Software :: Entourage - How To Delete (Not Sent) Messages
May 14, 2010
I have a MacBookPro (Mac OS X) running Entourage 2008 12.2.4. How do I get rid of messages that won't send? Weeks ago I tried to send a couple of video files attached to an email. They wouldn't send and now every time I use entourage I see.
I try to send & receive my mail on entourage, I am able to receive all of the messages, but I get an error message that says "Entourage cannot connect to the server. Verify that your computer is connected to the network."I know I am connected because I am searching the internet on Safari and Firefox and I am about to receive messages and I can log onto yahoo chat.I am assuming it has something to do with my preferences, but it was working before and I haven't changed any of my preferences. My email provider is yahoo.I was told to switch my SMTP (out-going mail) port from 25 to 567.
My entourage program downloaded all my old, deleted messages, which was over 5,000 approx. 2 months ago!! I just opened entourage and it started doing it again. Why is it doing this and how can I stop it?
I have a dead PC and have since pulled the hard drive (which works fine). Any ideas how to get the old Outlook messages off the drive and import them into Entourage on my Mac?
I keep getting the rainbow swirl whenever I open Entourage. There are two messages sitting in my Outbox. I use a hotmail account to connect thru Entourage on my Macbook.
I have gone to Home/Library/Mail and deleted messages in the Outbox, but am still having the same problem. I've also restarted my computer, but that hasn't worked, either.
I work for a small business that relies a lot on consistent email communication. We are using a GoDaddy email account that we have set up through our Microsoft Entourage programs on all of our Mac computers (all four of us work on Macs).
We have been bombarded by error messages on Entourage. For example just today I have received two error messages: Internal error (-17900) saying "Mail could not be sent" and Sorry, over your relay limit (-17099) saying "Mail could not be sent."
Over the past few weeks we have gotten Error -3259, Error -2171, Error -17895.
It is becoming extremely frustrating!
I have tried researching some of these problems on line but have not found a whole lot of helpful information. I spoke with a rep at GoDaddy to see if it had to do with our email server itself. He said that everything seemed to be set up properly and that it was either a problem with the Microsoft program or with the Internet Service Providers.
why we are receiving so many error messages, and how we can ensure that we wont receive anymore and that our emails will be sent properly.
I searched archives for a similar question, found one or two but no answer that helps me. I exported all my email accounts in Mail, as text files AND as raw message source files. Now I want to use Entourage and import the messages, but Entourage does not recognize these files. Why? They are all grayed out.
I installed Entourage 2008 on my MBP 10.6.2 and updated it to the latest version. Everything worked fine until today. I can't grab and drag individual messages to put them into folders anymore (the move-to tool still works). I also can't grab folders and drag them onto my desktop (for archiving, e.g.) anymore. I believe it worked initially. The only thing I can think of that I did since the first installation of Entourage was create a backup of my system on another partition using SuperDuper and since then Entourage upon startup asked for permission to use an obscure font on that backup partition, which is weird in its own right. After getting that message a few times (and denying access every time) I chose the option for Entourage not asking me again, so I don't know the exact name of the font it was asking. But I'm sure it was one of the WarnockPro incarnations. Is there a way to get Entourage to ask me again for that font? But more importantly, addressing the main issue re. drag and drop of messages and folders: has anybody heard of such behavior and knows of a fix?
I am getting tired of using Microsoft Entourage for my POP3 email and I want to move over to the Mail app. Is there a way in Entourage to export all my mail into a format that Mail can import all of my old/existing emails?
I used to use an old version of Outlook Express on my Powerbook 1400 running OS 9.2. Before I switched to my PB G4 (which a few months ago was replaced by a new MB Pro) in 2003, I archived my Outlook identity as a Stuffit file. The other day I discovered this old archive and thought I'd try to retrieve the message from it. I unstuffed it and the result was an "Entourage Database." Okay, but Entourage will not let me import from it. When I try to use it as the database for Entourage, it needs to be rebuilt, but when it is rebuilt, the file size is reduced from 190 MB to 18 MB and the content is apparently cleaned out. Does anyone know how I can get these old email messages out of this file and into either Entourage or Apple Mail?
I just spent an hour Googling how to do import my Outlook 2007 email messages to Entourage 2008. Everyone kept recommending O2M by Little Machines. And while that seems like a bargain for $10, I wanted a free solution.
recently I have been trying to delete files and I'm getting a variation of messages. Either it tells me that the "file is in use" when its NOT or it will delete the file immediately, bypassing the trash.
I would like the files to go to the trash first like they always use to rather than being deleted immediately.
Also it tells me i can't delete alot of files because they are in use. However, they are not in use or open at all...
Just Archived & Installed about 2 hours ago, and everything looks fine so far. No installation problems (though I was food shopping and by the time I came back things were fine).
However, the first weird quirk I found was that when I attempt to delete one of my inbox messages in Mail, it won't let me delete. I get this error message:
"The message "(e-mail subject name)" could not be moved to the mailbox "Deleted Messages - AOL Mail. The IMAP command "UID COPY" (to Deleted Messages) failed for the mailbox "INBOX" with server error: UID COPY failed Deleted Messages: no such mailbox."
For some reason Mail won't delete my sent messages - deleting them just changes the subject / sender line colour from black to grey but they don't go anywhere.
I was moving my old e-mails to the archive folder in Mail and all of a sudden there is a On My Mac mailbox that appeared and there is a Recovered Messages folder. There is one e-mail in there that has pics in it, but I can't delete that message without it keep reappearing. I have deleted the e-mail from the Recovered Messages folder and it keeps coming back. I have deleted the On My Mac mailbox and it keeps coming back. I even deleted the original e-mail from my inbo. I do not know how to make this folder go away.
After deleting a message the already read message above becomes selected instead of the unread message below. How do I change this? I have changed the sort by field to assending and decending. I looked at my husbands mail and it does not do this. I do not see any preference options to fix it.To recap, I want to start at the top of my new messages and if I want to keep a message I will go to the next unread one and delete that one without the one I want to keep becomeing the targeted message
My MacBook pro has decided to save 64 photos that could not be sent, they are in a folder called recoverable I have tried deleting the folder recoverable I have tried changing preferences and they are still there
I have one large email that keeps multiplying in my recovered messages folder. It shows up over 8000 times and when I get them all deleted, they come right back. I can't find the cache in my computer to remove them. It has taken up all of my hard drive space.
I'm running Snow Leopard, 10.6.8 on MacBook Pro.I have just started having this problem with my Apple Mail program recently. Some messages will delete just fine. Others will give me an error message that reads it couldn't be moved to Trash because, "The Operation could not be completed. File exists." See attached image. I have over 4,000 emails in my program, and would like to clear them out - but cannot because this error keeps popping up. My trash can is empty.
Info: MacBook Pro (17-inch Early 2008), Mac OS X (10.6.8)
I just updated to iCloud/Lion and now I can't permanently delete any of my me.com messages. This only happens in the iCloud mailbox. I can permanently delete messages from all of my other email accounts. I will delete a message in the iCloud mailbox and when I go to my inbox, the message is back. I checked my preferences and I have "Move deleted message to the Trash mailbox" selected and "Store deleted messages on the server" not selected.Â
This is something I find really annoying. I cant stand the clutter of old messages, so junk mail made a permanent fixture urks me even more.
I work on 2 machines and they are having similar isues
1) A Dual 2.3 GHz PowerPC G5
I have one message stuck in my inbox, when I select it and click delete, it just turns grey. and if i drag the message to the trash nothing happens. When I classify it as junk mail it disapears (does not go to the junk mail folder), but when I go back to the inbox its there again. This message contains no data, nothing shows in the preview panel and I cant find a file for it on the hardrive (Home / Library / Mail)
2) New 17" macbook pro laptop
On this machine Im having the same problem as above, but with a couple messages. There is also a bunch of messages in the junk mail folder I cant erase.
Does anyone have any ideas here? I really dont want to backup / wipe / restore Mail on both computers.
And with this happening on both my machines, I cant be the only one having this problem...
When I try to delete my email messages a pop down box shows up on the screen telling me that "The message (whatever one it may be) could not be moved to the mailbox 'Deleted message-mail.comcast.net does not allow messages to be moved to it.Â
Is it possible for me to have deleted the original trash box from the left hand column of the mail page? And that is why these email message cannot be delelted?
I have been given all kinds of sites to go to in hopes of correcting this problem but none of them has been the one that works to correct it for me I have over 45,000 messages that I need to get rid of and I just can't figure out how to get them to move to the trash file or folder and it doesn't work.
I have created months ago a mail folder which automaticly places "spam" messages, and recently when I try to delete the messages from the folder , they become greyedout and cant be deleted.
Every time I try to delete a recovered message in my email, it returns to the recovered mailbox. I've tried moving it to the junk mail and deleted mailboxes on my server as well as aol. Why won't it delete? It's blocking my incoming messages!
I have a folder under my Gmail account marked "All Mail" which currently has over 10,000 messages that I would like to delete. I am using the Apple email program. I am able to delete them only to have them return when I reboot my computer. I am concerned that these ever growing messsages will slow down my computer. I have worked with my internet provider, Apple tech, and gmail and no one seems to have an answer. They do not show up with I access my gmail account through the web.Â
