The video is over an hour and a half long.
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy new (2010) 17 inch MBP (i5, 4GB RAM) is converting video from avi to MP4 much more slowly than my older Windows XP machine (Centrino Duo 2Ghz, 2GB RAM). I am using Red Kawa PSP 9. On my MBP it takes about 14 minutes to convert from AVI to MP4. Identical video on my old XP laptop takes about 8 minutes. Any reason why this should be happening? I just don't get it. My MBP should be lightyears ahead in speed than my old HP laptop.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm an old-school Visual Hub user when it comes to converting video formats. Unfortunately, that app is no longer being made and it doesn't solve my current problem so looking for some advice. My nephew won an MP3/video player as part of a contest at school. Its not an iDevice but its a prize and he's enamored with it. The problem is, although it supports video, it only seems to support files formatted in the "MTV" format which I understand to be really limited technology.
Can anyone recommend a decent media conversion program that will let me convert MP4's, AVI's and such to the MTV format? Its likely time I upgrade from Visual Hub anyways so I don't mind spending some money on a useful app. The problem is most of those I see mentioned in the forums here don't specifically mention the MTV format.
I have a bunch of mkv video files with ass subtitles, and I've tried Handbrake, which is fine and dandy except it doesn't support .ass subtitles or the Xvid format. Anyone know a good video conversion software that supports encoding to Xvid/Divx, .ass subtitle, and mp3 audio?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've got the flip4Mac that allows WMV files to play in Quicktime, but it doesn't work too well, so I was wondering if there's something free that I can use to convert a WMV file to AVI, or MPEG, or anything that works normally with Quicktime.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for a professional grade video conversion software that can convert Quicktime (.mov) files to HTML5 video formats such as Ogg Theora and WebM. There are tons of free ones but I haven't found one that does a very good job. I've tried Bigasoft's converters but I'm a bit disappointed with their very basic quality settings. I'd like to have more control over parameters such as bitrates, variable passes, etc.

I want to create a simple flash movie (I don't yet own or know how to use Adobe Flash). Pretty flowers in the background, inspirational music, passages from the Bible or something fading in an out... you know the schtick. Maybe convert it to a screen saver.

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy PowerMac plays most small videos (640p) on YouTube just fine, as well it does an OK job at playing slightly larger videos in Quicktime. I would like to not have to worry about Flash any more. With the new 10.1 beta 2 I notice a nice boost in performance, almost tolerable. If I install a graphics card that supports Core Video will it free up the CPU? How can I tell if a card supports Core Video? As well, what cards do you recommend? Is it difficult to flash a graphics card to work with OS X Tiger in a PowerMac G4?
View 3 Replies View RelatedHere's my problem: I'd very much like to download an embedded flash video from this page: http://bit.ly/d24fEU. (One has to click 'start' for the flash to load.)
But web developers have become wily it seems. No longer do the old methods appear to work. I've tried: Apps for downloading youtube videos, using the Activity window in Safari (only a small SWF file of about 21kb appears in the activity window), numerous Firefox plugins To no avail.
There are apparently apps for Windows that can manage to download these tricky types of videos, is there anything or any method on the Mac? I've been ripping my hair out trying. I've searched the forum, but none of the suggested methods work.
I've been reading, researching, etc like crazy on flashing PC video cards for mac. Cindori's Post: The Golden Guide to Flashing Graphic Cards [URL]. This guide is GOLDEN!! And Rew's post: Step by Step: How to flash a PC 4870 1 Gig Video Card for your 2006 Mac Pro (1,1) [URL]. Have been really helpful. Only my ATI Radeon HD 2600XT stock card in my 2008 mac pro, totally fried/died out. So I have zero video card (I'm using a PC laptop now). And the tutorials on how to flash a PC cards requires plugging in both the old card (using it while dumping the ROM) and new card. I was looking into buy a Sapphire 4870 1G and I don't want to pay the $300 and plus already used flashed cards on eBay. The 4870 are cheaper compared to the 5870 at $400 plus. I was wondering if anybody got to flashing the 4870 using just the one video card on a mac pro 2008 (3.1)? I need a good video card to do 3D modeling in Maya and Mudbox. But don't want to pay double the price, or lesser choice for 'apple' approved hardware?
View 14 Replies View RelatedToday I just bought and installed an (Apple) ATI 4870 for my '06 Mac Pro. It's all gone pretty smoothly, however I have noticed that flash video playback from sites such as Youtube and Vimeo are jerky. Have I missed something about installing a 4870 into an older MP? I thought it was basically plug and play - even though it's not officially supported by Apple. Quicktime movies are nice and smooth. This is under Snow Leopard, so I'm not sure if the problem exists under Leopard but I could probably move my last bootable backup drive into an enclosure with firewire and check things out.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI remember hearing about a Safari plugin or application that converts Youtube videos into Quicktime MOV files. I'm doing a Powerpoint presentation and there's two online videos that I would like to convert to MOV to imbed in a Keynote presentation.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhenever I run a flash video, according to my istats program, the CPU temp is between 65c to 67c. Is this normal? I never noticed this high temp on my previous 2.4 umbp. There are other sites that have flash video that makes it go up to 80-85c.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWe have a 13 inch white macbook (2010).A few weeks ago, the fan started running all the time at tremendous speeds. Here are the things I've tried:SMC reset. This did not help.PRAM reset. This seems to have helped a little. Whereas the fan was on high speed as soon as the computer booted before the PRAM reset, after I did this, it is seems to kick in only after a browser is opened.Update the latest version of 10.6.I've checked the Activity Monitor--nothing seems to be eating up a lot of resources. It's 80 to 90% idle when the fan is revved up.The bottom does not feel hot. I'm not sure how to check the temperature monitors on a mac. I also don't know the mac command to check the CPU temp. (I'm more of a linux guy usually).
I think this is related--the day we noticed the fan, Hulu videos--not high def, just the middle range, 360 option), started stuttering. This is not a buffering problem, because the buffer is full. But the videos drop a few frames a second, or so it seems. The audio is ok, I think.I've updated Flash, but that did not help either problem.

a short question to the experts out there. I wanna capture the following kick-ass web-exclusive live performance by Jenny & Johnny on my hard disk:
[URL]
I want to achieve this in the best quality possible, meaning that the best thing would preserving the quality (which already is very compressed, of course) 100%. The final format would be mp4 to include it to my iTunes library, so the best thing would be a direct convert without an AVI-step or something like that between.
I'm using iMovie 06 and I need to get a flash animation into it, how to make these files compatible so that my animation can appear in my iMovie project?
View 3 Replies View RelatedJust noticed that when I'm lying on the bed with my MBA on my legs, watching so [URL]videos....it starts skipping in about 10-15 minutes.
I don't see core shutdowns.....but actually the video/audio is going to desync and starts skipping....is this normal? Do I have to get a MB/MBP just to watch Hulu and flash videos?
I think this may be related to the temperature, but usually it's not that hot.
Sometimes when I'm streaming flash videos (youtube and other sites) the video pauses, even though it has loaded the rest of the video. It usually locks up Firefox for about 20 seconds and then continues playing the rest of the video. What could this be? I am running the latest version of flash as well. Maybe I don't have enough cache allotted to handle it in Firefox?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a Late 2008 Unibody MacBook Pro. I love it, it's great. I upgraded to a 500gb HD and 4GB of RAM.Since I purchased it, Flash videos (Vimeo, YouTube, etc..) are jerkey in both Safari (3.0 and 4.0) and in Firefox (3.0 and 3.5). I've tried updating my Flash player, and just nothing seems to work. The audio plays fine, but the video stutters almost every few seconds. My video settings are on "Best Performance".
