Software :: Adding Author's Name To .PDF In Preview

Mar 13, 2009

I've been trying to figure out how to add an author to a .PDF created in Preview. I would like to archive some legal documents in electronic format. The regulator in my industry says "the identity of the person who made the electronic copy must be embedded in the document without altering the information contained in the written, printed or any paper record"

OS X Mavericks :: (10.9.2) Adding Signature To A Document In Preview

Jun 3, 2014

I'm trying to add a signature to a document. I've discovered that I can do this in Preview. I've used the FaceTime camera to scan my signature, saved it and I can see it when I click on Tools > Annotate > Signature. I can't add it to my document though. I've read that I need Preview to Show Edit Toolbar but this option is greyed out. The Edit button on the toolbar is also greyed out. I created the document in Word.

OS X Mavericks :: Why Is Preview Adding White Padding Around Images

Aug 26, 2014

I have noticed that when I insert a JPG image into a PDF file using Preview, the application inserts white padding around the image. Meanwhile, when I insert a PDF image, no white padding is added. Why is the same image treated differently based on its file format?

OS X :: Changing Default Author Name In Pages

Jul 23, 2010

For reasons that I will not go into here, I have a first initial and middle name, not a first name and middle initial like most people. It played havoc with the registrar at my college. My Address Book card has my first name as "G" and my middle name as "Ralph". Whenever programs automatically fill in my name, they use my first initial only. For example, Pages puts my author name as "G Kuntz". Is there any way to get my default name to be "G Ralph Kuntz", other than setting my first name to "G Ralph" and my middle name to blank ("")?

Applications :: Why Doesn't OSX Preview Work As Well As Windows' Preview Feature?

May 10, 2009

In Windows XP/Vista, if you are navigating in a folder containing pictures, and you click any picture, it opens up Windows built in preview program. Much like OSX. However, in Windows, you can click "Next/Previous" within that program to quickly flip through those photos. Why do the up & down arrows in OSX not work? I still prefer my iMac to any PC I have owned, but this one little thing bugs me to no end. Is there a setting I can change somewhere to make that work like in Windows?

OS X :: Clicking To Preview A Song In Amazon MP3 Now Opens The Preview In ITunes?

Jul 22, 2010

I'm sure I changed some setting somewhere, but this is a bit annoying. Before buying a song in Amazon MP3, to preview, I click the little play button - it used to play in the browser... now it plays it in iTunes. Anyone know what the issue might be? I'm forced then to remove the link it adds to my iTunes library after every preview.

OS X :: Adding Home Folder To New HDD

I am guessing it would cause problems to just move my home folder to another HDD.

Mac Pro :: Adding Additional USB Port To G4?

Jan 17, 2009

I have a PowerMac G4 Quicksilver model M8667LL/A, Dual 1.0 Ghz, that I'd like to see about adding an additional USB port to the back of the unit. It only comes with two, one is being used for the keyboard-> mouse, the other I have an external hard drive plugged into. I recently bought a cradle for my Fuji digital camera that comes with a USB cord, I'd like to hardmount the cradle and plug it in but don't want to swap with the hard drive every time I use it or run the cable to the spare keyboard port, that looks like hell. Is this a feasible option to do, and if so, how? Mind you I'm not a computer expert so I'd either need a very basic set of instructions or an technician to do it locally, but first I'd like to know if it's even possible.

PowerPC :: Adding RAM From A Different Brand?

Apr 18, 2009

I recently found some ram on ebay for $2.00 (2 512MB PC100 sticks for a buck each) but they are for Dell Poweredge.

My question is even though they are Dell Poweredge Ram ad since the specs for the RAM match that of the iMac G3, can I still use them in the iMac G3?

Here are the specs for the RAM:

Brand: Dell / Viking Components
Dell P/N: 6084D
Capacity: 512MB
512MB ECC PC100Mhz
Speed: PC-100MHz
Type: 168-Pin SDRAM

Mac Pro :: Adding Ram To A 2.8 - Will Performance Increase

Now, I probably won't be needing 10gb for my audio work, so my question is, should I leave the stock ram out for the added benefit of the quad channel ram thingie? Because, according to this report, the 10gb config gives 6.8 throughput vs the 6.5 of the 4x2gb! I thought 4 or 8 slots filled should be faster? What gives??

I don't get how I can see the printer when I add it, but it just won't print.

OS X :: Adding RAM - Computer Did Not Turn On

Jul 29, 2009

I have a 2.4 GHZ intel core duo 24" iMac. I just ordered some upgraded memory from a place called ' memory upgrade.pro'. I've tried the support line to no avail. The specs on what I ordered is this: 4GB memory 2x 2GB MB413G/A PC2-6400 DDR2 800MHz SO-DIMM. However, when I installed it - my computer did not turn on. The data written on the new memory stick itself reads: 2GB 2rX8 PC2-6400s-666-12-FO. I was hoping some a lot smarter than me can tell me if A. I got what I ordered or B. I ordered the wrong thing or C.

MacBook Pro :: Adding Two More Gigs Of RAM

Aug 28, 2009

I have the Alum 2.4 Ghz MBP and I want to max out the amount of ram it holds. It already has 2gigs and I've heard that it can hold a max of 4gigs () And was wondering is it worth upgrading just 2gigs? Will there be a difference is speeds? I also plan on buying SL while I am at it. Yes I am in the upgrade performance mood for my MBP. And unlike a PC you can't really improve the performance to much other than the ram. Also, can I buy some ram on newegg or does it have to be the overpriced Apple ram? Also can I mix ram types? Since it already has 2gigs can I just buy 2 more gigs of a diff brand but same type?

OS X :: Adding WWW And COM Automatically To Link

I am running SL on my Intel MacBook. Since I upgraded to either SL or Safari 4, I have not been able to type a link and have it add www. and .com to the link automatically. For example, typing "google" and having it automatically add the .com to it. I've done some searching, and found out about OpenDNS. I would much rather not use anything like that to get my .com back. Does anyone know of a way to tweak some settings in Safari or SL to get it to do this automatically again?
