My contacts book is in need of a good cleanup. I would like to archive the current content and then delete the old records in a renamed or duplicate Contacts list. How can I do this?Â
Several questions I guess:
1) How do I archive (if this is possible)?
2) How do I copy the Contacts book and give a new name?
3) How do I select several records and delete in one go (avoiding individual deletions one at a time)Â
4) Is there a built in feature hidden away somewhere to help with this or an app?Â
It seems that the contacts app has suddenly become incapable of accessing my contacts in the cloud. Its fine on icloud.com, its fine on my phone, and its fine on my ipads. However, I'm getting an error message right now which I think must be to do with an update to Little Snitch which I did almost immediately before, and which necessitated a reboot. Since the reboot, I am seeing the following
Of course, this also means Messages doesnt work. LS is not blocking any icloud things, and calendars and mail are still working with no issues.Â
I'm not exactly sure of where to post this... I'm having a problem with my computer (Address Book, I believe) syncing w/ Google contacts. I'm getting the following error messages:
The first image is the original error that comes up. If I click More Info, it brings me to a list of contacts. The "Before" info contains the correct fields for their email addresses (e.g., school, work, etc). However, Google wants to get rid of these fields.
Is there any way I can get Google to accept this fields? Also, can I have Google revert to my Mac's info instead of the other way around (my mac using Google's changes)

I would like to do a clean reinstall of Mac OS X Lion, that is format the hard drive and then do a clean reinstall. I don't want to use Recovery HD, I really want to wipe out the HD and then install Lion.
I keep getting pop ups saying I need to clean my mackbook from junk, I always securely empty my trash bin, & cant currently buy the software to scan and clean my macbook pro at the moment. Is there a manual way I can do this? If so how? I don't really have much on my computer. I only have about 18 gb of music, about 200 photos, and a few documents, So I dont understand what I actually have to clean?
It shipped wth Lion. I want to basically re-image it now and start again but was wondering if there is any way around having to download the 4GB install package?
I have an issue with contacts on my devices. My iPhone 4s, and my MacBook Pro. I am running Lion and the latest version of everything and yadayadayada. But I want the Address Book on my Mac to be identical to the one on my iPhone so I have numbers and emails all stored of my friends and family on my Mac as well as iPhone. However, when I go to iTunes and click sync contacts and all that, it does something with Google and crap to match them and it's just a total mess. On my iPhone I have groups of contacts that are "From My Mac" which contains about 2/3 of all my contacts. Like some synced and others didn't. Then there is an "iCloud" group. Which contains very very few contacts and doesn't do crap for me. Then there is an "All Contacts" group that actually has everything. I thought iCloud was going to sync ALL my contacts to ALL my devices? I don't know what to do right now at all. I think my Mac is syncing with Google and not my iPhone because the only contacts it's syncing are the ones from my old droid on that email, which is also my Apple ID. So should I take my Mac off syncing with gmail contacts and then I can remove all the gmail contacts off of gmail for good or whatever and then I can get my iPhone contacts on?

I have recently run through a clean install of my MBP and installed Lion. I have just noticed that the Contacts program is missing from the machine. At what part of the process is this normally installed and how can I obtain it?
I recently archived my icloud contacts to my MacBook Pro. In my contacts it shows a "smart group" with the contacts that I recently archived. I've been trying to delete it and I have no such luck.

I have my 15" MacBook Pro, Mid-2010 model, which had Snow Leapord and then from the AppStore I had upgraded the OS to Lion. Now I'd like to have a clean installation of Lion. I have few constraints and have already tried few options but without luck. From the AppStore I downloaded the OS Lion (from Purchases) and I saw a note about create a bootable DVD and have created one. I tried the following...Â
Problem #1 : My MBP wouldn't boot off the DVD. It just keeps spinning.
Problem #2 : I then tried restarting and then choosing "Options" while coming up to choose the Disk. Again it just spins.
Problem #3 : I chose "Command R" for recovery mode but it again tries to download OS Lion afresh and that's not an option for me right now (I'm not in USA now, but in India. No high bandwidth connection)Â How can I do a fresh installation of Lion?Â
On the App Store I saw an item CleanMyDesktop but folks complained it didn't get all file types. So I thought I'd try it with my modest Automator abilities: FIND, FILTER, MOVE TO FOLDER...BUT...but it only works if there are files of that type on the desktop, so if there happens to be no pics, the application stops right there, or if there are no docs, it stops there, etc.But if I put an item of each file type on the Desktop, sure enough it runs all the way to the conclusion. So how can I fix this? Tell it to move on even if there are no items of that type of MOVE. 'Cause right now it ain't good. I tried this to clean my Desktop and now I'm tossing junk all over the Desktop so the app can finish.

I was moving around some files from an old to a new macbook pro and I ended up deleting some files so now whenever I try to put a file on the desktop it says that I don't have permission to do that operation. I just got this macbook and cant access my old one at the moment, so the question is: how do I totally wipe the hdd and install osx lion again?
Is it possible to open my macbook in target mode and delete everything then when I start it up, open it in recovery/rescue mode and install lion again from the servers, or do I need to wait and get my macbook again? I just want to use it like a brand new machine (no personal data on it). I already tried reinstalling lion, but that did nothing.

I accidentley imported 135,000 contacts and emails and now the adress book hangs really bad i would like to delete them all then start over I do not need to save them ether. just need them all gone.i have tried copying all of them in adress book and deleteing but it just hangs and spins forever and crashes.
I have about 50,000 contacts from Apple (all from the same person) in my address book. I have no idea how they got in the address book; I certainly didn't add these contacts. Address Book freezes up every time I attempt to delete the apple contacts. How can I delete these contacts
I am a relatively new (reintroduced user to Apple), since my Apple IIe back in the early 90's. I love my desktop mac thus far and I utilize my Apple Mail for the majority of my work day. We use the address book to store all our business contacts and someone asked how to share an address book contact via email within an already drafted email. I could not figure out how to do this without going into the address book, clicking 'share', then copying the contact card in the new email draft it opened and pasting it into the already composed message. Is there a more streamlined way to do this?
