Software :: Hows Does OSX Recover Adobe Documents?

Hows does OSX Recover Adobe Creative Suite documents after a system crash and reboot?
My second question is why can't Windows do this?
I have no intentions of starting a flame war, I am just really curious how OSX manages to do this when windows doesn't seem to have a chance in hell with this type of recovery.

Recently, every time I open Adobe Reader, or click on a PDF document on file to open it, Reader starts opening all PDF documents on file continuously until I get a message saying there are too many open documents to open any more. The only way out appears to be use of force quit. Have I picked up some kind of virus, or is there just a setting that I need to change?

I have been able to open pdfs perfectly well up until I changed the security settings on Adobe Reader. As I read somewhere that Apples have an inbuilt pdf reader I trashed everything Adobe, but still can't open pdfs. Tried using Preview to no avail.Â
Is there some other way of opening pdfs without reinstalling Adobe?

I believe that there is a website that translates things for Windows user into mac terms to help with the transition. Can't remember where that came from.

I've had my iMac for a few years now and have not upgraded the software from the osX 10.4.7 that it came with.
Recently it has decided not to boot, it just stays on the grey screen with the apple logo and spinning symbol.
I booted frrom the install CDs and choose the option of saving past user data but it keeps getting to a point where it says error please try again.
I've tried setting the computer as a target drive and reading the drive through another mac. The hard drive is recognised but I cannot access it.
I have several gb worth of photos I don't want to lose and I also have some work stuff, nothing massive in terms of file sizes.
How can I recover these files?

I have an external drive I used for backing up my mac and was therefore HFS+ formatted. Having had my previous mac stolen I want to recover my files from this hard drive.
For some reason however, the file system seems to have corrupted itself. The drive cannot be read from any mac. I have managed to acces the drive using transmac on a PC but macdrive won't read it.
In the disk management panel of a PC the drive is identified as having a RAW file system.
Any ideas on how to recover my data?

I've had my Macbook for 8 months and it sounds like the hard drive is failing. Recently the MB has been sluggish and yesterday it wouldn't even turn on.
All I could hear was a clicking sound which I assume is the HDD trying (and failing) to get going.
After switching it off and on again I got to the folder and question mark icon. After another restart (and a lot of waiting), OSX finally loaded up.
Now I can't do much work because now and again the HDD starts playing up and the clicking sound begins. What I need though is a back-up of my files.
Is there a way of taking a snapshot or something similar to a CD image that would be quicker than a full system back-up?

So to make a long story short I have a hard drive with 1.5tb of data I DO NOT want to lose, and when plugged in it looks like the attached picture.
A format that my mac can't read, and I would obviously like to recover this data in the cheapest way possible.
I don't know if this is enough info so if you need more I have a great long story how this all happened.

I have a .Mac email-only account using IMAP. I was alerted that my inbox was full (when I was looking at webmail) so I removed all the messages from webmail (assuming they'd remain on my Mac permanently). I get back home and they're all gone.

I just got a new external harddrive and I was copying everything to it, I cancelled the process so I could try something else, then I dragged the folder again and clicked replace. But I did it the wrong way. The first time I did it I went like this
Mac HD --> External
and then I stupidly went like this
External --> Mac HD
Therefore replacing the files with nothing. This is 19gb of footage that I need terribly bad.

My boss accidentally deleted all the messages in his inbox in Apple Mail and since it syncs with the server (mediatemple), they're all gone from the webmail too. Is there anyway to recover these files? I sent a support request to mediatemple to see if they have backups that they can recover too.
We have a tape backup system here at work that backs up his user account. Would there be a specific file to look for that might contain the old messages?

I have a LaCie Big Disc Extreme that has failed. The drive indicator flashes continuously, and the disk utility can not see it. I have tried FW800 and USB to no avail.
Here's the problem: it is a 500 GB drive, but when I opened it, I found that it is actually 2 250 GB drives with an ATA interface. Is anyone familiar enough with these drives to know how they are formatted, and how to recover the data? I am running an early 2009 Mac Pro 8x2.26GHz.

First off let me confess I am pretty useless with this stuff compared to the people here. I have searched the forums and while there seem to be a lot of people with similar problems, I haven't really seen a solution that I fully understand or that would help me with my specific problem.
The Problem:
I'm using a 3 month old 13.3" Macbook with bootcamp installed. Recently I turned it on and OSX wouldn't load. I had not changed anything on the laptop at all. When it tried to load just got the grey/ blue screen and spinning gear thing. I turned it off and booted into windows no problem. Later I did it again but left it running and eventually OSX did load but the problem recurred when I shut down and now the OSX partition doesn't even show up when I start the computer. Nothing happens for a while and then windows starts. No OSX.
What I've tried:
After looking through the forums here I have tried booting into safe mode and single userness, whatever that is, and it's the same- nothing happens and then windows starts.
I've tried booting from the install disk and running disk utility on the mac partition (it shows up in disk utility) but I get the "invalid node structure" error and it says the disk can't be repaired. When I try to verify I get an error saying the disk "could not be unmounted" (I assume that is a euphemism).
Windows works just fine.
What I really want to know is whether I need to reinstall OSX and, if so, whether I can recover some data first. I just got back from a family wedding and have a number of photos that I hadn't backed up (duh) and I really want to try and get them off the disk.
I understand Diskwarrior might work, but I don't mind reinstalling OSX as long as I can back up the drive first. I have an external USB drive, but absolutely no idea what I would have to do to use it as a backup, or how to recover the photos from it if I do. There is mention on these forums of an "archive/install" option which sounds promising...
Sorry for the long post, just wanted to be specific.
