Software :: How To Make Yahoo Default Mail Application?
Jan 29, 2008
Is there anyway to make Yahoo my default mail app, using Leopard 10.5.1? I can't seem to find anything on Yahoo's site.
Along those same lines, it's very annoying when I accidentally click a link, then Mail.app opens. However, I don't use Mail. Can I just delete the app?
If so, what would happen if I did accidentally click an emailto link (assuming that Yahoo can't yet be a default mail app)?
I have an early 2011 MacBook Pro running OS Lion (10.7.3) and in the last two weeks I face the following problem with the Mail application and my Yahoo mail account: although the account appears in the side bar of the application and it will search for new messages when I launch the Mail app, it doesn't load any messages and I also realised that all Mailboxes of the named account are blank! The messages appear normally when I reach my account through the Yahoo page! I tried to remove and re-import the account in the Mail app, but it just worked for two days and now the Mailboxes are blank again! I have no problems with the other two mail accounts I reach through the same application (both POP accounts).
I am trying to set Apple Mail as my default mail application, but invariably, when I try to send an email from another program, it opens Outlook instead.
How can I make Mail the default mail application for my entire system?
My mail.app seems to be stuck on the wrong sort default. Like most people, I prefer my messages sorted in date order. Somehow, my work mailbox has become stuck on sort by message subject. I can change it to sort by date, however, if I send an email (in any account), it reverts back to sorting by subject. Quitting and restarting Mail.app also reverts it to sort by subject. It now seems to be spreading to my other mailboxes.
Can anyone tell me how I can change my outgoing message font color like from black to Blue and make it default without having to do it manually every time. I can't seem to figure it out.
A few months ago I installed some Thai fonts on my mac book. I downloaded them from this site, and dragged them into Font Book. Unfortunately, one of the fonts I added replaced the default Thai font (used to be Ayuthaya) for MS Office and the Yahoo email compose letter field. Furthermore, Ayuthaya no longer appears on the drop down for MS Office, even though it's in Font Book.
Questions 1) How do I change the fonts back to how they were? 2) How do I add fonts without having this problem?
Is there any way that Mail can be set up to check Yahoo Mail's Spam folder when retrieving emails form the Inbox?I have set my 8 year old daughter an email address up in yahoo. She keeps missing one of her friends emails as it keeps being filtered into Spam.

I was using it without the battery and it seemed like it was very hot to touch.Could you help me find a firewire cble for my Sony Handycam dcr-hc28? Im not sure how many pins I need to fit in my MacBook. And lastly Im having trouble getting my Yahoo mail using the Mail program in my dock. What am I missing?
I'm trying to get Apple Mail to grab my Yahoo mails, but for the life of me can't seem to get it to work.. I dont have the Yahoo Mail PLUS i have the Yahoo Mail free POP..... Can anyone provide some instructions for this syncing?
I've read previous posts, and no one seems to have a current answer. It appears as if the past solutions are no longer working, so does anyone know how to get Yahoo! Mail working on Mac Mail?
I cant log into my yahoo and hotmail mail account after the recent updates done for my Tiger 10.4.11. I can get into the [URL] page, but after writing my username/pass it wont enter! Anyone facing similar problems?
When I want to contact anyone from their "contact Us" link on their web page my computer opens "Mail" automatically. I use gmail and I would like it to be my default email application. How do i change the default email from "mail" to gmail? I use snow leopard.
I have a new iMac with Snow Leopard and do not have the following problem with my MBP using Leopard nor have I been able to duplicate this problem on new iMacs at the Apple Store.
Normally on other computers, the Yahoo Mail email header is at the top of the screen, the view pane is at the bottom of the screen and when I double click the email header, the entire email fills the screen in a new tab.
On this new iMac, double clicking the header does nothing; the email stays split on the screen with the header at the top and view pane at the bottom and no new tab.
I've tried Safari, Firefox, and Chrome and the problem is unique to this iMac. Any suggestions? Is there a preference that I'm missing?
Since upgrading to Snow Leopard, I cannot add an attachment to email using Yahoo mail. Every time I select the file, Yahoo mail begins scanning and it then crashes the browser - happens with any browser and any file.
Searching around suggests there are similar problems for some users but not as pervasive.
it appears that my AT&T Yahoo! mail account uses IMAP to push mail messages to my iPhone. However, every time I try and set up the AT&T Yahoo! mail account in the OS X Mail.app program, it sets it up as a POP account. Can I not have that set up as an IMAP account in Mail.app too!? If not, why?
I have my iCloud email, and gmail set up and there is never a glitch, why does my yahoo continue to pop up and ask me to reenter my password, i have erased and re entered the account twice now and it always happens, i even saved the password in the keychain, why does yahoo not work. it never has this problem on my iPhone.
I cannot view Yahoo mail using the Imac Mail icon. The message is "map.mail.yahoo.com cannot be contacted on port 993". Yahoo technical support is useless.
The title says all. I want to open everything that isn't already associated with an app in textedit, instead of the horridly repetitive and time consuming "open with...". How do I do this?
I've been into macs and OSX for a few years but not really done any real tweaks like changing the default icons. Whats the best free app for changing the icons? Candybar 3?
is there a way in leopard to globally set a default application to open files with a designated ending? for example, my system will open ALL .php files in dreamweaver, while i prefer to have the system open them in bbedit i know there is a way to open a specific file with a certain application but i am finding it annoying to have to do it every time instead of just being able to double click the file and have it opened in the prope application.
