OS X V10.7 Lion :: Notebook Doesn't Respond After Upgrading?
Jun 14, 2012
I have a previous gen MacBook Pro (3-4 years old). I think it's 15 inch one. It had Snow Leopard installed until yesterday when I upgraded to Lion. It went smoothly, I downloaded it from the app store and followed it through. Then when I was installing iCloud it told me that I needed to upgrade iPhoto. So I went to the app store and bought the iPhoto and began downloading it. It was late so I just left the notebook plugged in overnight to do the download.Â
So this morning I tried to use this computer and it doesn't seem to respond at all. The screen is black and I can't wake it up. how can I get it back to a working condition?
After upgrading to OS X Lion the machine after som hours do not respond at all to either mouse, spacebar or any other keys on the keyboard. Moving the mouse creates a pattern on the display/screen, but no options appear. The machine appears to going to sleep, but is unable to wake up.The only way to make the machine react, is to use the power button.I have changed the settings so that the machine never goes to sleep, but this has no effect.
Double-click to edit a rule does not respond. It will allow me to create a new rule but I cannot edit it once created. I am using Outlook Mac 2011 Version 14.4.6. My operating system is OS X 10.9.5.Â
My apple keyboard is not recognized by my laptop anymore. I've tried resetting the PRAM and SMC to no avail. The keyboard is almost brand new so I doubt it's broken... how to troubleshoot this?Â
so for the last 10 minutes I noticed my trackpad doesn't respond to a 4 finger touch. And I use Expose a lot so its annoying. It does 2 and 3 finger but not 4. What should I do?
My system stops responding after opening iTunes(not always). This has happened twice with me. I had to shut the system down and re-start it again to make it work.
So a friend spilled some liquids on his new macbook pro 13 5,5.Unibody The keyboard no longer worked, the hd was fried, so he gave it to me and switched to PC's . I replaced the HD, and connected an external keyboard.
Luckily nothing else was effected and it powered up. What I find strange is that the back light still works although NONE of the keys do. The power button and the trackpad still work as well.
I have accepted that I have to purchase a costly top case, but could i not just replace the keys?
So this morning I woke up and went to press the power button of my Macbook, but nothing happened. I noticed that there is no white IR light and the fan doesn't respond. I checked the battery, it was at full. The power cable was also green when i plugged it into the Macbook. However, it still wouldn't turn on.
Just a general comment, I use the Macbook as a printer server and to browse the internet, so nothing intensive is forced onto the Macbook. So then I tried resetting the SMU, didn't work. I tried turning it on with only battery , and then with only power source, both didn't work either.I have never spilled anything on this macbook, never dropped it, smashed it, or abused it in any way. However, it is 2 years old and I never bought Applecare (Usually, if something is defective, it will show within the first 30 days). I assume it's a logic board failure, and it's going to cost around 700 to fix (which i'd rather just get a new macbook).
I was wondering if anybody know of a reason why the logic board broke, or if there is any remedies that i haven't tried yet? Also, I'm thinking of pawning it off on ebay and then save up and wait for the Macbook Pro refresh. Does anyone have an estimate on how much I can get for a broken Macbook (screen is fine, 4gb of ram (i might replace it w/ 2gb instead) 250 gb HD (might replace with 80gb HD instead), 2.0 ghz c2d (prbly useless cuz the logic board is fried)
When I login, I see the following screen. I can't click on any of the 3 users - the track-pad doesn't respond. I have tried with an external mouse, the cursor moves around but wouldn't click, so this is not a trackpad issue. Holding down the SHIFT key doesn't work - the Safe Mode won't start.Â
Happened all of a sudden. I tried to restart, and now I am stuck at the login screen, as i can't type my password.
I suspect it to be some sort of accidentally triggered numlock like function.
When i hold down the fn key and pres 54 a symbol is entered (but i can't see which, as it is in my password box), and also when i hold fn and hit s and g simultaneously, the whole text is highlighted.
Since my upgrade from 10.5 to 10.6, the "Mail 4.5" stop before getting automatically of all my mailboxes. I have to manually request a statement of my different accounts. Is there a way to slow the flow, because I feel that the server does not have time to respond to flow?

Why safari doesn´t work well in Lion Mac OS X as on past versions as Snowleopard. Every time apears mesages talking about something like "the pages not respond" and all my mac seem frezze a lot.Â
Info: MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.4), Safari does not work fine
After updating to snow leopard my quicklook doesn't work anymore. Whenever i select a file and hit space the quicklook ui pops up but it doesn't actually show any content so I'm just stuck with a grey box.
I've been looking on the web the last week but can't find anything.
After upgrading to Maverick on my 2.93 GHz Intel core 2 duo processor with 4 GB memory and a 10.9.4 version for my OS X my canon MG5220 all in one printer scanner shows as MP Navigator EX quits unexpectedly.
I updated my macbook air (mid 2012) to OSX Mavericks 10.9.4 a fortnight ago and now I cannot use my camera because the system shows that it doesn't exist.
I have 10.6.3 Mac OS and I have Microsoft Office 2011.
I am a student so I use Microsoft word a lot and when I use it I use it as Notebook layout.
When I first used it I had no problem at all. But then I don't know what happened but all of sudden the letters I type in would be on top of a line instead of writing between lines like as writing on a notebook.
I opened my previous notebook layout documents and compared it to the new one but couldn't find what was different.
I have a new MacBook Pro at the new job. All software is up-to-date (10.7.3).Â
In all apps, when I click on the PRINT button, nothing happens. I opened the PRINT QUEUE and there's no record of anything being sent to the printer. I've gone and done the RESET THE PRINT SYSTEM process. No change.Â
In a Windows network environment, printing over network. It seems to not have anything to do with the network, though, as I can see the printers and get them set up, and I get no error message. The PRINT button is just...dead.Â
I recently updated to Lion Server 10.7.4 on my MacMini 5,3 (Mid 2011). Now whenever I use Lion Recovery (Ctrl-R at boot), the keyboard does not function. The mouse cursor moves around, but clicking the mouse button has no effect. I am unable to run any of the utilities (recovery, disk utility, etc.) and I am forced to press the power button to turn off the computer.Â

I am unable to send mail. I have a verizon.net account. Incoming mail is fine, just cannot respond or send messages from this account. It gives me this message: "Sender address was rejected by the server".
Connection doctor responded: Outgoing.verizon.net connection to server succeeded. No login necessary.

I've been debating switching to Lion, but I'm not really sure if it's worth it. I have Snow Leopard on my Macbook now and I have a general idea of what the upgrade includes, but I'm not positive. The one major reason I want to switch is to simplify syncing with iCloud.
how do i help Lion along to finish upgrading my mail - I left it run all night and it appears to "think" its upgrading but doesn't look like it is making any progress - I have 110GB of harddrive when i started installing Lion...
