OS X :: Unable To Recover Password With Install Disc?

Aug 13, 2007

The computer asked me to log in. This is odd, because he has the computer set to automatically log in. Anyway, I input his username and the new password. The computer rejected the new password, which I am absolutely sure was spelled and typed correctly. I tried entering the password using both his short name and long name. Neither worked.

MacBook Pro :: Password Crisis - MBP Won't Reset With OSX Disc?

Nov 9, 2009

My 2009 aluminum 15 in. MBP running 10.6 snow leopard has a dum guy (me) running it as administrator. I forgot the exact password I set it up with in June when I opened it. So, I used password assist in the accounts setup to reset it. Well, I 4got that one right away, didn't write it down!

The Help index above steps one thru using the OSX installer and its Utilities tab to restart. The original two OSX discs didn't have that option, the recent Snow Leopard upgrade does - but, I tried the restart process with its Utilities path and got the dreaded rainbow pinwheel of death all night while I slept.

Anybody, I plead for assistance in reseting this system admin. password when I have the actual OSX discs - yet they do not work. Becuz I never logged out (and I have another Mac in the house), I am able to post & read here still with some spell of luck.

Intel Mac :: Forgot Name / Password And Install Disc Does Not Allow To Reset It

May 16, 2012

I forgot the Name and Password I set up to log into my imac. It is an older imac, from 2006 and I can't remember which version operating system. I have tried to use the install disc to reset the password, but it does not allow me to do so. Is there a way to reset the name and password without the install disc? For as long as I can remember whenever I would turn on my mac there would be an image that I had chosen and then a field to enter password. Just recently I turned on my mac and the image or avatar was no longer coming up and it asked for Name and Password. I have tried every combination I can think of and nothing works. I have tried to reset using my install disc, but it says that I do not have a password to reset.

OS X :: Kernel Panic And Disc Eject - Cannot Log Into System?

May 11, 2009

I got the kernel panc recently and I rebooted and it went away for a few days. so yesterday I put a few modest mouse CDs on my iTunes and on the second to last I e I accidently pulled it out at an angle making the cd bend(not sure if this is relevant) and I put in tv next one, and after downlaoding it, it wouldn't eject. it would b remved from my desk top and iTunes list but wouldn't comeout. it would make the noises as if it would. so then I got the kernel panic again and I rebooted and it would make the noise and go to the white screen and tv man the noise again and then restart again and again and again. each time it would try to eject but it won't. it'll spin the disc the try to eject and I'll hear a few soft clicks or taps afterwords. I tryed logging on in safe boot and that worked for about 10 minutes but then got the kernel panic. no I can't log in any way. this is a pretty new iMac and I did nothing to harm it!

There is a noise from the Disc Drive, when you put your ear close you can hear the Disc spinning, occasionally it starts to make a loader noise like its trying to spin to full speed maybe, but stops before it can. Green light can be seen from bottom, tried unplugging and waiting, tried pressing the cmd R-P keys down at start up. Also tried as suggested on the apple website to use a paper clip to manually eject the disc.

MacBook :: Using Recovery Disc - Will I See Trackpad In System Preferences

Jun 10, 2009

I seem to have misplaced the recovery discs for my brand new macbook. I'm thinking about upgrading the hard drive to a 500 gb store bought one but I have a question about the lack of a recovery disc.

I have a family pack of leopard licenses for other machines and one to spare which I have no problem using, but I was wondering if that leopard installation would install the trackpad features for my macbook. Will I see trackpad in system preferences? Will it work just like it did?

If so, I don't really care about the recovery disc. Otherwise, I might have to invest in another one.
