I have a .mkv video file with Russian .ac3 audio but separately I have a .ac3 English file and I couldn't find a free program to put the English AC3 audio file in the .mkv video.
View 8 RepliesI want to convert some video files (specifically swf in this case) to audio files so I can listen on my iPod. I looked everywhere and can't find some free software that does that. There are tons that have trial periods with lots of limitations (like it won't convert anything larger than a 5k size file) so I don't want those because I won't know if the thing works well unless I pay for it. I'm not opposed to paying for a converter IF I know it works awesome on a Mac.

QuickTime (.mov) correctly plays videos with sound, in the other hand Flash, Real-Player (.rm) or Windows Media (.wmv) videos are played with absolutely no audio. I first noticed problems trying to watch videos at CNN, so I tested different web-pages, like You-Tube, and alternative file formats, but no success. Later I tried to open the videos' URLs directly through the players, assuming that Safari was my problem... still no sound. I also frequently listen to iTunes, yet I quit the application before watching other media.

I bought a camera last week and made a video the day after. As soon as I uploaded the video onto my computer I couldn't hear any sound. I could see the video play but without the audio. I tried several things including using headphones and using trial and error. The camera I use is a DCR-SR85.

I had this working fine a few months ago, and then upgraded to a Pioneer elite stereo, now either audio or video work, but not simultaneously, even if I connect video to TV directly and audio to stereo directly, I can't get both to work it's either or. I've set the stereo to accept the optical input, and as I said above, it doesn't even work if I connect the audio to the stereo only while the video goes to the TV.

Since upgrading to os lion, quicktime movies won't play audio with the video anymore. I'll hit play and the audio will sound out for a fraction of a second while the video continues to play. I never had this problem with snow leopard.

I have recently been asked to help set up a "TV studio" for a church. It is basically a project designed to turn the church pulpit into a working TV studio where weekly sermons can be streamed onto the web, or even played on local public access TV channels, for those tech savvy partitioners that can't make it to regular sermons. The budget for equipment is very generous, and the church has expressed a preference for using mac computers for everything from initial sound and video capture, production editing, and streaming to the web and/or local TV stations.
Equipment they already have is the typical stuff you might find in a modern church, eg. 4 mics on and around the pulpit, a fairly new sound board (not sure how many channels, but at least 10 or more), some old mini-dv camcorders, etc. I'm starting from scratch here. This is an equipment and software question, but I'm posting on the software forum because they have already decided on a mac computer. It is just a question of whether an iMac or a Mac Pro tower will be used.
