I was having problems printing from my Canon LBP6000. Print jobs remained held in the queue. I uninstalled and reinstalled the Mac CAPT Ve r340 driver from Canon's website, no improvement. The printer works fine with my Windows laptop. I found an option to remove all printers from the Print preferences section. I can't remember how I did this, but all printers were removed. I reinstalled the above driver, but now in the 'print & scan' - 'add printer' section, I have no printer options. And no idea how to get printer options.

I have a networked printer in my home network. I also have a (working) PPTP VPN set up to connect to that home network while on the road. When I open the VPN tunnel, I can adress all devices on the network, including the printer. I can ping it as well as open its Web front end (via Safari). The only thing that doesn't work is: I can't print over the tunnel! I've tried turning on "send all traffic over VPN", but that didn't help. Some research on the web seems to indicate that the solution lies in an option "Exclude Local LAN from Tunnel". This, however, is not an option for the built-in PPTP client in Lion.

I spent several hours trying to get this working. I had managed to make it work like a charm last year but I had to format my mac and I lost my printers... so here we go again.
Office setting (I am at University, that's why we all go out with out own public IPs):
- windows XP computer connecting directly to the internet with its own IP address, we shall say 123.456.789.0
A HP laserjet 4100 printer connected to the windows XP computer, called Printer2
- airport extreme connecting directly to the internet with its own IP address, we shall say 098.765.432.1
- macbook connected to airport. Note that this way macbook and windows are not in the same workgroup.
I made the windows xp share the printer and I added some exceptions to the firewall so that it would accept incoming printing jobs from the airport's IP 098.765.432.1. I downloaded the Laserjet drivers on the mac.
And then, I tried every possible configuration to add the printer. IPP, LPD, Socket, SMB...
I tried putting as a queue just Printer2, I tried putting /printers/Printer2.. I even tried things like username:password@123.456.789.0:port... nothing worked. I just cannot manage to print, and I actually cannot even make the mac recognize the printer.
I remember I once found out what the problem was... but that was long ago and I forgot about it..It even kept working as I switched from an old access point to the airport..

Ever since I upgraded to OS X Lion, I have noticed something different in the print dialogue. First the technical info: I am using a 2009 Mac Mini (4 GB RAM, OS 10.7.3) and I have a couple of printers that I use - one is a Brother laser printer (shared from an iMac, running 10.6.8) and a Canon Pixma Pro 9000, connected via USB to a Time Capsule.
When I hit Command-P to bring up the print sheet, I now get icons on the left hand side of some of the printer names in the printer list. One looks like a road sign - diamond shaped with a walking person in it, and the other is a circle with a wavy line (tilde?) in it. The other printer names have no icons next to them. I gather that the circle-and-tilde means "printer not available" (or something similar) - even though the printer is there!!! And then I wonder why the other printer names have no icons, and I have no clue what the "walking person" sign means.

Since downloading OS Lion my ML-1660 laser printer won't print unless I switch it off then switch it back on. It then prints OK. If I want to print another document I have to sw. off and on again. This problem doesn't happen on my Epson RX520 3 in 1 printer.
I've downloaded the latest Samsung driver software but this makes no difference.

I'm new to Mac OS X, but have been working with Linux for almost 9 yrs now. I have set up a Linux box with CUPS 1.3.9. I can print from the server, and from other Linux stations to that remote server. However, I can't print from a client MacBook.
I set up CUPS on the client Mac via http://localhost:631 and created a printer associated with the remote queue / printer on Linux (the URL I use on OS X is http://mylinuxserver:631/printers/hpprinter and the driver is RAW).
I have no problems sending a test page from the CUPS web interface on Mac OS X to the Linux server -- the test page gets printed OK. However, I can't see the printer I just defined from other Mac OS X apps, and neither can I see it from the Add Printer Dialog on System Preferences (it's empty).
I tried creating the printer at the Add Printer dialog, but it would neither let me specify an HTTP URL (as far as I know, I had to use the IP icon on the toolbar) nor specify "RAW". So I tried creating a "dummy" printer in the Add Printer dialog, with a basic config, and then changing it from the CUPS web GUI. This didn't work either, since when I went back to the Add Printer dialog, the printer was gone.

I'm using a MacBook, Mac OS 10.5.8. I've downloaded the driver for HP LaserJet m1319f MFP and the printer worked fine when I connect it directly to my MacBook (using USB connection). The problem is that printer is supposed to be connected to our office network users through a TP-Link Print Server (TL-PS110U). I've tried to use AppleTalk to connect to that print server but my MacBook only recognized that HP printer as a HP Fax machine and I can't print anything.

My Brother 2170W wifi laser printer was working fine under Lion 10.7.3, and then I decided to replace my router with a new Airport Extreme. Same SSID as before, same password, but the printer was suddenly unavailable. After many tries at reinstalling/reconfiguring, finally got the latest drivers reinstalled and the printer added to the printers list via wifi. As long as I don't try to print to it, it shows up as ready and online in the Printer prefs pane. As soon as I try to send something to it, it can't be found. It shows up as "in use, last used" in the pref pane, but in the Queue dialog, it shows as not connected.

Made a custom TCP/IP port on the PC. Assigned my Mac's IP address 192.16.1.101 as the location of the printer. Made sure protocol was set to RAW. Everything should work but the print job never makes it to the Mac. The print que on the PC shows error and the print que on the Mac never shows anything. I decided to delete all the printers on the PC, plug it in directly to the printer via usb and let it install the drivers, print test page etc... After that I reconnected the printer to the mac, pc to the network and just changed the port on the printer properties to reflect the IP address. It still didn't work. I can't seem to find any more information on what to do next. The PC is running Win XP and the Mac is on Leopard. Another thing, how does the PC know which printer to use if the Mac has two attached? I disabled sharing on the other printer thinking the PC might have been confused.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI can't seem to figure out how to add a printer, everything on the printer is setup. I can see the printer in my network (see photo, it's the EXROX-ALLINONE), but when I add it, it won't print anything, just waits and waits. I do know the internal ip for that printer if that helps.
I don't get how I can see the printer when I add it, but it just won't print.

We have a broken networkport on our HP Laserjet P2015dn, and need it to print from 4 macs in the office. 3times osX 10.4.11 and 1time osX 10.6.4 (all except 1 non-intel; running windows XP via Parallels and connected on the general office network). I am currently sharing the printer via USB (broken networkport) connected via a Mac using 10.4.11. I can print from every Mac, obviously. However, I can't print or know how to set this up for use in Windows (parallels).

However, all of a sudden every single application on my three computers "unexpectedly quits" when I go to File>Print or hit command-P. I can't print anything! The only thing I can think of that might have gone wrong is maybe something happened with the 10.4.10 update and the printer drivers?

Is there a change the cartridge that came with in the box with it might just be defective or what?
I have my printer, epsonNX4 shared from my server to the windows boxes, but I'm trying to get it to work on the mac to.
The mac sees it and can print from it, but it prints blank pages. I went and downloaded the print, scan, copy drivers from EPSON's site, but how do I tell it to use those drivers?
It never appeared in the printer list of Add Printer popup.
