OS X V10.7 Lion :: It Keep Asking For Password
Jul 1, 2012
My Mail on the iMac has several email accounts for my wife and I, we have recently deleted my wifes Yahoo account because of spam mail, as well as deleting it through Yahoo, the email account in Mail was removed. Ever since we have been receiving prompts for the password to the deleted account. I have checked through preferences and there is definitely no reference to the account. Is there something else I need to delete?

Is there a way to have a different mail password instead of using the one that you use to login to Lion directly? Currently the two are the same login password = mail password.I'd like to have a different password for the two.Is this possible whether via command line or otherwise?

I re-installed lion on my new mini to get to Setup Assistant to transfer files from my older iMac. The transfer went well, I think. However, I cannot login. I have tried no password (the way the old iMac was set up). I have tried every password that I can think of including my Apple ID password. I did not set up any password for the new computer, but it did offer a hint for a password that it wiil not accept. How in the world did it come up with a password with out my consent? and how can I access my new computer?

In Mail, I know how to go to Mail > Preferences to set up a password. I currently have a password set in this manner. When I open the Mail app, I can receive and send email without having to key in a password. What I want, however, is for Mail to prompt me for a password each time I start up the app. Is there a way to do this? As FYI, I do not want to store my Mail password in Keychain.

Mac Mail keeps asking me for my mail password... this never happened with Windows... and it's really getting annoying..
Does anyone have a fix for this, I've tried resetting... restarting, re-entering the password in preferences. As soon as I re-enter the password at the prompt, no issue, I receive mail... but 30 secs later it asks me again...Â

I have always used PCs where I worked and now that I am retired, I purchased a beautiful 27" iMac (2.7GHz, Quad Core i5, 16GB memory, Lion OS X) and I absolutely love it! I feel like I have been working with only a half computer all my life. Here is my problem: Whenever I am asked for my Password, I have to hit the Enter key without typing anything in for the Password. Is there any wan I can set the password on my iMac?

At my company, we have a MacBookPro8,2, running Lion v10.7.3.. We are trying to set the firmware password on it and don't seem to be able to do so. Booting from the Recovery Partition, we choose the Firmware Password Utility, turn it on and set the password. Upon rebooting and holding down the Alt/Option key on the keyboard, we are not presented with the lock icon, nor are we asked to enter the password we just set. Booting back into the Recovery partition and opening the Firmware Password Utility, we must enable it again and set the password again.

I'm having a hard time with this. My Yahoo! mail keeps asking for my password when I know I type it in correctly. I check the box where it says "Remember my password in keychain". Here is what I have done to solve it:Â
Reset / repair keychain in keychain preferences.Â
Reinstall Mac OS X LionÂ
Reformatted my SSD and put Lion on again.Â
Tried deleting the com.apple.mail.plist in ~/Library/PreferencesÂ
To no avail, it still keeps asking for my password. Keychain must have become corrupted as far as my Yahoo! mail is concerned.Â
Here is the specs on my computer: Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4, 120 GB Intel SSD in Bay 1 (OS HD) and 500 GB WD Scorpio Blue (Data HDD) + 8 GB RAM. I have my account linked up to my 500 GB WD Data HDD and not my SSD. I am sure it has something to do with that, I am just not sure how to fix it. Â

I have been using apple mail for a while now, I have 4 accounts on it (2 gmail accounts, 2 psmail accounts). All of a sudden yesterday both psmail accounts stopped sending and receiving emails, and apple mail started asking for my password. I am able to sign in to both accounts online, AND I am able to send and recieve emails via my ipod touch. So it seems to be a problem just with the mail app.Â

I've made a secure PDF document by using the print method. I select Print from Firefox or whatever and then select the PDF button located in the lower left-hand side of the Print Dialog. Next, I select Save as PDF... from the list and then Security Options. In this window I enter a password that restricts modifying and printing the PDF and save it. If I open the protected PDF in Preview and try to print it I am prompted to enter a password, however, in Adobe Reader things are different. In Reader V10.1.2 for Mac The print menu option is greyed out and I can find no way to enter a password or print the PDF out.Â

I have recently found out that my master password is not what I thought it was! I am currently running OS X 10.7 Lion and would like to reset my master password. There are two user accounts on the Mac - one being mine (administrator) and the other my sons (managed). I know both account passwords but not the master password. How can I reset it?
