OS X V10.7 Lion :: Mac Using OS X 10.7 Infected With Dns Changer?
Mar 14, 2012
I was recently alerted by my internet company that my computer was infected with a virus called “dns changer.” Upon further inspection I found that one of my DNS servers matched up with a list of known rogue DNS servers. I have downloaded several virus scanning programs, such as macscan and virusbarrier x6 which were recommended to me. They didn’t turn up anything. I’ve been through the OS X 10.7 topics on the mac community as well as other websites (couldn’t find the “plugins.settings” in my Internet Plug-Ins folder and tried to pry it out using terminal). The same bad DNS server has mysteriously appeared on other computers that use the same internet connection out of my home and have not have any untrustworthy downloads.

A few days ago, ClamXav detected infected files when scanning my mail data base. One of wich was a phishing kind of mesage, and the other was defined as a trojan. It turns out that they were mesages from 2009, by the time when i had a G5 Power PC. I've never open theme, nor clicked the links attached. Now i have a new Mac, but those mails are still in the data base; i think they migrated from my imap account. Any way, i red the ClamXav developper's page and he says that its not advisable to trash out or put this kind of files into quarantine. it bothers me that they still remain in my user's library.

"More than half a million Macs are infected with the Flashback Trojan, a malware package designed to steal personal information, according to a Russian antivirus company." on Cnet:
[URL]
I went to the Fsecure link and followed some of the steps on terminal. None of the file names came up so it seems like my computer is clean, but how can I be 100% sure? What's a good virus/malware/trojan scan I can run on my computer to be 100% sure?

I'm looking for a voice changer, price really isn't an issue, but free/cheap would be preferred. I'm looking for a program that COMPLETELY changes the voice, not just add effects like Garage Band does. I did download the demo of Voice Candy, but none of those voices sound human.
So any idea what to get?

My DNS servers changes automatically away from the routers setup and into a server in the affected ranges by DNSChanger virus. I have tried the following:Virus scan by ClamXav - no virusesFlush the DNS Cache as per suggestion in above threadHave run the DNSChanger Removal Tool - no infection indicatedRenew DHCP Lease - changes back to router address, but then changes back to infected range within a minute AUTOMATICALLY I have checked addresses on all routers / airports in my network and they seem stable with addresses outside the infected ranges.
The only thing, that seems to work is to load the open DNS servers as per the above thread, but I am concerned that using them is using a "crowded space" and would prefer the automatic allocation to be working without the computer defaulting back to the infected range. Please refer to screen dumps below First the "clear" range:and then the ranges that the computer changes back to within a minute from Renewing the DHCP Lease:

I recently was asked to download an Adobe Acrobat reader update but before I was made aware that the current virus was contained in a similar request, I downloaded what I assumed to be a legit update.I currently do not use my mail program on my Mac so am unaware of any spam being distributed from the computer.

I was wondering how I would go about reformatting the partition, also would you guys recommend installing windows 7. Secondly, I was wondering if it would be possible to increase the partition size without having to reformat my OS X partition.

Ok, I ran 2 sessions with adobe connect tonight, 2 customers separate sessions, anyhoo, then using firefox I tried to log into myspace and a malware popup popped up something called trustsoldier, I had to force quit ff to get rid of the pop up. So did this come from my customers machines via adobe connect or myspace has been hacked? this malware is not ported for the mac, right?

My internet will be cut off in 48 hours unless I remove this virus. I got an e-mail saying I was infected with this flashback virus. I called Rogers to confirm that it wasn't a phishing e-mail and it is legitimate. The only thing they did was give me numbers to a paid technical support line, I'd prefer not to call and pay. I went online and found a tutorial for removing it using Terminal, which I tried and got the error messages which apparently means I'm not affected. How do I remove this virus before my internet gets cut off? I am operating a MAC OSX 10.5.8 software system on my macbook?

some of my Word documents are infected with a macro virus. I'm not sure how many are infected, although I know it's not all Word docs. I'm running Office 2004 for Mac Student and Teacher Edition. How can I fix this? I'd like to prevent other docs from also becoming infected. I have no anti-virus installed and I'm still running Tiger 10.4.11 (hoping Apple releases Snow Leopard soon so I can finally upgrade).
