

I successfully moved my mail, bookmarks, calendars, and address book from MobileMe to iCloud yesterday.Per the advice provided here on the forum, I deleted my existing pop mail (i.e., Earthlink) from Mail on my computer before the move. (I kept it on my iPad and iPhone and it appears to be working fine). can I add this pop account back in my desktop mail program so I can both mail accounts in the same place like before?

I have a forwarding email address that I give out to everyone as my main address - it saves hassle with different addresses, changing of ISP and instances such as the Apple shift to Mobile Me. However, I want to set-up MobileMe so that my forwarding address appears as the from address in emails. How can I do this? I've tried to add it as one of the addresses in the Mail app Preferences pane but this seems to create a problem with sending.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have an Apple laptop and an Apple desktop. Both are running 10.5.4 and have the MobileMe 1.1 s/w update.
On the laptop, I've set up my Mail accounts, contacts, keychains, bookmarks, etc. as I want them.
I access MobileMe in System Preferences and indicate I want all data on MobileMe replaced by the data on my laptop.
As soon as the sync has completed, I access MobileMe in System Preferences on my Desktop and indicate I want all data on my desktop replaced by the data on MobileMe. Unless I'm missing something, the laptop, MobileMe, and the desktop should all by in sync at this point.
Without touching either computer or accessing MobileMe, I'll get a message on my laptop and/or desktop within an hour telling me that more than 5% of my Mail accounts have changed and asking me what I want to do. If I look at the details of the change, the before and after views of the account are absolutely identical. I've tried resetting the sync history via iSync but that doesn't help. I really don't want to alter the changed percentage that triggers the message because it could be useful for Contacts, etc.
I'm using this software with my MobileME account, and an error occurs when I send mails with attachments. I'll give an example: Imagine that I want to send an e-mail to someone, and I want to attach a 10MB file to it. When I do that, the e-mail takes quite some time to send, because I'm not sending 10MB but... 3 or 4 times more!
Exactly. This happens over and over again. The e-mail sent is always 3 or 4 times larger than the original e-mail. I've checked - and re-checked this - several times using iStat widget. If I send a 10MB e-mail, the total upload is going to be over 30MB!
I have migrated my Mobileme data to iCloud because my iMac supports Lion. However, my wife's iMac, running Snow Leopard cannot be upgraded (if that's the right word) to Lion so cannot migrate. She currently has a .mac email only ID through Mobileme which is functioning OK but my question is, will she still be able to use it when Apple switches off Mobileme?

I'm really confused about how to transfer my Web-based mobile me account to my Mac Mail.I used to have sbcglobal.net as my Mac Mail but it was suspended recently (I was on my father's ATT&T account and he stopped using AT&T).So, now I need to have another one of my email services (don't know what you call that) on my Mac Mail.It makes sense to migrate my Mobile Me over to my Mac Mail I would think.
