The Macbook of a friend of mine doe not boot anymore after an abordet Itunes-Upadte yesterday evenig. How ever, the Save-Boot-Log tells me, that
"The System bootstrapper has crashed: Trace/BPT trap: 5" I assume that i have to reinstall OS X to get the Macbook run again. This is where i'm sure, whether the Install via Recovery-Partition -> Reinstall Lion does a complete Clean-Install (all Data that's been on the HDD will be gone) or does "only" some Repair-Install-Stuff which preserve the personal Data and Software on the HDD. Nevertheless i'm going to Backup (CCC) the broken installation to be on the safe side anyway.

I am using OS X 10.9.4 on a MacBook Pro. When I launch the Calendar app (Version 7.0 (1841.1)), I don't see any of my event. I have to go to the Window menu and click Calendar. The app crashes pretty often. Can I reinstall it without losing my calendar data?

I upgrade my iCloud to iCloud Drive when I used the Yosemite . Yesterday, I reinstall Mavericks and then iCloud is not working anymore. I can't see iCloud in Pages , Numbers, Sketch 3 , etc. I can't access any iCloud Data anymore and I can't work at home now.
Is there any way to download iCloud Drive or how to do to support iCloud Document and data again in current Mavericks.

My MB Air is not booting (I get the ever gray Apple logo screen with the spinning wheel, and nothing happens) Following instructions I found online, I tried the disk utility repair disk and permissions and, apparently, there's nothing wrong. Still, the system won't boot!
I'm now trying to reinstall Mac OS X Lion, but the system requires about 0.5 GB of additional free disk space to install!
Is there anyway I can access the OS terminal screen (command line interface), so I may delete a few files, creating additional disk space?

I have a EMac with Mac OS X vs 10.3.9 Prior user erased hard drive. Took to ADR data recovery and they scanned the hard drive and were unable to recover any data. Looking for input on other techniques to recover data from hard drive or other companies that specialize in Mac data recovery.

So, I'm trying to recover some lost files. I put it on Data recovery 3. Everything went fine until the power in my house went out, stopping the entire process. NOW when I try to run the process, it just stalls at 33,3%, with no indication of how much time left...
Need some help here. My friend is a DJ and had an external drive with tens of thousands of songs on it. The plug broke on it and I think that corrupted it since Eject was not used. I pulled the 3.5in HDD out of the case and hooked up up with some other external plugs I have.
When I run Data Rescue 3 on it, it shows that it sees almost all of these and the only two formats it counts up are mpeg and mp3s. Data Rescue then finishes the scan and has a bunch of crap files that are not needed, but none of the songs show up. What is going on here? Did I miss something in Data Rescue 3.
The drive is a 1TB drive and the backup drive we are using is 640GB, but there was only about 250GB of music on the drive to begin with.

I would like to make a fresh and clean install of Snow Leopard. I have a MacBook Pro Late 2008 and it came with 10.6. I did upgrade to 10.6 last year when it came out but now I would like to wipe everything off it, format it and reinstall 10.6 so it looks brand new. How do I do that? Do I need to install 10.5 first and then 10.6 or can I directly install 10.6? And what application do I need to load?

i have snow leopard and had some issues with safari. I uninstalled it and now i can't find where to download it from. The link on the apple website is for either tiger of leopard. I downloaded the leopard one, but it will not install on my computer because it is 10.6.1 instead of 10.5.8 or later. I have looked around, but can't find where to download it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm selling my late 2007 15" MBP and I want to leave some of the software that's on there to justify my price tag. However, I will be doing a clean install of Snow Leopard on it to erase all my information and account, but how do I preinstall some of the software so that when the new guy gets it, he also has the software that I chose to put on there as a sort of bonus?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI love my mac, and I know people swear by them but lately, things have just been falling apart on my mac. For starters, note the weird graphics on the dock in the attachment. Secondly, my mac doesn't always shut down, it sometimes stalls on the blue screen with the spiral thingy and other times it just stalls on a blank desktop. Then I get other strange, irregular problems from time to time, I am wondering if I am doing something wrong or if I should just start again. I have a RevA MBA, running Snow Leopard.

So I re-install Leopard, all the old files put in the "Previous system" folder, then upgraded to snow leopard, got it all updated. I found that all my old mail are gone. So all the old mail has been downloaded to Mail before, and I can not find it in hotmail site again. is there any way I can get back my old mail from the Previous System folder?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am planing on selling my MBP. I needed to erase everything and reinstall OS X. I reformatted the drive, everything went ok. It started to install 10.5 but part way through the install, it froze at a time. I let it sit for about an hour. No change. Trying to click any of the menu icons at the top resulted in beach balling. I then, after reading advice, hard shut off the machine and rebooted to retry the install. Now, I just get a folder with a question mark and, when pressing "c" to have it boot from disk, it reads it, then ejects it. I need help to fix the problem. This is on a Macbook Pro Late 2007 edition.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI was verifying my permissions on my mbp and it had some errors. All of them repaired besides one, that specifically says it 'has been modified and will not be repaired.' Is there anyway to fix this, should I not worry about it, or should I try reinstalling my SL?
View 2 Replies View RelatedRecently my Macbook Pro had froze so I turned off the system by way of the power button. When I attempted to turn it back on I was stuck on the Startup Screen with the Apple and have not been able to get past that for several days. I had tried every solution I could look up without the use of the Mac OS X CD , which was not available to me at the time. I finally have the CD and first I tired to run disk utility on my HD (Hitachi HTS545032B9SA02 Media). Under First Aid I have no options present, not Repair Disk, nor Verify Disk, and not even Verify Disk Permissions or Repair Disk Permissions. At a loss there I attempted to reinstall Mac OS X. When I attempt that, I am brought to "Select Destination". The "Examining Available Disks" process runs but finds no options for me to reinstall Mac OS X. Again at a loss I attempt to erase the hard drive, as nothing drastically important is on the Hard Drive, when I attempt to do so. After about one second I get this message "Disk Erase failed with the error: Operation timed out". So... now. I'm completely at a loss. Is there any advice anyone can give me before I bring this to an Apple Store or is it completely hopeless. The version of OS X I have is 10.6. If any other information is needed for you to solve this problem I'll get it to you.
View 4 Replies View Relatedmy MBP (early 2008) seems to have a corrupted SMC.Operations that i think are managed by the SMC like booting and sleeping are having big issues: First, to boot OSX needs about 10 minutes. After presing the power-buton the chime sounds and the apple logo appears. OSX starts loading.
Then it suddenly stops and a blue screen appears. This blue screen stays there for several minutes. Then i can hear a little sound from the hard disc and the desktop appears as always and i can use OSX without any problems. Second, to get the MBP to sleep isnt working at all. Closing the MBP leads to a black screen, while the fans etc are still working. There is no way to wake it up again, so i have to do a force shut down.
I already formated the hard disc and reinstalled OSX 10.6 twice, but the problem still occurs. And I already tried to reset the SMC (pressing 5sec power button etc) and tried to clean the PRAM. I have no clue if the resets were actually done. I didnt have to enter passwords etc again like i was expecting to do after a PRAM-Reset. Is there a way to reinstall the SMC? I tried to but i got the message "Firmware is already up to date. No update necessary."

Safari 5.1.3 is a disaster. Ever since I upgraded a week ago I have had nothing but heartache, with multiple issues cropping up, all of them seemingling unfixable. As it turns out I have a backup of my system that has my previous, non-heartache version of Safari 5.1.2. My question is simple: Now that I've "upgraded" to Lion 10.7.3 and Safari 5.1.3, can I simply overwrite Safari 5.1.3 with the previous 5.1.2 version and get on with my life? Or will various changes throughout the system cause me more misery? Otherwise, I may just roll my whole system back to last week's backup and get on with my life.
