OS X V10.7 Lion :: Where Are All App Serial Numbers Stored
Apr 3, 2012
I was having difficulty with one or two applications not working correctly so I've just created a new (admin) account on my Mac Pro (10.7.3). The apps in question now work fine in the new user account. Problem is, of course, when I (later) used Migration Assistant to bring in all my old settings, it also brought in whatever the conflict was. So I would like to set things up one step at a time by dragging info from my old account to the new. I've got all my Documents, Application Support and Cache files, but the Applications which require a serial number are still not working.Â
I just purchased a new Retina Display MBP as an upgrade to my old iMac.I have over 200 Applications taking up the bulk of my drive, many of which have serial numbers that I no longer even know of due to loss of original boxes, or what have you. I am trying to avoid copying all of my content over to the new MBP, I would much rather just move what I actually need to and try to keep it a little "cleaner". So my question is, with a Time Machine Backup of my iMac... Can I plug that into the MacBook Pro, launch Time Machine, and simply drag the last backup's Applications over? Will the ones with the serial numbers run?

I recently purchased a new imac to replace my older imac. I transferred all the old programs and such to the new imac, Now whenever I open a program it asks me to reinput the serial key to get the program running. it constantly does this everytime I open a program even though I have already done it?
I recently wiped my hard drive and reinstalled snow leopard from scratch, but not before doing a Time Machine Backup just in case.
I did not restore my whole system from time machine because I do not plan on keeping everything I had.
Anyways, I just hooked time machine up and restored some of my old applications. When opening these applications it is asking me for the serial numbers or registrations.
Where can I find the serial numbers of the defective Seagate 1T hard drives that were in iMacs? I tried Seagate site. Not the iMac serial #, I know about the recall program. We are looking at a refurbished (not Apple) iMac & it has a Seagate 1T HD, naturally, we want to know if it is one of the bad ones.
System Preference is locked and no action possible with it. Time Machine has been restored and System Preference is still locked. I have reinstalled Lion and I need to retrieve only my mails from Time Capsule. Could you tell me where mails are located on Time Machine?
I've been ripping my hair out trying to find the answer to this.
In Numbers for Mac, I need to fill a column automatically with a series of integers (1 - 50) and then the next column with a function that interacts with the first column.
For example:
Column A - 1 - 5
Column B - (value in Column A * 5)
I can't figure out how to do it in Numbers When I try to fill column a with 1 - 50 all it does is fill all 1's and I cant find an option how to make that change so it automatically numbers when I highlight them.
The best I can describe is how in Excel you can type 1 in the first cell, then highlight a bunch of cells and the little box appears that lets you click "Fill Series"
See above title. i get that there's the "degree(cell)" function, but there has to be an easier way to change the settings so you can just input in degrees rather than radians.
like how calculators have a degrees and radians mode, i find it so hard to believe that there isn't one in numbers. if there really isn't, this is an incredibly flawed program.
My MacBook Pro has OSX Lion on it. I have created a DMG image of my starting volume using Disk Utility. The image was saved on an NTFS formatted external USB disk. I used Paragon NTFS for Mac to activate writing on NTFS partitions. The image was created, tested and it mounted fine. It's size is 105GB.Â
I have restarted the system and am accessing Disk Utility from the recovery partition that OSX Lion creates. Disk Utility can see the NTFS disk and I can choose the DMG image as source and the partition on the internal hard disk as a target without problems but when I press the restore button and the Image scan process is going to start I just get an error that says "Unabke to scan Mac-OSX HD. Resource busy". When I try the SCAN BEFORE RESTORE command on Disk Utility on the image I am getting "Unable to scan MAC IMAGE.DMG (Not such file or directory)".Â
I have already erased my startup disk and really need to get this image back in place. It is the only backup I have of my data.Â
I have a custom desktop picture on computer. However I want to edit the actual picture (not change to another picture) & I deleted the original some time ago. Where is the actual picture stored so I can edit it?Â

My FCP 7 keeps on asking me about my serial number. I've thrown that box a long time ago. How can I retrieve the serial number? Also, I don't want to move on to FCP x. Such a horrible interface and system. I want my FCP 7 back. Is there a place where I can download it again. There doesn't seem to be a download software or software available in the market anymore for FCP 7.
I need to connect a Magellan GPS to i Mac with Lion but it has a serial wire so I am using an USB to Serial cable; however it is not recognized by the computer; do I need any type of driver, and if yes how to get it?
I have recently upgraded from OS X 10.6.x to 10.7.x.I did a manual migration of my user data as I found there was not enough granularity in the Migration Assistant, in terms of what does and does not get migrated over. One thing I have not figured out is where the custom Phone number formats are stored for Address Book. I have about 20+ phone number formats set up in preferences on my 10.6.x installation. I would like to bring them directly over to Address Book on the 10.7.x installation.Which file to I copy over?
Does the logic board serial number match the computer serial number?
My reason for asking is that 4 months ago my sisters G5 17" logic board supposedly got replaced with a new or refurbished logic board but it seems by the workmanship of the board something fishy is going on.
From; system notice - online maintenance. i keep getting calls on Skype saying that my system is not secure and i need to go to some website help!!! does Apple call on skype to update my macbook air? should i worry that my system is not secured?Â
I recently upgraded to OS 10.7 and now can't find my Time Capsule under devices to access individual files stored on it. The system is recognizing it under time machine and is doing full backups to it, but only the backup portion is accessible through Finder. How do I get back to where I can pull up the contents of the Time Capsule on an individual basis?
It seems since I upgraded to Lion that I have to rely on opening some Numbers file from the File -> Open Recent menu. Some files do not appear in Spotlight and look like they are not on my machine as I cannot find them in the Finder either.
I have a newly set up MacBook Pro with Lion 10.7.2. I have created a numbers file that is NOT saved on the Desktop. I have an icon of that file on the Desktop and can select it but the file doesn't exist. I have navigated to the folder as su in Terminal and the file doesn't exist. The icon shows on the Desktop though. The numbers document you can see above the selected is the numbers document that I saved after I had seen what I have described above. When I saved it there was no prompt to overwrite the file because it doesn't exist
I am trying to delete files from an external disk where I had my time machine backup. I dragged the files to the trash and tried to delete them. It now says Items to delete: -99,661 Â
What can this mean and how do I now empty my trash?Â
Is there a "Numbers Widget" kind of thing? I would really love to have the power of Numbers as a "fast access" calculator throuhg a widget, so I was sondering if something like that exists or if someone would like to do it becuase I don't know anything about programation.
Info: Widgets, Mac OS X (10.7.3), 8 cores 8 GB RAM
Since the installation of Lion the decimal point isn't working alright. Not in the calculator and not in Numbers.Â
1. For instance when I type 1500 in the Calculator the displays says 1,500. That's not correct, in Europe it should be 1.500
No preferences in the calculator to change it. It worked well with Snowleopard. In system preferences Decimals is changed to ",", thousands is "."Â
2. Numbers. When I type 123456789 in numeric field it's changed in 123.456.789
If I change the last four digits to 2233 and accidently forget to change the points the point stays on the same place. It will say 123.452233 The same if you add a digit 123.456.789 will be 123.456.7892233
i just recently upgraded a 2007 iMac from snow leopard to mountain lion. its never had pages or numbers. How do i get pages and numbers on mountain lion? in the app store it says os x compatibility 10.10
I recently purchased an iMac so I can do image capturing. I had previously been using a PC and moved to the Mac. The software I have been using has a Mac and PC version. When I do my projects, it saves a temporary image file to the User's Temp directory as a jpeg on the PC. I have attempted to contact the software developers to ask them where on the Mac it stores this file and they have not gotten back to me. I am curiously if anyone can point me in the direction of where to find this temporary image file. I realize that Mac's stored images as .png not jpeg but I am getting no response from the company's devolper and I use this file for my projects.
Say I have downloaded and compiled pngcrush and want to make it so that I can access it from terminal simply by typing pngcrush bla bla bla instead of having to specify the path to it? Unlike say wget, I can't "sudo make install" pngcrush.
How can I find the passwords stored in my macbook pro? Is there a list hiding somewhere? eg. I wanted to log into an account I have with a web-based business and my computer remembers the password but it is not visible so I cannot re-enter it on a later page.Â
