Why are the pictures included in "Mail" reduced in size and quality - the old Entourage mail always sent the pic in full size. A 1MB pic is reduced to about 100kB and the printing quality is reduced.

When I was on Snow Leopard I was painting in Photoshop in 16-bit mode on my 21" Wacom Cintiq.It was a fantastic experience to finally have true control in settle changes in hues and shades all over the spectre.
Now that I've updated to Lion, the screen doesn't display true 16-bit graphics anymore, but instead there is pretty noticable banding. A sort of real-time downsampling in bit-depth going on. Even flickering on some grey hues. I'm very sad about this, and it's affecting my work.
I have a hunch Lion is harder on old graphics cards than Snow Leopard was.
Is my machine too old for displaying true 16-bit/ 32-bit graphics with Lion?
In the system info under the graphics card it says: 32-bits color (ARGB8888), but it clearly isn't the case in terms of what is sent to the display.Â

Anyone who knows more about this?Â

I am creating a digital album booklet for a band I manage, basically I took a high res photo and type the lyrics of each song over it, then added additional pics, the booklet is roughly 33 pics. I am using Photoshop and saving each file as a PDF, I then plan on combining them all at once. I know there has to be a better way to get this done. Right now each photo is roughly 3.3mb, that's way too big! How do I get the size down?

This does not happen all the time and does not happen if you right click the message and then click reply. I use Bootcamp occasionally for some software that is not available on a Mac as well as MS Office, but unfortunately, I had the partition set to 150 Gb when I set it up which is way too much. I don't want to reformat etc. to reduce the size so just recently, I decided to use that partition for my iTunes folder plus Gb's of work documents which suits me just fine.Â
I have Time Machine setup to backup my Mac and whereas before I had Bootcamp excluded, I am now trying to have the settings so that all of Bootcamp is excluded EXCEPT for 2 folders - iTunes and Personal. I can't see a way to do this because since I have Bootcamp excluded, the subfolders are non-selectable. I tried one way where instead of selecting all of Bootcamp, I did a CMD-A and selected all with an idea of deselecting folders, but even this way, I am unable to deselect the 2 folders because all folders are greyed out.Â
So the question is - Is it possible to exclude Bootcamp and at the same time to de-exclude the 2 folders? If not, I suppose my option would be to backup (well, actually copy!) the 2 folders to my TM drive.Â

I am desperate for help because whatever I do I cannot get my own certificates to work. When I first set up Lion Server a so-called Intermediate CA and a corresponding SSL server certificate was automatically installed and that works fine. Now, I wanted to create my own Certificate Authority (CA) and a leaf SSL server certificate.[URL]First I created my own CA, and then I created a new certificate with the Server App (ID type "leaf", certificate type "SSL server". (see screenshots below), and I had it signed by my own CA. When I checked the certificate it said "valid".Next, I exported the certificate from the keychain (as .p12) and then I went to Server App's "Import a certificate identity" to drag and drop the certificate onto the window. So far so good.
When I opened the list of certificates (Server App -> Hardware -> SSL -> Edit ) the new certificate showed up once, and after the Server App had tried to install the certificate it simply did not show up any more. I have copied the important parts of the certificate below (private parts have been cropped).The common name and the DNS name are "myserver.domain.private", and yes, DNS is working fine.(I stopped started services and re-booted in between creating and importing the new certificate.)Â

Started archiving all my old photos and creating dvds. started off using iphoto which is great for compiling a quick slideshow to a couple of music tracks. i then imported these to idvd and created my first dvd project which i was pretty pleased with for a first attempt. The only thing i found annoying was that i could not link all the slideshows together in idvd so that they played one after another, instead you had to come back to the menu and start the next one...so i thought i would import these slideshow movies into imovie and create a complete movie with chapters, titles etc. but when i did this i noticed that the quality of the slideshow in imovie was very noticeably worse.
being new to mac i wasnt sure what was up so i thought about importing the photos directly into imovie and working with them there. but once again the quality was really poor compared to the iphoto and idvd slideshows. after this i though maybe its just a preview problem and all will be well when i burn them to dvd and watch them on tv...so i burnt a dvd with one slideshow created in iphoto and imported into idvd and also put on a movie of the same slide show that id imported into imovie and back.
anyway long story short quality still better in slide show created in iphoto.
is there any way to export the movie as high as my project quality everytime i export the quality goes down.

Now all my still clips are blurred badly.  Is there an option to set a High Quality Playback Option. Or can I download 10.1.3, the level where that worked ?Â

When I export my sequence into a Quicktime movie the quality is much worse than it appears in the editor. More specifically, it looks washed out.

But im rly curious whats up with this new - yet another - problem that popped up with airport. Ok, so i managed to fix all the dropout problems, and after working good for a month or so, now suddently since yesterday my speed is reduced. The speedtest wont go beyond 2000kbps, while it used to be 7500+, and while ethernet does give me 7500+. The signal appears to be good, my channel is far away form the other networks... Thats a tottaly strange problem, its getting me insane that i cant figure out whats causing it

I'm a very new owner of an IMAC and to apple so I'm completely in the dark to mac systems and just stumbling around. I'm must be hitting some strange key combination / trackpad gesture (I just got a macbook pro) and my font size in safari keeps randomly increasing. This happens on the desktop with the icons as well.

I know this sounds silly and I'm fairly confident that it's false, but a friend of mine told me Bootcamp partitions your hardware specs. In other words your RAM is reduced to 2GBs rather than 4GB and your video card is split from 512MB to 256MB, etc. I really think he's confusing this with VMware Fusion or possibly Parallels but I wanted to make sure that I wasn't too stupid to think he's right.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a 2.93 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo (24" early 2009) iMac running OS 10.7.3 (Lion) to which I have connected an Apple Cinema Display as an external monitor using a Mini Display-to-DVI adapter. The iMac is set to 1920 x 1200 resolution and the Cinema Display is at 1680 x 1050, and everything looks great until I turn on mirroring. When I do this, the iMac screen loses its nice crisp screen resolution, but the Cinema Display still looks fine. Strangely, the pull down menu for displays in the menu bar still claims that the iMac is at 1920 x 1200 and the Cinema Display is at 1680 x 1050, but I don't think this is the case. Is there any way to keep the iMac at the higher resolution while mirroring?

All jpgs are getting to the recipients greatly reduced in resolution. This has never been a problem for me in the past, and my ISP blames Mail. I am doubtful. Is there a setting on mail that could restrict image size that I've accidentally changed?
