In mail, my attachments, both photos and documents, appear in the body of the message. How can I get my attachments to appear as a separate attachment and not as part of the main message?

I would like to send email attachments as actual attachments rather than embedded in the body of the message. I tried typing "defaults write com.apple.mail DisableInlineAttachmentViewing -tool yes" in Applications/Utilities/Terminal which I thought had worked before, but no luck now.

When I scan a document with Preview, and I want to attach it to an email, it will not let the attachment show just as a PDF file. It always opens the document in the email. Can this be changed?

I continue to see messages in my mail folders that have the header information (From / Subject / Date) from one message in the message listings, and the From / Subject / Date of a DIFFERENT message in the message preview.Â
This is NOT Google. The IMAP server is from InMotion Hosting. On the server, the messages are accurate: the From / Subject / Date information is attached to the message body it represents. It is only in Mail that the information gets scrambled.Â
I have used the Rebuild for this mailbox, which usually corrects the problem. On occasion, I have to delete the mail account from Mail and add it back in again to force an accurate rebuild.Â

I use iMacs for work. I often send email messages with attachments using Mail. Often, when sending email messages to Windows users (they are out there still), they will reply that they cannot open "the second attachment." The message seems to "pick up" a second apparent attachment, which is generally just a few K in size, and is not part of the original message or attachment. Unfortunately, though, it tricks the recipient into thinking that there are two attachments and the second one is meaningful So then they respond and I have to assure them that the second attachment is irrelevant and can be ignored. Â

Why are my attachments not showing up as attachments when recieved. They are sent from Mail as windows "friendly" - but never the less always show up inlaid in the mail. The recipient then have to ctrl clik on the documents, save them on the harddrive before being able to fx print.

Just recently, my email recipients are getting my sent image embedded in the email so they can not download them. This is particular to jpegs and some zipped files. Mac OSX 10.9.3 I am using iMail. How can I send high resolution photos from iphoto11 as attachments, not imbedded and made lower resolution in emails? Each time I try to do this, I choose the "actual size" option in iphoto, but I'm told by repients that the photos come through in lower resolution than I sent them and they were imbedded not attached.
There must be a way to send high reolution, suitable for reporduction, photos. After all Apple is said to be super in graphics. All the tutorials, even my "One to One" guru give instructions for imbedding the photos.

I burn a cd every month of my documents and photos. My Mac has no problem reading the files from the disc, but my PC seems to only "read" the photos. When I try to read the text files (.doc, .rtf, etc.) I get an "access denied" msg.My Mac is Tiger 10.4.11, WORD is 2004, both fully up to date; everything pretty vanilla. I am using the Mail (5.2) app in OS 10.7. I have my Inbox sorted by decending date, i.e. newest mail at the top. When I delete a message, Mail currently selects the message above, i.e. the one that had arrived after the deleted one chronologically. Since I work through my emails from newest to latest (usually), I will already have seen the newer mesage. What I want to see is the next message on the list, i.e. the next one, which arrive before the deleted one. My question there is: How can I advance to the previous message rather than the next one (chronologically) after deleting a message?

I'm using MacOSX and Mac Mail. The cub scouts send a weekly newsletter via Scouttrack. When I view this on the Mac, I cannot see any attachments; it's like they are not there at all. When I view it from Outlook on a PC, it doesn't show the little paper clip, but when I open the email, then I can see that the attachments are there.
Is there any way to get the mail application on the Mac to recognize that there are attachments in the email??

Why I'm no longer able to add attachments in ANY program? It isn't limited to email (hotmail, applemail, gmail - tried them all to no avail) nor outside applications that one can post attachments to (craigslist, blog posts, facebook). I've tried Firefox and Safari, they react the same way. Basically, when I go to add an attachment either the button isn't active or it is and when I click it the screen for the open mail (et al) greys out like it's freezing and that's it. No progress, no option, no explanation. It's killing me!!!
