MobileMe :: Multiple ICloud Accounts On IPhone?
Jun 23, 2012Just about set to migrate 4 remaining family accounts over. All 4 are currently set up under Mail on iPhone. Anything in particular to watch out for? Do the accounts migrate automatically or do I need to add them as new iCloud accounts rather than MobileMe ones?Also I've migrated one family account already - was going to add it to the iPhone but choosing iCloud account appeared to make it want to use that for Photostream etc by default and it wasn't clerar i could stop it - it is not the account I would want to use.Â
Presumably I can actually have 5 iCloud accounts in iOS mail and just choose one as the default for app/Photo cloud syncing?Wasted too much time on this - think I must have some OCD as I'm making copies of copies of copies of things just in case it all goes wrong.

Jun 13, 2012I have an iMac with Version 10.6.8 OS. When using the Apple Mail Program I am unable to access my .me account. I can access it from the internet using the icloud website and Thunderbird has no problem finding it. With Mail it juct says my username or password are incorrect.

Jul 11, 2008Everytime I go into the Mail tab it has a "Getting Started" qt window over the page. I am in a net cafe travelling thru India and am only able to use Firefox. I can't get this window to disappear, there are no buttons to push or anything else.

OS X :: Won't Save Mail App Messages With Mobileme
Apr 13, 2009A number of times recently when I have opened Mail.app I get a message that says something like identity certificate of smtp.me.com cannot be validated. And I clicked continue anyway.
Anyhow, over the next day since opening it I created about 10 drafts and was working on them, and didn't particularly notice I wasn't receiving mail. I didn't notice anything was wrong until I finished one of the drafts this morning and sent it. It never sent. The window dissapeared but the message didn't appear in drafts or sent. So I took a look at the Activity window and saw about 15 things it was trying to do and not finishing any of them. I went through all my other drafts and tried saving them manually and they wouldn't save. They kept showing the darkened red close button to show thye hadn't been saved.
I went back to Activity and tried hitting the stop sign next to each process, but after doing that I still couldn't save the messages. I guess this was stupid and I wasn't thinking but I thought quitting and reopening might help. So I quit mail and it wouldn't let me quit (quit was grayed out), so I force quit. I reopened mail and that's when I realized something had been wrong since yesterday when I got that security message. I suddenly got 10 e-mails that apparently had been sent to me since yesterday.
I looked in my sent and drafts folders and the message I had sent is nowhere. The messages I had created since the security message yesterday are non-existent. And the messages I had edited since the security message have none of the additions I made to them. I went to mobileme support this morning and I was upset at how clueless the person was. He told me he thought my operating system was corrupted. It was a painful exchange. I called AppleCare and they didn't know what to tell me either and it was awkward. I have my MobileMe setting set to save all my mail on the server but is there a chance it could have saved a localized cached version of these message somewhere? I already looked under Library-->Mail, but it just reflects what's in my inbox.

Jun 18, 2012I successfully moved my mail, bookmarks, calendars, and address book from MobileMe to iCloud yesterday.Per the advice provided here on the forum, I deleted my existing pop mail (i.e., Earthlink) from Mail on my computer before the move. (I kept it on my iPad and iPhone and it appears to be working fine). can I add this pop account back in my desktop mail program so I can both mail accounts in the same place like before?

Jul 13, 2008I have a forwarding email address that I give out to everyone as my main address - it saves hassle with different addresses, changing of ISP and instances such as the Apple shift to Mobile Me. However, I want to set-up MobileMe so that my forwarding address appears as the from address in emails. How can I do this? I've tried to add it as one of the addresses in the Mail app Preferences pane but this seems to create a problem with sending.

Jul 14, 2008I have an Apple laptop and an Apple desktop. Both are running 10.5.4 and have the MobileMe 1.1 s/w update.
On the laptop, I've set up my Mail accounts, contacts, keychains, bookmarks, etc. as I want them.
I access MobileMe in System Preferences and indicate I want all data on MobileMe replaced by the data on my laptop.
As soon as the sync has completed, I access MobileMe in System Preferences on my Desktop and indicate I want all data on my desktop replaced by the data on MobileMe. Unless I'm missing something, the laptop, MobileMe, and the desktop should all by in sync at this point.
Without touching either computer or accessing MobileMe, I'll get a message on my laptop and/or desktop within an hour telling me that more than 5% of my Mail accounts have changed and asking me what I want to do. If I look at the details of the change, the before and after views of the account are absolutely identical. I've tried resetting the sync history via iSync but that doesn't help. I really don't want to alter the changed percentage that triggers the message because it could be useful for Contacts, etc.

I'll give an example: Imagine that I want to send an e-mail to someone, and I want to attach a 10MB file to it. When I do that, the e-mail takes quite some time to send, because I'm not sending 10MB but... 3 or 4 times more!
Exactly. This happens over and over again. The e-mail sent is always 3 or 4 times larger than the original e-mail. I've checked - and re-checked this - several times using iStat widget. If I send a 10MB e-mail, the total upload is going to be over 30MB!
ICloud :: Mail Account When MobileMe Switches Off?

However, my wife's iMac, running Snow Leopard cannot be upgraded (if that's the right word) to Lion so cannot migrate. She currently has a .mac email only ID through Mobileme which is functioning OK but my question is, will she still be able to use it when Apple switches off Mobileme?

May 7, 2012I'm really confused about how to transfer my Web-based mobile me account to my Mac Mail.I used to have sbcglobal.net as my Mac Mail but it was suspended recently (I was on my father's ATT&T account and he stopped using AT&T).So, now I need to have another one of my email services (don't know what you call that) on my Mac Mail.It makes sense to migrate my Mobile Me over to my Mac Mail I would think. If I did that, would that still allow me to have a Mobile Me account that's web based? I also have a lot of files on IDisk which I'm guessing is stored on Mobile Me? So what do I do with all those files as I understand that "the Cloud" is not going to keep all those files? Should I save all those files on an external hard drive. I really wish my 3-year tech support hadn't expired.I'm afraid of screwing things up and losing all my Mobile Me mail which would be a disaster!

May 24, 2012From what I can figure out, MobileMe stores my emails on the server. Does that mean I don't have a copy of my emails on my hard drive even though I check email using the Mail application on my MacBook Pro? Â In the sidebar of Mail I notice there's a section called "On My Mac" with a folder called "Local Backup" with a bunch (but not all) of the same folders that are under ".Mac Account". The most recent email in these folders is from 2010. I have no idea how this folder got there or if it's even needed.Am I obsessing over this for nothing? I feel like I should have a backup of my emails after reading that once I've migrated to iCloud, I'm cut off of MobileMe. I need to delete my MobileMe account from my iPhone before migrating to resolve an Address Book historical sync problem. That means the only copy of my emails will be on MobileMe which I won't be able to get to. Unless of course, Mail saves them somewhere on my hard drive. Â

Jun 9, 2012I suddenly cannot get mail on my IMAP account in Mail 5.2. The rotating 'get mail' symbol continues non-stop. I can send mail, but it is extremely slow to go, and will not send me a copy as requested, even for a 500 byte post. I mostly have to use a dongle for mail/internet, but have now tried from a MacD wifi site too. I can get onto internet OK.
