I have my macbook pro with Leopard last update 10.5.6.
Problem:
I open Software Update in System Preferences, click on "Check now", Software Update starts BUT never reach the end.
Every think works fine, expect the Software Update.
What I can do to fix this problem?
Trying to install aux connectors for the graphics card. but it seems almost impossible with the fan in the way, I can't even get near them.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhenever I try to boot my MacBook, it chimes and shows the apple logo & loading gear like normal, but then the screen goes blue briefly as if everything is fine (sometimes the mouse even appears) but then returns to the loading gear (without an Apple logo). This continues without end, a brief blue screen and then the loading gear again.I tried safe booting, zapping the PRAM, fsck, and the Disk Utility repair to no avail.Trying to verify or repair the permissions in Disk Utility stops with a nondescript error. When I try booting in verbose mode, it gets to the login application startup and shows 2 apparent errors:"(Error) Import: importer;0x88fe00 importer start failed for 89 (kr:268435459 (ipc/send) invalid destination port)"and something containing "(/usr/sbin/mDNSResponder) no such file or directory"For reference, this is a MacBook running OSX 10.5.4.

View 4 Replies View RelatedA friend gave me a wired version of the Apple Mighty Mouse. I use my right hand whenever i'm using a mouse but the cable is way to short to wrap around to the right side of my 13inch MBP.
Anyone in this similar predictcament before? did you learn to use it with your left hand or something?
I'm facing an issue with my MacBook Pro Mid 2010. It hangs on startup and only shows a white screen with the Apple logo and an activity indicator.Â
I already tried:
- Replacing the HDD with a new SSD with Mavericks installed (if I put this SSD into another MacBook everything works fine)
- when trying to boot in Safe Mode it reaches about 25% in the progress bar and then shuts down
- same when I boot in Single User Mode
- when I boot in verbose mode I'm getting this outputÂ

I got an Airport express and for the first couple of months i've been fin and learning how to use it.
I set it up so i have 2 profile settings....
one of them is my home setting that takes the express and connects it to my currently working network and extends it wirelessly.
the second setting takes it and disables internet and sets up a wireless network to connect and pay air tunes.
Now every time i take the express past the reach of the home network it just freezes in the yellow blinking sate and wont let me find it with the airport utility.
Now i have the second profile set up for it to work, but the problem is that it wont let me connect to it to change it, so it just keeps blinking forever... untill i bring it back into the range of my home network.
I've recently upgraded to Snow Leopard and decided to use boot camp to reinstall XP on a secondary partition. The problem I'm having is with getting some programs notably Trillian and Steam to keep their connection. Sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. I am in university halls of residence so I have had to set up some port forwarding to get Steam to connect at all but it's always tantalisingly out of reach.
Steam for example sometimes loads fine but then won't load a game it brings up the 'Game is unavailable' error. Sometimes I can get into team fortress 2 but can't locate any servers, sometimes I can get a server list to populate but cant load the game. Sometimes it doesn't even load Steam at all and fails on the updating step. Trillian has similar problems, sometimes dropping the connection and sometimes running perfectly fine. At first I though this was a firewall issue due to the ports but after I managed to get each step to work at different times, just never together, I began to doubt that.
Yesterday Apple released Safari 5.0.1 and Magic Trackpad and Multi-Touch Trackpad Update 1.0, but Software Update on my Mac makes me able to download only the first one (Safari 5.0.1) - which I did. Why can't it find the Multi-Touch Trackpad Update?
- My MacBook is fine (it's 13-inch, Mid 2009).
- My OS is fine (Mac OS X v10.6.4).
Sure, I can download it manually, BUT it makes me really annoyed if something on my Mac works not as good as it should.
I have problems since applying the latest security Update 2009-001 and Java 10.5 Update 3, I have 10.5.6 on the new unibody 2.4ghz and have completely lost the ability to connect to my wireless access point which is an apple airport extreme base station.
I can sometimes se the base station but cannot connect to it and sometimes cannot see it at all. I have three other apple computers at home all less then a year old running the same build of 10.5.6 but have not updated them and they all are fine.
This one was perfect untill I applied the update.
The machine I am having problems with is partitioned with windows 7 beta on it which has no problems connecting to the base station, which indicates that its not a hardware problem but more then likely the update which is causing the problem.
Is there a way to uninstall the last update or delete it? Any one with a similar problem or know how I can fix it, I have googled but cannot seem to find anyone with similar problems.

I updated with the latest Lion patch yesterday and since then Entourage has either hung or taken a very long time to update from our 2003 Exchange server (I have MS Office 2011 but as you're probably aware, there are issues integrating with a 2003 Exchange server). how this might be fixed, short of updating both our 2003 Windows Server to Windows Server 2008 x64 and Exchange to 2010 so I (the only Mac user out of 85 staff) can use Outlook 2011?

The reason I ask is that started setting up Smart Playlists for all of the artists on my computer and they're all set to live update which is consequently slowing down my itunes. I realize that I may not necessarily need that. My question is though...how exactly would I go about manually updating a smart playlist that has live updating turned off?

Started the 10.7.4 install, and it halted. Turned my Mac off, started it back up, and apparently the 10.7.4 update didn't install, but it has caused the Mail function to not work AT ALL - I get a long error report that is auto sent to Apple.Â
I downloaded Lion from the Apple store, but have my Snow Leopard disk. How do I go about re-installing Mail?Â

bootcamp is telling me i have to update my software inorder to use bootcamp assistant (im setting bootcamp up for the first time) anyways mac was installed a few days a go so i know it doesnt need to be reinstalled ive already repaired my disk permissions and of course i have tryed to update my software: its up to date apparently im ot the only one whos had this issue (i researched before i decided to ask)im running 10.6.4 on a 2007 imac so its intel based thats not an issue

I actually thought Apple had stopped offering Software Update to third parties, as the only other one I can think of is the Stuffit update that appeared several years ago on fresh installs of OS X (not sure if it still does).

Superdrive Firmware Update 3.0 fails each time, /Applications/Utilities/SuperDrive Update.app asks me to quit all apps and try again which I did but of no. I also retried with a reboot.

"Software Update can't connect to the Update Server" - so I can't even check to see if updates are available.This has been going on for sometime. For a while if I created a new admin account and used that it would work, but not today.Tried creating a new admin account but to no avail.

So it's not my internet connection and it's not the Apple server, so it's something about the Mac Mini that's not right.

I am trying to update my Mac book because it is saying that software updates are available (Mac OS X Lion version 10.7.3). But I keep getting a message saying "Some of the selected updates could not be installed. Software updates can't connect to the update server. After doing the update to OS X 10.7.4 on my MacBook Pro, I am experiencing a few problems. First all my applications would not open any more - almost none of them - so now I am running them all in 32-bit mode. This also happened with Safari after the last update. The second problem, my sofware update is not responding anymore? When I do a software update, it fails, giving me a problem report. The report is pasted below below.Â
