Running a powerbook pro intel OS X 10.4.11. I have adobe create suite and have used photoshop and image ready fine for a tear or so. But now my wife wants to use illustrator and it just loads up as could not be launched because of a shared library error:

I can see all the illustrator files etc.
I purchased and downloaded Warcraft III from blizzard and was wondering if I could learn how to solve this problem. After The download is finished, I attempt to open up the installer and I get a message saying "Application launch failure: The application "installer" could not be launched because of a shared library error: "<installerLauncher><CarbonLib><CFMPriv_LaunchServices><>".

Earlier today my screen went blank and appeared to have turned off on its own, even though it still had more than half of its battery charge. I pressed the power button, then had to press it again to restart it. When I tried to access my Word documents, I got this message:

I have explored all of the online advice, I have checked the Console (the error code is -2804), I have run Disk Utility for the disk permissions, I have re-installed my operating system. I still cannot open anything in Microsoft Office (2004), nor can I open AppleWorks. I am on the verge of a mental breakdown because I have 3 major papers due this week. If I can't have access to Word on my computer I won't be able to finish them on time.
Today I went to open a casting call document from my acting agent using MS Word in Office 2004 as I usually do every week and I got the following error message:

I then tried scouring the web as I usually to find a solution. I tried repairing the permissions and rebooting. That did nothing for the problem. I then returned to the web and found that others having this type of problem also had problems opening Adobe Photoshop. I checked my copy and, lo and behold Photoshop gave me the same error message.
Recently I updated my versions of Quick Time and Adobe Reader. I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but other people with this problem have mentioned installing updates as well. Due to the fact that I was given the two above programs as well as Illustrator by my last job before they went belly up I don't not have any of the discs to re-install. That said reinstalling Mac OS X is the last resort.
I can't open Microsoft Office due to this error. All my work is trapped in PowerPoint, Word Documents and Excel Files. And I don't have the disks it was a computer given to me. Recently I ran disk utility and had an error that was reportedly minor but ended up after all other efforts tips fdsk and others failed buying disk warrior. And in target disk mode running Please don't ask how because I am not really very tech savvy. But it rebuilt everything and simply reported

I hit replace and it did and that was all then after I did get an update for Itunes (I don't even use them) and Quick Time on OSX 10.4.11. Was it working before this update? I honestly don't know. Because everything was fine until my computer would turn from the Gray apple screen one day. I used disk utility but it didn't fix the problem. Lastly I have tried installing a combo update and repairing permissions but neither has worked.

MS OFC docs won't open either. TechTool Pro hangs when checking files structures, so won't go further. Same with OnyX.
This iMac keeps running fine, just like the "Little Engine That Could". Suddenly this <CarbonLib> problem developed. I did not move anything out of folders. I tried installing MS OFC 2008 (I have OFC 2004 and it has always worked well) but the MS installer won't open that App.; I get the 'Shared Lib Err' for that also.
I have an iMac that has all of my pics on it. I just got a MacBook air and would like to view my IMac library on the air. How do I do that? How do you share a library.

This worked in the leopard betas' but never has worked since release. I thought Apple was all about the experience, I guess they don't care about Front Row and shared libraries.

Here is my equipment:
1. Imac running iTunes 10.6
2. 1 week old Macbook Air running iTunes 10.6
3. 1 Timecapsule that is 1 day old, bought with the express purpose of putting my extensive iTunes library on it, and was assure I would be able to stream it.
4. An Airport express hooked to my stereo.
The concept was that the Air doesn't really have the capability to hold all my music, but I want to use it as a "remote" to select songs through iTunes and play them on my stereo. I did NOT want to leave my iMac on at all times and do homes haring that way.Therefore, I followed intructions fonund else where and moved my iTunes library from my iMac to the newly installed shared drive on the Time Capsule.I went into iTunes on the Air selected preferences, advanced, and changed the location of the Air's iTunes library to that of the one on the Time Capsule. It sees all the music. I close preferences.
I'm using iTunes 9.1 on a Mac. I've set up my library on an external drive - works fine. I've created a shared library on my wife's profile so she can share my music. My iTunes Shared library appears on her iTunes - but I can't drag/drop my music into her library or onto her iPod. How can I transfer my music and playlists to her?

However, this is what I would like to do. Since I have several AppleTV and several other Macs running. I'd like to keep one Mac on 24/7 and have iTunes open all the time pointed to my NAS iTunes.
My wife and I have both just got iPhones. I have created a user account for her on my intel iMac and want to use the iphones on the one computer.
I need to share the iTunes library (and iphoto eventually) so I dont have to double-up everything.
I have tried dragging the Itunes Music into the shared folder... and creating aliases as described in various places on the web and in magazines, but this simply does not work. No tracks appear in my wife's itunes. There is not even 'shared library' icon on the left hand side.
I've stored my iTunes library on "/Volumes/Storage/Music" from my old mac. How do I open the same library with iTunes on another mac?Â
Do I simply point the media folder to /Volumes/Storage/Music or this is not possible?
Seems that maybe i had this in the wrong forum so i'm posting it over here...
I have all my music stored on a Vista machine. I share that library with my Macbook Pro. When i open itunes on the macbook it recognizes the library on my vista machine and i enter the password and everything is fine for about 90 seconds. Then it just drops the connection and the shared library disappears. Any ideas? anyone else have this problem? It's not a network problem because i can still access the internet and stuff after this happens.
iTunes skips songs when I try to listen to a shared library from my Mac Pro, on my MacBook Pro.
This always happens when trying to "fast-forward" through a song (it'll skip to the next song).
I'm assuming that this is some kind of networking issue, because if I let the song play long enough, for what I perceive as enough time to transfer the song entirely from one computer to the other, it won't skip to the next song when fast-forwarding.
The two computers are in adjacent rooms, connected wirelessly via an AEBS on 802.11N (g compatibility mode).
Got a iMac running OS 10.6, and am wanting to print from a Samsung ML-1710P printer connected via serial port to a XP PC. Everything seems to all be communicating with each other, except I eventually get a print error on the XP machine in the print manager. Can anyone help with this?
Notes:
- the computer and printer can be seen by the mac.
- when a print job is sent, the mac spools and sends it "ok"
- the XP print manager status changes to "printing" then after about 1 min changes to an error.
- the latest driver for that printer is installed on the XP machine.
- I have tried to use the Generic Postscript Printer driver, the Generic PCL Laser Printer driver and an old Mac OS10.3 driver from the Mac end. There are no newer drivers available. I have shared this successfully printer before, but only from another windows machine.
after installing the latest itunes update march 8th 2012 an error started to show that said error saving itunes library cannot be saved error (-54) or something like that.im using OSX Lion

Getting similar message when I tried opening other Microsoft, Photoshop, palm desktop, and AOL applications. (Since the only application that now opens is Final Draft, perhaps this is sign that my focus needs remain in on screenplays?) Tried downloading and reinstalling my current update version: 10.4.11 It said my system doesn't meet the requirements to update (even though it currently exists as this & I have enough disc memory available.)
My iPhoto is constantly loading..and I can't look at my library. I've tryed holding the "alt" and "command" buttons, then clicking iPhoto..then selecting "repair photo library". But it's STILL loading. I can't use it or see any of my pictures. Don't know if it was a corrupt file I downloaded or what..

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a HP Laserjet 1200 and an Epson Photo Stylus R380. Both are linked to MAC G5 (Not dual intel) via a USB Hub. Tech tool Pro is sending a diagnostic message (-63) about "folder count" and I also get an error message of (-50) when I try to load a printer from the printer listing. Everything is hooked up properly.....everything worked prior to disconnecting the entire system for painting. When I hooked it all back up --- no printers! They were there but would not print......I hit reset and poof there were no printers. The printer dialogue said "no printers available." I have since reloaded drivers but still cant print. I succeeded in getting the printers to show up, but when I select print...it goes to print, but then it almost immediately goes to stop printing....in the print list is shows each printer as stopped. Do I need to reset PRAM?

Well I downloaded Windows XP Home about half a year ago and decided I really did not use it all that much. When I downloaded It i cut the memory in half (1/2 OS X and 1/2 Windows XP) So I went back to my Bootcamp installation papers to see how to properly uninstall Windows. So I did and everything seemed fine the only thing I thought was odd is that it only took like 3 seconds to uninstall so i knew it did not actually uninstall. I did not think much of it cause I could now download the update.

The problem is when I tried loading Windows XP Professional SP2, I get a message saying: Fatal error 'ASMS' file missing. Any ideas as to how I can remedy this??? When I launch Imovie, it loads all 20 hours without asking then proceeds to quit unexpectedly if I try to do anything. Is there a way to prevent iphoto from loading all of them without deleting the videos from my iPhoto library? I have about a 30 minute video I would like to edit I'm frustrated.How about removing all those clips except the ones I care about? Can I do that? (after waiting 20-30 minutes for them to load)
