Mar 19, 2009.I have files I have received over time on my flatpanel imac. You now guess its really old in computer years. I need to transfer these files onto an external hard drive and from then to my newer computer.The problem is that I want to maintain the details in those files. You know how when you right click a pic or sound file and chose view options/details(I forgot what it is) then you get dated created, date modified, last opened, all this extra information? I really need to save this information specially date created. If I transfer them will the new date created be the date of transferring the files or will it maintain its original date?

May 24, 2012Can I install my OS 10.2.2 disk, which includes OS 9 Classic, to fix Classic and maintain my hand-me-down 10.3.9 (with no disks)? My attempt at installing 9.2.2 disk shows "more than one system found, please choose" (available folders) which show the same message. I've been in cummunicado for a long time (years) and am wondering if the abandonment of 10.3.9 means the loss of use of my beloved pinball and Scrabble (legacy?) games in any new Mac?Â
I need the Classic to use my library of legacy games, but the 10.3.9 as a (somewhat) useful internet so I can put this old goat (the device!, not me)out to pasture to live its final year(s) doing good deeds like running UC Berkeley's BOINC program to search for extraterrestrial life (SETI). No kidding. I'm currently using an HP Pavilion with Window Vista.Â

Dec 20, 2008So I guess when I first set up my Drobo I set it up with a 2TB limit per partition. Now I want to add more drives but maintain one bigger partition and not have to start a new one.Has anyone done this yet and would you be willing to tell me how?
I basically want to reformat my Drobo so I can set my limit to 8 or 16 TB limit.Right now my drobo is showing up as two separate 2TB partitions.

Oct 6, 2010recently, my mouse has been having a lot of trouble holding its "click". By this I mean when I, for example, attempt to drag a file folder to folder or even drag a window around, it loses the "hold" and usually ends up dropping the file and clicking something else. Oftentimes if i right click hold it will lose the hold and select something else in the menu.Does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem might be? I'm not certain that it is a hardware problem either, if maybe it is something to do with my iMac itself?

I want to relocate these masters into a directory structure that exactly matches the project structure. Best I can tell, the basic "relocate masters" functionality can only dump images into a single directory. Any way to mirror the project structure on the filesystem?Â

Dec 1, 2009Ever since owning the uMBP, I have kept the battery charged and monthly calibrate it to maintain a 100% battery health. But through this, the laptop limits its portability and it is sometimes extremely tedious to find a plug in order to use it. My question is: Is it really worth it to keep a good battery that will last overtime, or would you prefer simply purchasing a new battery when your old one dies? Also, how big of a difference does a healthy battery compare to a battery put through regular use?

Mar 21, 2012I have my 15" MacBook Pro, Mid-2010 model, which had Snow Leapord and then from the AppStore I had upgraded the OS to Lion.Now I'd like to have a clean installation of Lion. I have few constraints and have already tried few options but without luck. From the AppStore I downloaded the OS Lion (from Purchases) and I saw a note about create a bootable DVD and have created one. I tried the following...Â
Problem #1 : My MBP wouldn't boot off the DVD. It just keeps spinning.
Problem #2 : I then tried restarting and then choosing "Options" while coming up to choose the Disk. Again it just spins.
Problem #3 : I chose "Command R" for recovery mode but it again tries to download OS Lion afresh and that's not an option for me right now (I'm not in USA now, but in India. No high bandwidth connection)Â How can I do a fresh installation of Lion?Â

Mar 25, 2012On the App Store I saw an item CleanMyDesktop but folks complained it didn't get all file types. So I thought I'd try it with my modest Automator abilities: FIND, FILTER, MOVE TO FOLDER...BUT...but it only works if there are files of that type on the desktop, so if there happens to be no pics, the application stops right there, or if there are no docs, it stops there, etc.But if I put an item of each file type on the Desktop, sure enough it runs all the way to the conclusion. So how can I fix this? Tell it to move on even if there are no items of that type of MOVE. 'Cause right now it ain't good. I tried this to clean my Desktop and now I'm tossing junk all over the Desktop so the app can finish.

Jun 11, 2012I was moving around some files from an old to a new macbook pro and I ended up deleting some files so now whenever I try to put a file on the desktop it says that I don't have permission to do that operation. I just got this macbook and cant access my old one at the moment, so the question is: how do I totally wipe the hdd and install osx lion again?
Is it possible to open my macbook in target mode and delete everything then when I start it up, open it in recovery/rescue mode and install lion again from the servers, or do I need to wait and get my macbook again? I just want to use it like a brand new machine (no personal data on it). I already tried reinstalling lion, but that did nothing.
