My Harddrive crashed on my iMac and now I'm trying to get things back to order before the crash.
Does anyone know how I can download the app Backup that used to be part of MobileMe?
I have been using the app prior to my HD crash and need to restore my files from my external backup HD.
I was downloading a large 1.3GB file and when I paused it and resumed it again, it stopped working. All I have now is the .part file that is 999MB. Is there anyway that I can resume downloading this file from the 999MB point, so I don't have to download from the start again?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been using my airdisk as a method to share files. I was sharing them using a sharepoint but it required that I keep that mac on.
All seems to be fine using the airdisk (I share it over the LAN) but today I realized none of those files are getting backed up by time machine. My time machine backup is still hooked up directly to my main mac.

I purchased and downloaded Lion, but didn't make a backup copy. OK, I realize I should have copied the file before I installed it, but now what? How do I go about downloading the software without purchasing the same thing again?

Does that mean I don't have a copy of my emails on my hard drive even though I check email using the Mail application on my MacBook Pro? In the sidebar of Mail I notice there's a section called "On My Mac" with a folder called "Local Backup" with a bunch (but not all) of the same folders that are under ".Mac Account". The most recent email in these folders is from 2010. I have no idea how this folder got there or if it's even needed.Am I obsessing over this for nothing? I feel like I should have a backup of my emails after reading that once I've migrated to iCloud, I'm cut off of MobileMe. I need to delete my MobileMe account from my iPhone before migrating to resolve an Address Book historical sync problem. That means the only copy of my emails will be on MobileMe which I won't be able to get to. Unless of course, Mail saves them somewhere on my hard drive.

When I select a folder in the browser view and hit the download button, it tries to make a zip. If the folder is really large, I get an timeone message in the browser pop-up. If it does finish making the zip and I select download, nothing happens.
Is the mobileme site just slammed right now? I'd love to download my files before they go away. BTW, the warning messages for the shutdown went into the spam folder.

After many hours of head-banging, I now realize that Lion cannot be installed on a boot drive that is part of an Apple software mirrored RAID (early Mac Pro hardware, Snow Leopard.)Something about a limitation that a RAID drive cannot be repartitioned to allow for the creation of the Recovery partition.Sad, but so be it.So, I plan to use SuperDouper! to copy my boot drive to a fresh, non-RAID drive, boot from that drive, and then and install Lion there.Once I have done that, will I be able to add the new Lion boot drive to a new Apple Software RAID mirror set? Or is Lion simply not capable of being booted from a software RAID device?

Used Migration Assistant to move everything from iMac 24" running OS 10.6 to new iMac 27" running OS 10.7. Multiple data files didn't get transferred. One was part of entrys in address book. Is there anyway to manually transfer the data over? Where are the data files located?

I have a external HD which has always worked fine under snow leopard. Since upgrading to lion I keep getting the following message The identity of the backup disk has changed since the previous backup.The disk may have been replaced or erased, or someone may be trying to trick your computer into backing up to the wrong disk. And after this the drive disappears from the desktop appearing agian only after restart. What can I do do rectify this? Delete and re-intialise the drive?

my TM wil not back up! It states that this backup is too large for the backup disk. The back up disk requires 573.50 GB but only 225.23 GB are available. The TM needs work space on the backup disk, in addition to the space required to store backups. Upen TM perferences to select a LARGER backup disk or make the backup smaller by excluding file.
Okay I;m sorry but obvioulsy I dont get this. I've never called Apple for help! I have every product they sell practically including Protection Plans I never used and no one will help me with this. My MAC is starting to have black or white screens and i can hear it running but it will not do anything so i have to reboot it, it screws up Enturage and then I have to rebuild that ( 5 times this year) anyway... I would like to back everything up- can I delete everything on the Time Capsule or Time Machine; god I dont even know what it is called Im so MAD... help if you can please. I am NOT some computer hack, just a regular guy who bought a simple product to download and it doesn't work. Total BS and waste of my time.
