Software :: Pasting Photos - Finding Application For Digital Photography?
Sep 7, 2010
is there a program which i can use to paste photos digitally on to a page for lack of a better term to make a mosaic of different picture so i can print or email it
I'm looking for a program where I can take pictures with my digital camera and see them on the mac exact the same time I took the picture (plugged in via usb)
I am not able to get 20 pictures off my digital Kodak EasyShare DX4530 to my computer using a USB cable and ImageCapture or iPhoto. The photos appear (I can see all the photos and files) but I am unable to transfer them or even open them and get information off. I think that this is because the pictures are saved on the Kodak camera's internal memory. What can I do to get around this problem?
Can you plug a digital camera into the TC's USB port and upload photos? I tried plugging it in but the camera didn't show up anywhere. Can anyone confirm if this is possible or not?
I have imported photos from my digital camera to my iPhoto and when I try to view them, I just see a gray box with an exclamation point? How can I fix this so my photos will show up? It has always worked correctly in the past.
Does anyone know of a simple full screen digital clock app? I just want a red or a green digital clock with hh:mm:ss on a black background to have running on the the TV on NYE during our party so that we don't miss the countdown. Any ideas? Googling turns up a heap of iPhone apps and some defunt OS X apps but nothing that'd work.
After installing Snow Leopard on both of my computers, I have found that while the computers recognize my digital camera it will not allow me to import photos into i-photo and eventually you have to just force quit i-photo to get out of it.
I have a problem with my Iphoto application. When i open my Iphoto a text box opens up and asks if i would like Iphoto to connect to my digital camera, even though i do not have my camera plugged in. when i go to click one of the three options it freezes up and then must be force quit. I've tried to let it run it coarse in hope that it comes out of the frezze but this has not worked.
I am in the market for a digital SLR at a decent price - not wanting entry-level as such but don't need to pay big-bucks for a pro model.
Basically it is for two purposes:
1) Getting started in Digital SLR photography
2) Photography buildings and architecture on an upcoming trip to the Middle East.
So, a couple of friends who know about this have recommended the Nikon D40 - I have seen this model and priced it and it looks a good deal.
My main question is that it is around 6 MP - I have heard many pros and cons re this...is it a problem? Is this camera the best in its price-range or are there any other suggestions?
I'm looking for an alternative to OS X's DigitalColor Meter under Utilities. I'm looking for a Mac equivalent to ColorPic on Windows [URL]. The drawbacks of the DigitalColor Meter are that I can't copy the HTML color code in one click of a button, and that I can't capture more than one color at a time.
Close to pushing the 'buy now' button on an IMac after using Windows for a looong time, wondering what software I should be looking at to manipulate photos. From what I read iPhoto (Or Picasa for Mac?) will let me organise stuff perfectly fine but is a little basic for editing, Photoshop is WAY too expensive.
Which leaves what other options? I have PaintshopPro (old version, 7) on Windows, AFAICS its not available on Mac, Irfanview(free) which is excellent for basics like resizing (I presume iPhoto handles this?), and DCEnhance which is also free and does some automagic type changes to bring more detail out of shadows or put it back into highlights - any equivalents, either for free or pay?
Looks like Aperture might do the business, is that the 'tool of choice' for people who dont want to pay or have the large learning curve for Photoshop?
I am by no means a professional photographer, but I do love to take photos. I have about 9,000+ photos in iPhoto now, but Im looking for something a little more advanced. I will retouch my photos from time to time, but more so, I want to organize my photos better. I notice a lot of people use Aperture and Lightroom, and I was wondering if someone had opinions of the two, and which would be the better way to go.
I am in the market for a new monitor, I would look at matte IPS monitor, but so far (and I haven't done that much research so far) I have only really found the Dell 2209wa which looks great but its only 1680x1050 and I would much prefer 1920x1200 or something to that extent. Those are really my only requirements matte and 1920+ but I also don't want to go above 24" because then it just starts getting too big (especially since it will be in a dorm room next year).
I currently have a 17 inch Unibody macbook pro. It has a C2D 2.66, 4gb of ram, a 9600 512mb videocard and a 120gb SSD. I use it for general web-browsing, itunes, e-mail, and amateur photography with photoshop CS5 and Lightroom 3. I have the oportunity to trade in my macbook pro for a 27 inch IMac, with an I7 processor, 8gb of ram and a 1tb Harddrive. My question is if it will be worth it? I hardly use the laptop has a portable solution, it is mainly a desktop replacement, so I'm not too concern about portability. My concern is going from a C2D with SSD to an I7 with HDD. For my use, will the I7 be really faster? Or will the SSD on the macbook make the system feel faster? Look forward to hear from you. Have to decide today, as I have the Imac reserved until tomorrow.
I've just been to a wedding and I've got 1000+ photos. I like using iPhoto's Auto Enhance feature but you have to do that photo by photo. Do you know of any software that can do the same job but all the photos at once ? or maybe in 5 batches ? You get the idea.
I have a MPB 15" bought on the very day of release. I am now using it to edit photos for selling to various publishers. Do I need to get a monitor calibrator like the Spyder3 Pro?
I went to this link to perform 'by eye' checks on my screen: [URL]
my monitor is uncalibrated, yet it passed the tests with the following scores: white test: 253 is distinguishable from white black test: 7 is distinguishable from black hue test: the two samples are clearly distinguishable gamma: standing back the middle grey matches the outside gray
These tests were seemingly meant to show how bad an uncalibrated monitor would fare. However it came out very well.
I am considering purchasing two monitors for my computer at home (since its easier to work with two bigger monitors then one). What are good monitors for their price? I am considering either the view sonic VA2223wm or Hanns G HH221.
This s the first time i've used this forum. I'm new to Mac having been a Windows user for 15 years. I am absolutely loving using it, but am struggling to play a DVD. I have downloaded some content using a torrent and selected the 'burn to dvd' option. However, can someone let me know how I can now view this? Ideally I would like to view this in my DVD player. Is there an additional piece of software i need or am i just missing a step?
i have been searching for a notepad application for awhile ever since i saw some random person in my college using it, well its not really a notepad application more of listing notepad with lines.
I'm looking for an application that will essentially allow me to tag words or sentences instead of files. As an example, I can place "Batman" in the document and tag it with "Movie", "Comic Book", "Super Hero", etc. In the future when I want to see all the comics I'm interested in, I can search "Comic Book" in the document and only "Batman" and other words tagged with "Comic Books" will come up. Just like punakea or tagbot but within a document.
Some apps, like tweetie for example have a global show/hide shortcut. I want to set it for some of my other apps that do not have this feature built in, is there an app for that?
I use ComputerTime application for managing parental controls on my Windows machines. However, I do not know of an equivalent application on the Mac. Is there an application for the Mac that offers parental control like:
1. Specifying when a child can log in to the Mac? 2. What day a child can use the Mac? 3. How much time is allowed per day for use on the Mac and where each session totalled up will not exceed the total allowed time per day? 4. How long each session is allowed?
i am in search for the best cloning application to clone & backup my the main Hard Drive. I do not mind paying for it. Free is better!
I just have way too many stuff installed on my main hdd. I just cant imagine that hdd failing and the time I have to spend to install everything back..
I'm still using a Mac os x version 10.4.8 and my stickies application recently decided not to open anymore even though I was using it fine the other day. It jumps up once and then nothing happens, the problem with this is I wrote home work on it. However I'm past the point of thinking it will recover any information so where can I download stickies version 5.2 ?
I still DO NOT understand why apple does not have a cut functionality in the mac. It is really frustrating, as having the cut capability is very useful when moving multiple files through different directories. So is there a way to get this functionality?
