QuickTime :: View AVCHD Files In It?
Jun 7, 2012I'm thinking of buying a Canon camcorder which produces AVCHD files. Can I view these straight away with QT 10 or must they be converted first?

Mar 7, 2012I used to be able to view TIFF files from the US patent office using Safari and Quicktime.. but it no longer works.. the QT logo comes up then disappears and the page is blank. OSX 10.7.3.. Safari 5.1.3.. QT 10.1.

May 21, 2010I noticed that finder is not displaying all files when I look at folders with lots of files in "icon view" mode but they do show up in "list view" Same thing happened with the computer at work. I'm using OS X Leopard on both.

Mar 29, 2012Is it possible to change the default behaviour of wiki calendars to be hidden instead of visible. I have a wiki with a calendar with quite may calendars in it. The problem is that it gets very clotted when all event in all of them are shown. You can untick the box next to the calendar to hide it, but the problem is that this does not stay after a refresh or logout when viewing via a webbrowser. If I use the iCal client, a hidden calendar stays hidden (in iCal, not on web)
What I would like to do is change so "hidden" or "unchecked" is the default on the server.Â
On a client using iCal the setting for Checked or Unchecked is stored in :Â
user/Library/Calendars/C9BE5C0A-6EED-48D7-97F8-6DB02EA6A55A.calendar/Info.plist (your numbers will be different ) And the specific command in info.plist is:
<key>Checked</key>
<integer>1</integer>Â
As an alternative to change the default behaviour on the server for all calendars, changing this setting for each of the calendars would be possible if I only could find out how!?

Jul 24, 2010I recently purchased a Panasonic Lumix DMC-Zs7, & I am reading about it's video formats. It shoots AVCHD lite movies and motion jpg movies. I would like to be able to burn these raw movie files unedited to blank DVDs, so my family can view them right away, in the excitement of filming, they are eager to see the results. They do not like to wait for me to do the complex & tedious process of video editing with titles etc, to play. Being able to just burn the raw files for immediate viewing relives me of the burden of complex video editing, of which I do not enjoy very much, & makes family happy, to get the video out of the camera to the DVD player & TV. We have a Philips DVD player that says it can play Divx movies, & an analog tube TV.
So is there a quick painless way that I can get the raw files out of the camera and onto DVD for viewing on a TV. Or is the raw material only viewable on the camera & computer?If the only way to get this material to DVD is by complex video editing, I could be stuck editing literally hours of footage that my family likes to film, they have the film bug, & like to film everything.
Final Cut Pro X :: File Naming Scheme Change When Importing AVCHD Files
Jul 1, 2014After updating to 10.1.2 it seems that FCPX now uses a different file naming scheme on imported AVCHD files. Â
Previously on import, it would use a file naming scheme based on date ie. '2014-06-14 10_49_47 (id).mov' etc. which is great for me as I could see exactly what date & time that clip was created at a glance in the event viewer, also when a camera on a shoot had it's time out by an hour due to an incorrect daylight saving setting, I could use easily go through the clips tweaking the time in the file name & then they would show in the correct order in FCPX.Â
Now 10.1.2 just imports the clips using the useless file naming scheme of 'clip #1.mov' etc ...
Any way to get FCPX to import using the old naming scheme - or am I now boned if I have a camera set incorrectly ...
Software :: Won't Work To View PDF Files / Can't Find Program To View
Jul 29, 2009I have an older MBP (2.2Ghz, 2GB RAM, 120GB HD) and am having problems with PDF files. Well, I guess it would be better described as annoyances with PDF files. I use Adobe Reader and the lag when scrolling is unbearable. Does anyone know of a way to fix this? Can anyone suggest alternate programs that may remedy my problem.

QuickTime :: Will Plugin Allow To View Multiple Pages In A Tiff File
Jul 5, 2012I've subscribed to a web-based service that allows me to view court documents online, but QuickTime won't let me view anything more than the first page of these tiff files. The regular version of QuickTime won't allow me to view multiple pages, even if I do uncheck tiff files in the settings. I'm using Google Chrome, but I can't seem to find a good plugin to view multiple tiff pages. The only way I can view multiple pages on a tiff file from this Internet program is to uninstall QuickTime. But if I do that I can't get iTunes to play. I'd go ahead and pay the $30 to upgrade to QuickTime Pro if I thought that would solve my problem, but I don't know if that will work. Does anyone know if QuickTime Pro will allow users to view multiple pages in a Tiff File?

Nov 10, 2009Most of the time when I download a file or unzip a file, the resulting file gets placed behind an existing one. Like instead of the file being placed in the next open spot, it ends up where another file is, making it seemingly disappear. I then have to look through the entire folder to find it and put it in an empty spot. This occurs when in icon view only, and is VERY annoying! What is happening here and how do I fix it? I'm using 10.6.2 on a June '09 MBP. This has been happening for a while now but I don't remember if this was occurring pre Snow Leopard too.

Mar 14, 2012Upon upgrading to Lion, I can no longer view pdf files unless downloaded and then opened. When attempting to view pdf files in Safari all I get is a black screen. I am able to download most files and then view, but some sites don't have that option.
Another issue that I can't seem to fix and I think first appeared with Snow Leopard is that whenever I open Safari I get a message about my version of Safari doesn't support Community Toolbar although have upgraded my browser whenever a new version is availalbe.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: View All My Files Again?
Apr 21, 2012I was playing with the different display configurations and options in the Finder trying to figure out what suited me best. I right-clicked on "All My Files" and there was an option to add a search bar to the file. I clicked on this to see what happened and all the files were gone and the full search bar was at the top of the page with all the filters (like 3 or 4 lines worth) displayed. I went back to All My Files, right-clicked again and there was an option to Remove Search Bar (or something like that I dont remember exactly). When I clicked on this the search bar was still displayed but without all the lines of filters and I still can not see any of my files.
I right-clicked again on All My Files and there was no longer anything in the menu about the search bar, the right-click menu magically changed from four items to three. I have looked at all the view options and tried to figure out what happened but I am at a loss as to what I did that made All My Files search only (or at least that's what seems to have happened). This obviously doesnt stop me from being able to view the files through other routes (i.e. clicking on Documents in the Favorites sidebar, selecting Computer from the Go tab, clicking on Macintosh HD on the desktop) but is still quite annoying.

May 10, 2008Just bought an MBA today and am having zero luck wirelessly seeing the files, videos, etc. on my iMac for viewing on the MBA. In my iMac, the sharing options are all checked right. But I cannot get access to it other than something called a "drop box". Same the other way around.

Mar 16, 2010I think os x is superior to Windows in almost every way but I do wish I could perform two simple actions the way Windows works.
The first is the ability to 'cut' and then paste files. If I want to move files to a different folder, I've got to open up another finder window and drag and drop.
And secondly (and most annoying) is switching folder views (icons, list etc). On Windows when you change the view of a folder, it automatically becomes the default view for that folder. In os x changing the view changes the global view across all folders, unless you apple-j and tick the 'always open in...' which would be a real hassle to do for every folder!
Is there any way to achieve these actions in os x?
OS X :: Don't Have Permissions To View Files - Corrupted?
Jul 22, 2010I performed an erase and install of Snow Leopard and then used Migration assistant to transfer all my data back to my computer. After that I noticed that on my 2 other internal hard drives, most of my folders had a red minus sign over them and when I clicked the folder it said "The Folder can't be opened because you don't have permissions to see its content". I clicked get info and under sharing and permissions there was a name that said "unknown". was this the newly created account which I had deleted? Afterwards I added my account and applied it to all my files and folders. I can now access all my files and folders. But now my question is weather or not my files became corrupt or was it just a permissions issue? Also What caused the permissions issue in the first place?
