OS X :: Way To Replace Screen On Macbook?

im new to this forum though i?ve been lurking around here without registering. but now it was time for my first question.i have a Macbook 13.3 with 2.4 Ghz intel core 2 duo, the white plastic one which was the last generation of this model before the unibody came i thinki was wondering which screen to buy for when i should replace it! a friend of mine was a bit unlucky on new years eve, and sat on my mac.... so my screen is now busted. when i look up the model a1181 it seems like its the right the one, but the specs i get for that model is 1.83 ghz- 2.0ghz

i have a 2.0 unibody macbook, and i have had it since november.. it had the washed out screen and slanted function keys, so the guy at the genius bar took one look, logged it and im getting a new screen and top case. i love the genius bar and apple support =]

I have a Aluminum Macbook. It is under Apple care. I took it in today because the bluetooth kept loosing connection and then the Mac says no bluetooth hardware found. The Genius at the Apple Store said they need to replace the screen because the Bluetooth module "may" be behind the screen as it is not on the airport card anymore. Can anyone confirm, in the Aluminium Macbook (2008) where is the bluetooth receiver?

Just sent in my 2-month MacBook Air which started squeaking in just a couple of weeks. Luckily still in warranty and they said they'll replace the whole screen clamshell for me for free.Certainly I wouldn't mind much since it's free, but is it absolutely necessary to replace the whole thing just to stop the hinge squeaking?

I have the last Aluminum 15" MBP model to come out right before the unibodies. I bought it the day the uni's came out to save some dough. Got the Applecare and all has been good until recently.Recently I have noticed some "stage lights" showing on my screen. It looks like a string of lights coming from the bottom of my screen and fading away the further up the screen they progress.

I have two problems/questions for this thread.
#1: My superdrive makes an incredible amount of noise lately. I'm not sure why it does that. It doesn't scratch any of the discs or anything, its just annoying. Should I get it fixed?
#2: I have a glassy screen. I hate it sometimes. Is it possible to get the screen replaced with an anti-glare screen?

I have an iBook G4 (14-inch screen, 1.42 Ghz.) and it has a cracked screen. I also have a PowerBook G3 PDQ (14-inch screen, 233Mhz.) with a good screen. Question: Can you swap the screens even if they were made 7ish years apart?

Had my iphone 3gs for around 4 months now, it recently stopped turning on for some reason. I've tried everything but when I woke up this morning to turn on my phone it just didn't start... it looks beat up around the edges, is missing the volume button on the side, and has a crack, HOWEVER it has no water damage. The only reason it's so beat up is because I skateboard and I keep my phone in my pocket and for some reason the plastic doesn't hold up too well... The sensor is 100% white though and its not really my fault it broke they just built it .I think they might replace this is if I go and complain about it not turning on and seeing if they can fix it, if they can't hopefully they will give me a new one.

1440x900 resolution of the new MacBook Air 13.3" screen is simply too high, making everything way too small and straining on my eyes. Is there a replacement LED LCD panel with a lower resolution (1280x800 like the old MBA) that could be retrofitted?

i bought the 2009 refurbed 27"er and returned it 3 times due to yellow screen problem. for the 4th replacement they decided to send me the new model.
i have the 3rd and 4th replacements sitting here side by side.the 3rd replacement, which has a yellow corner is light years better than the new one.
the new screen doesn't have yellow corners...it's a perfectly consistent yellowish brown tone.
the older one has a yellow corner, but is much more illuminated and very balanced white. the max brightness of the new one is only 3/4s of the max of the old one.i tried configuring it to no avail.
are all the new models like this?it's quite a bit snappier, but the screen is worse than the last 3 that had yellow patches? it almost seems like it was a return and it shipped from cali rather than asia?

Let users decide what the launchpad/dashboard/F4 key would act like. Â
The upper right corner notification center button. One click for sidebar, two clicks for full screen notifications center. Â
Right now the old dashboard is pretty much useless with its ancient widgets. And launchpad is rather useless with the new Yosemite Spotlight.

there is a small chip behind the glass of my 27" imac. It's about the size of a small crumb or the eye of a small needle. It's hard to see, but it's definitely there. Today is my last day to get the imac replaced or repaired. I have a feeling if I bring it in that they will see there's no reason to swap out the entire imac, and if there is I would have to wait awhile because it's a custom high end one so they don't have the specsI'm worried if they swap the glass that it's just some 19 year old kid that does it and he won't be careful with the screen and will get dust, finger prints, etc. on the glass making it worse.

I recently replaced the 4GB with 8GB of ram in my 2010 MacBook Pro. However, the system only recognizes 4GB installed. Went back into the computer and now the top memory card is stuck and would not release to come out. What can I do to fix this problem?

I have a Rev. A with broken hinges and since it has a small dent in the righthand side, Apple woun't fix it (I have already had a fierce discussion with Apple regarding this matter, so please no comments about extended warranty ;-)
On eBay it is possible to buy a set of new hinges including the grey piece of plastic that breaks with the hinges. Is it possible to replace the hinges on a Rev. A with these spares?
Would love to keep my Air as second machine beside a iMac 27" or Mac Pro.

I read news that Samsung is already coming out with 256 GB SSD drives. I'm imagining that Apple will start putting those into the Air mid next year, and wonder what are my chances of being able to replace the 128 GB SSD drive (this is assuming I purchase an Air in the next few weeks) myself when the new ones come out? I remember there have been some threads related to swapping drives on this forum in the past, but none dedicated to those new 256 GB SSD drives, as far as I can tell.

I recently broke my Macbook's LCD. For some odd reason I followed guide to opening the top case first before I replaced the LCD. Well I've managed to put everything back together besides two things. I can't get the microphone cable . or the inverter cable, back into the logic board. Do I have to use a special computer glue to get them back attached?

my local Apple store replaced the horrendous chipping keyboard on my original Apple refurbed 1.83 GHz Core Duo Whitebook. It feels a lot better now but I can't help but wonder how long it'll be before this new keyboard starts chipping away too, especially considering the well documented issues with the plastic Macbooks.Just as a point of information, my Whitebook is maxed out at 2GB RAM with the stock 60GB HDD and combo drive. My wife and I use this laptop pretty much daily for HOME use: typically for surfing, email, iWork stuff and Parallels/XP stuff. Outside of that, we don't do anything really CPU intensive on it - although the fans will kick in if I have too many Safari windows open, watching a video or doing something in Parallels. I do have Logic, Garageband '09 and Ableton Live installed and intended to do music on it, but I really never use them on the Macbook because the 13" screen seems a bit too small to effectively do anything with them IMO.

I mentioned to someone that I was thinking of buying the optional 128 or 256SSD on the MBP I intend to buy, and perhaps in a couple of years buying an SSD of greater capacity. (The 512 is beyond my budget at present.)
The person I spoke to didn't think this was a good idea because the 128 and even the 256 would soon fill up with photos, and that I would then want a larger drive.
(Backing up an external drive is of course highly recommended, but it's pretty neat to have all one's photo collection on the computer's own drive.)
Replacing an SSD with another, he said, was a "dickens of a job" as the existing (factory) SSD is built into the mother board.

I'm thinking about replacing my Superdrive with an SSD drive in my early '08 MBP.Â
I ordered a Caddy to hold the SSD drive.  Â
Would I be better off putting the SSD drive in the superdrive slot or the standard HD,  Due to Sata/pata reasons.  i hear my MBP uses a pata connection which would limit speed.Â

If i replace a HDD with an SSD drive will this void the warrantly providing I do not cause any damage as stated below ? page 36 in the user manual suggests that you can upgrade memory and HDD although it states  If you attempt to install a replacement drive or memory and you damage your equipment, such damage is not covered by the limited warranty on your computer [URL]
