Software :: Mac Not Reading HP Printer - Print Job Manager Failed
Nov 1, 2008
I just got the hp photosmart c7280 all-in-one printer in march, at the same time as my macbook pro. They worked fine together until a coffee spill claimed that computer. Now I have the more recently updated macbook pro and they will not 'talk' to each other. The macbook gets everything ready to print but will not, it says "print job manager failed". How do I get my new computer and new printer to work together?

I moved up to the HP P1006 since my 1020 was not compatible with 10.6. It has been working great until a hotel sent me a receipt in pdf format. I open the file try to print from the pdf and from the mac, both ways and I get this:
/usr/libexec/cups/filter/pstoraster failed
I am not a techie, and have no idea what that means. Anyone have an idea?

I'm new to Mac OS X, but have been working with Linux for almost 9 yrs now. I have set up a Linux box with CUPS 1.3.9. I can print from the server, and from other Linux stations to that remote server. However, I can't print from a client MacBook.
I set up CUPS on the client Mac via http://localhost:631 and created a printer associated with the remote queue / printer on Linux (the URL I use on OS X is http://mylinuxserver:631/printers/hpprinter and the driver is RAW).
I have no problems sending a test page from the CUPS web interface on Mac OS X to the Linux server -- the test page gets printed OK. However, I can't see the printer I just defined from other Mac OS X apps, and neither can I see it from the Add Printer Dialog on System Preferences (it's empty).
I tried creating the printer at the Add Printer dialog, but it would neither let me specify an HTTP URL (as far as I know, I had to use the IP icon on the toolbar) nor specify "RAW". So I tried creating a "dummy" printer in the Add Printer dialog, with a basic config, and then changing it from the CUPS web GUI. This didn't work either, since when I went back to the Add Printer dialog, the printer was gone.

I'm using a MacBook, Mac OS 10.5.8. I've downloaded the driver for HP LaserJet m1319f MFP and the printer worked fine when I connect it directly to my MacBook (using USB connection). The problem is that printer is supposed to be connected to our office network users through a TP-Link Print Server (TL-PS110U). I've tried to use AppleTalk to connect to that print server but my MacBook only recognized that HP printer as a HP Fax machine and I can't print anything.

I was having problems printing from my Canon LBP6000. Print jobs remained held in the queue. I uninstalled and reinstalled the Mac CAPT Ve r340 driver from Canon's website, no improvement. The printer works fine with my Windows laptop. I found an option to remove all printers from the Print preferences section. I can't remember how I did this, but all printers were removed. I reinstalled the above driver, but now in the 'print & scan' - 'add printer' section, I have no printer options. And no idea how to get printer options.

I am on a Macbook Pro running OS 10.7.3, and until some time ago I was being able to print on a HP Laserjet P1102w shared over ethernet from a iMac running OS 10.5.8. Then something happened (probably as a result of an update) and I can't print on that shared printer any more. The error I get on the printer is that annoying /usr/libexec/cups/backend/dnssd failed, OR the "authentication required" message. The printer works just fine on the iMac.I tried several fixes posted here and there such as re-setting the printing system and re-adding the printer in both machines, tried to fix it over the CUPS interface,URL]Unfortunately nothing worked. I noticed two weird things: 1) When I try to change the settings in the cups interface at the iMac, it won't let me apply the changes, it's like it is locked... 2) When I pull out the console at the MacBook, the log for the time the error comes out is: kernel: IOSurface buffer allocation size is zeroCan

My family owns 2 MacBooks plus XP desk top and Vista laptop. Wireless setup is provided with an older linksys a/b/g router and Comcast Cable Modem. The 2 MacBooks have frequent problems printing to the Brother 5250 DN printer, with connect fails. I have to reset the IP addresss frequently to get the printers to work with the wireless side of the network. The Windows OS PC's don't experience this problem. I am at a loss as to why the Macs have this IP problems.

Made a custom TCP/IP port on the PC. Assigned my Mac's IP address 192.16.1.101 as the location of the printer. Made sure protocol was set to RAW. Everything should work but the print job never makes it to the Mac. The print que on the PC shows error and the print que on the Mac never shows anything. I decided to delete all the printers on the PC, plug it in directly to the printer via usb and let it install the drivers, print test page etc... After that I reconnected the printer to the mac, pc to the network and just changed the port on the printer properties to reflect the IP address. It still didn't work. I can't seem to find any more information on what to do next. The PC is running Win XP and the Mac is on Leopard. Another thing, how does the PC know which printer to use if the Mac has two attached? I disabled sharing on the other printer thinking the PC might have been confused.

I can't seem to figure out how to add a printer, everything on the printer is setup. I can see the printer in my network (see photo, it's the EXROX-ALLINONE), but when I add it, it won't print anything, just waits and waits. I do know the internal ip for that printer if that helps.
I don't get how I can see the printer when I add it, but it just won't print.

We have a broken networkport on our HP Laserjet P2015dn, and need it to print from 4 macs in the office. 3times osX 10.4.11 and 1time osX 10.6.4 (all except 1 non-intel; running windows XP via Parallels and connected on the general office network). I am currently sharing the printer via USB (broken networkport) connected via a Mac using 10.4.11. I can print from every Mac, obviously. However, I can't print or know how to set this up for use in Windows (parallels).

I have my HP all-in-one connected to an 802.11g Airport Extreme via ethernet, and through Bonjour I've been printing to it from a Core Duo Mac mini, and a 12" and 15" Powerbook. However, all of a sudden every single application on my three computers "unexpectedly quits" when I go to File>Print or hit command-P. I can't print anything! The only thing I can think of that might have gone wrong is maybe something happened with the 10.4.10 update and the printer drivers?

I just got an HP Photosmart C4250 and it doesn't print with the black cartridge. Yes, it's cartridge is properly installed inside of the printer but I really have no idea what it could be.
Is there a change the cartridge that came with in the box with it might just be defective or what?

I have my printer, epsonNX4 shared from my server to the windows boxes, but I'm trying to get it to work on the mac to.
The mac sees it and can print from it, but it prints blank pages. I went and downloaded the print, scan, copy drivers from EPSON's site, but how do I tell it to use those drivers?
It never appeared in the printer list of Add Printer popup.

Today, for some reason I can't print to our networked printer, a Kyocera FS-6950DN laser. All I am getting now is a 'Network host is busy, will retry in 10/15 secs' and the job just holds.Â
So, what have I tried. To eleminate any printer issues I have successful managed to print direct from my MacBook (also running OSX 10.6.8) without a problem. So the printer seems fine. However, if a connect directly (again via a single ethernet cable) to my MacPro it won't print. I have deleted the printer and created a new one. Actually, I have done this several times. When I go to create a new printer I can see the printer listed a a bonjour printer. I select it, then I use 'generic postcript'. I can choose the my printer here, but I seem to remember that this was a problem when I set it up originally and I was advised to use the generic option. I click add and that used to work. But not now. I have checked that the printer has a static ip address and it does. I have also tried adding the printer as an IP printer and adding the IP address etc maually, but again this doesn't work. I've tried this both with LPD set or IPP set. I get the same busy error message. Â
Trawling the net I have noticed lots of people with Kyocera print issues relating to the latest OSX Snow Leopard 10.6.8 update. Although having succesfully printed from my MacBook that would suggest that 10.6.8 isn't the issue in my case.Â
I should also say that I have done the usual... repaired the permissions and reset the PRAM etc. I have ping tested the connection from my MacPro and there is a response from the printer. It's just not finding the printer when I send the job to print?

(UK Version)I am trying to connect to the printer but the printer is not appearing in my Print/Fax Preferences. When I click the box "More Printers" under the Default printer the drop down box gives me a heading "Canon IPv6 (UFRII) with the option to add or cancel. (The add is highlighted). But there are no printers showing in the box. Nothing. Is there a problem with my Mac setup or maybe a setting in my printer?

I have a networked printer in my home network. I also have a (working) PPTP VPN set up to connect to that home network while on the road. When I open the VPN tunnel, I can adress all devices on the network, including the printer. I can ping it as well as open its Web front end (via Safari). The only thing that doesn't work is: I can't print over the tunnel! I've tried turning on "send all traffic over VPN", but that didn't help. Some research on the web seems to indicate that the solution lies in an option "Exclude Local LAN from Tunnel". This, however, is not an option for the built-in PPTP client in Lion.Â

I have a legacy HP LaserJet 1200 printer, that I've had forever and it STILL makes excellent copies so I'm hard pressed to replace it. However... when printing PDF docs, it takes FOREVER to print a page. Like as long as 10+ minutes. But only PDFs. All other doc formatted files print instantly as expected.I assumed it was a memory issue, so I installed as much RAM as possible in the printer, but this had no effect whatsoever I called HP and they don't have any new drivers or tricks to make PDFs print more timely.Does anyone have any tricks or thoughts, other than buy a new printer. When I have to print a PDF I just let let it sit and do it's thing. But right now I have a 40 page PDF and it will take all afternoon, seriously. The copies BTW, when the do print are gorgeous and crisp.
