View 4 Repliesanyone know how to change the trash and finder icons in the dock without using any program like candybar
View 1 Replies View RelatedI place document icons in my finder sidebar, and sometime later they change to folder icons. Does not matter which application they come from, it seems to happen to them all, but they are still linked to the correct documents.

dock messed up, can't right-click dock icons and finder & trash is invisible
hi i'm not sure what happened, but for some reason my dock just messed up. i can't right click anything in the dock and the finder and trash icons are there, but they just disappeared!
I want to change the default finder toolbar icons (back, forward, path and view icons, search, etc), does anyone know the path location for these? I want to make my own icons in photoshop and manually change them, the same way you'd do with the log on screen or icon I know about the customize toolbar option, but that doesn't allow you to change the icons, just to arrange them.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm using CandyBar to change the icons, and the Dashboard icon is changed under both System and Applications. In Finder it looks like the one I want to change it to, but when I move it into the Dock it just looks like the default icon. The same thing happens with the Finder icon. Any ideas? Oh and to change the iCal icon, is there any way to change the way the icon looks when you have iCal running? It just looks weird to have it look one way when it's closed and change back to the default when it's open.
View 6 Replies View Relatedhow you change these icons as the usual method of just copying and pasting the image in does not work. Would also like to not have to download an app to be able to do this if possible.

OS 10.7.4 Trash does not work properly; when I empty the trash the finder asks for my system password then empties the trash immediately.

So I have 3 grayed out icons that are in my trash can that won't delete when I empty my trash. I have an attachment of what it looks like attatched. Does anyone know how I can actually delete these items for good?
View 1 Replies View Relatedi'm new to Mac and im just learning all the features. I bought the 15" mid macbook pro and this laptop is awesome. However, i accidentally deleted the last 2 icons next to the trash icon. I know that you can retrieve icons by going to the application and dragging them to the dock. But the last 2 icons i believe is something different. I forgot the name of the icons as well but i know it has something to do with recent activities or some sort.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI've seen some posts where one or a couple of these problems have arisen but not all simultaneously. The trash is there somewhere because I can delete but only via finder. The dock however cannot be coaxed back into existence and I can't activate any of the desktop icons by clicking on them. I also can't minimise the windows - the red and green buttons work fine but the yellow (although there and blinks when clicked) doesn't have any effect.
View 1 Replies View Relatedthe topic pretty much says it all. i put my mbp to sleep last night and this morning when i opened it to wake it up, i heard the trash sound go off, and i realized my counter strike source icon was missing. i opened the trash and their it was. strange...i don't know if it may have been some of the sites i've visited in the past that may have given me spyware or anything sketchy. anyone had this issue before?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI was just looking through some of my files and things when I noticed these weird looking icons replacing the normal pictures of a hard drive for my two partitions. What do these mean? Are they corrupted or something? They don't look like this on my desktop.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm using Leopard and just reformatted my macbook. Whenever I drop an icon into the finder window the icon get placed wherever I drop it instead of being placed alphabetically. I can go to view>clean up, and it fixes it but I want it to go back to where it always just did it.
Also, the icons do not increase or decrease columns when I make the finder window larger or smaller, it just always stays at 3 columns.
This started happening a few days ago...I thought my Hard drive was dying or something, but disk utility says its fine.
Here is a screenshot of my utilities folder to show what I mean...anyone know whats up?
For the last month, random icons have become blurry. Restarting fixes it temporarily, but it returs. PRAM reset does nothing, cleaning caches via Coctail is a temp fix. Disk utility is useless.

My icons are randomly disappearing! They are missing from Finder windows and the sidebar. On the Dock they are present, except for the Documents and Downloads folders, which are inivisible.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI was dragging some files from one folder to another inside the (Snow Leopard) Finder and accidentally dragged them up into the top bar of the Finder window itself. How do I remove them from this position? I can't drag them off because as soon as I click on them, they open.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI accidentally dragged the icon in the Finder Window for my Macintosh HD hard drive out of the window so it deleted. How can I get that back in Finder, or restore it so it returns?
View 1 Replies View RelatedThe icons just started showing up this way today, any ideas as to why would be great and any fixes w
View 1 Replies View RelatedI cant drag stuff from finder or desktop! I cant copy or paste either! I deleted temp by accident. Can I replace this??
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a hot corner set up to show the desktop.. in Snow Leopard when I exposed the desktop and then clicked on the finder in the dock *just* the finder would show.
Now, with Lion, when I click on the finder it comes into view but all the other open applications come sweeping back in hiding the desktop.
Can I change this back to the way it was before? Or is there another sneaky quick way to show only the desktop and the finder? Set up an entirely different "desktop" in mission control dedicated only to having nothing open in it?
In short: I need a fast way to drag icons from the desktop into folders in the finder. Also, this is driving me nuts.

I upgraded to Lion a few weeks ago and now the FINDER will not open and all of my desk top icons are gone. I've been reading different posts, but everyone says something different. Snow Leopard was working great.

Ok so I am new to mac and I would like to change my icons on my dock but for some reason only one pack I have downloaded so far has worked. All the other sets I've tried (3 or 4) come up with the preview icon when I try to copy them onto the default icons. Does any one know why this is happening and can somebody please tell me how to fix it?

would I be able to reset to my default icons, like how it was when I first bought my macbook? If so, how would I change it back?
Downoaded a pack of icons and been trying to replace certain folder icons with the new ones.
I command click and choose 'getInfo' on the icon file I want, but when I select the icon in the getInfo window, copy is greyed out in the edit menu.
I am the only user on my macbook pro and therefore have administration rights. I've checked the permissions of rellevent files and all are set to read/write.
