Apr 22, 2012I've got really odd behavior in my Mail application running on a MacBook Pro 2.7GHz Intel Core i7 4GB RAM OS X 10.7.3. I have several email accounts. In one of them, "X," some emails don't show up in the account Inbox even though they are present in the overall Inbox marked as "Inbox - X"! Also, when I set up a Smart Mailbox with as criterion that the sender is "Y," the sender of one of these "missing" emails, those emails don't show in the Smart Mailbox. What's going on here? It screws up my email management as I can't be sure my Smart Mailboxes and folders contain all that they're supposed to.

Apr 4, 2012I have 4 email addresses. Messages for one of the addresses comes in via the wrong inbox and I dont know why. I have 4 inboxes displaying in the left hand (mailbox) pane, under inboxes, but only 3 seem to be working properly. I have only 3 accounts displayed in the left hand pane under the inboxes. I do however receive messages, and am able to send, from all four addresses. I need to separate out the accounts and get the fourth account in the mailbox pane, but dont know how. I cant see any obvious settings that appear wrong. 2 of the addresses are gmail, 1 is a @me address and the problem one is an external address. Mail v5.2 (1257)Mac OSX v 10.7.3

May 5, 2012I'm trying to setup mail on Lion Sever (7.3). The only way I can get it to accept incoming mail is to specify the whole FQDN of the server in the address. For example the domain name is example.com and I have a user set up called john. Sending mail to john@server.example.com works.
But sending mail to john@example.com (which is what I want) returns an error:
554 554 5.7.1 <john@example.com>: Relay access denied (state 13).
For internal DNS, I have:
example.com - primary zonemail.expample.com - alias server.example.comserver.example.com - 192.168.1.2 [URL] - alias server.example.com MX record [URL]
I see references here to problems in mail on 7.3 but not this specific problem.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Exchange Email Won't Stop Syncing Inbox On Mac?
Jun 17, 2012I've been using Macs, iPhones, and iPads for many years, but I've never tried to setup my work Exchange account with my Mac until I just purchased a MacBook Air as a second computer (to use partially for work). I was hoping that it would work just like it does on my iPhone and iPad and it appears like it should, but in Mail it just keeps syncing. It looks like most (I'm not sure if it's all) of my email has come in, but sending and receiving is very slow and it seems to be continuously syncing. I'm basing this on the appearance of the circling graphic just to the rght of the Inbox. This is the one that looks like spinning dashes in a circle, not the one that looks like a pie showing completion status of the sync. However, the Mail Activity box in the lower left doesn't show anything.Â
My company uses Microsoft Exchange 2010 and I'm running the latest and updated version of Lion (in fact it's one of the new Airs that just came out this week), so I'd expect this to work. Calendar and Contacts seem to be sycing just fine. Â
Does anybody have any expertise with this? I've already waited several hours and I've tried it for both mine and my wife's account (both Exchagne 2010) with the same result.Â

Mar 20, 2012I must be missing something very obvious, but I can't seem to set Address Book to add all new contact info as "Work" entries. I have to edit every new entry and change all the fields from "other" to "work." This appears to happen when I "grab" phone or email info from an email message.

Apr 18, 2012Gmail is my default email client. I'm trying to send an email blast to my groups in address book. When I right click on a group, and click "send to...", none of the email address show up in the TO field, only the name of the Group appears.Previously, I used mac mail and clicking "send to" group would result in all email addresses going right where they're supposed to go.I don't know how I changed the client to Gmail, but if I can't get it to work, I'd like to switch it back.

I would love to use this same 'from' address in Mail.app, but I cannot work out how this works. Is this possible? I want to stop having my Gmail address being shown when I use Mail.app. Â
Ideally, this would also work in the Mail app in iOS. Â
I know that I cannot use my own domain email in iCloud, so for now I must continue to use Gmail.Â

Apr 4, 2012I have a number of email accounts. Including two name@mac.com accounts. My main @mac.com account has stopped working. i.e. it cannot retrive mail. The other @mac.com account is working just fine. The mail is there - if I look on the iCloud server page. But it will not download. I get the constant password incorrect message. Had this before (haven't we all) usually a quit and restart mail clears it. But this time no. This is also on two machines, my MacBook Pro and my iMac. Both running 10.7.3.I've deleted the password in accounts section - and re-entered it.
I've gone to iCloud and logged in with that password - so its correct.I've gone to Apple ID and confirmed that this is my password. So its correct.Now I'm stuck. It just refuses to download my mail for that account. All other accounts are downloading just fine.Any ideas of what I can do to try and clear this? Or what might be causing this. Started a couple of days ago.

Jul 1, 2012I posted this awhile ago on the address book forum but got no response. I'm still puzzled.Â
For some reason I can't email new groups that I set up in address book. Older groups that were migrated from previous iMac work fine. In address book I hit the plus button for the new group, name the group, and drag the contacts from my contact list that I want in the new group. When I go to MacMail, activate the "To" field and start to type the new group name it appears in the list, but when clicked on it disappears leaving only a comma. When I do this with older groups all the contacts in that group appear.

Apr 3, 2012First time trying to create a group in Address Book and send the members an e-mail. Looks like the group is set up properly in Address Book, but I can't e-mail to the group.When I enter the group name in "To:" in a new e-mail in Mail, the name disappears when I hit Enter or move hte cursor to the right. I have to click in the field to the right just to get the group name to stay in the field.
When I send the message I get this back: "This message couldnt be sent because the following internal error occurred: This message couldnt be sent because you havent specified any recipients." I can manually address the email to the individual group members, but why isn't Mail adding the group members as recipients when I enter the group name?

Mar 24, 2012Upon the strong suggestion by the Apple website that I change my primary email address to match my AppleID, I did. However, there are no options to configure this email account, which exists nowhere in the universe. I tried sending mail to this new email address/AppleID account from my work account, only to have it bounce back as undeliverable. On the appleid.apple.com site, there are no options to reset the AppleID's primary email address. My AppleID is now connected to an email address that doesn't exist, I can't configure, etc. etc.Â

May 16, 2012I recently noted that accented characters are lost in long name description of email alias address when using Mail.app but ok when using webmail in iCloud.com Setup in the prefs of the master mail account in iCloud, the long name description for the corresponding alias.is transcripted as "Frdric" in Mail.app when selecting the sender address in the dropdown list box.However, all is fine when using webmail within iCloud.com The problem appears only with OSX not with iOS.
I have been using my alias with accented char in its long name description for the last 4 years with Leopard, Snow Leopard and Lion until recently. I can replicate on 3 differents Macs. Even tried to create a new user account.

The majority is junk and is clogging my address book with entries that could possibly be spam addresses. First off, is there something I inadvertantly turned on? Is there a way to disable this feature? I have installed one tool called Attachment Tamer (ver3.0.10 from Lokiware) but this does not seem to have anything relevant. Â
