I have Mac OS X Lion installed on my late 2010 Macbook. how to burn a CD/DVD with personal documents with multisession: usually I don't use multisession and I can't burns documents a second time on the same CD/DVD... How is it possible to burn a multisession with Disk Utility?And, with Toast Titanium 11?

I just got new imac version 10.7.3 LION...2.5GHz intel corei5, 4GB 1333 MHz DDR3 Desktop. It has no iDVD. I cannot use my old applic. install Disc that had iDVD ( iLife08) because when inserted, it says I can't open it because Power PC apps are no longer supported. NOW, an Apple Care tech. did not tell me that when Ijust talked to him. There is no way to get iDVD then for my new computer. Â
MY PROBLEM: I want to burn a dvd that will play in a DVD player. I created it from my dig. camera using iMovie. I tried to burn it to a DVD/RW but when inserted into two different DVD players, nothing. I then read I needed a DVD-R, and got that, but read that will not work on this computer either. I read of something called BURN which is some free software that does simple dvd's, but am afraid to download that and end up running in circles. I sure do not want to purchase some software for a rare occasion when I want to burn a DVD for a friend to play in his tv/dvd player. Â

It is supposed to be the best burning package on mac. But I doubt it. I convert videos to dvd-video format using the absolutely brilliant windows7 application convertxtodvd. Please dont tell me to use a mac application instead of it. I tried it many times, there were always several problems(slow speed, subs etc). This is not the case here.
So, I want these dvd-videos in Video_ts format, to be burned in dvd disks using toast. It is supposed that video_ts folder are a standard folder, no matter the system you use. But toast has a different opinion. When I drag the folder in the dvd-video window, it asks to re-encode the video!!!If I try to burn this video_ts folder in windows machine using 'nero', no problem at all, straight burning! I really cannot understand why this happens.
Another problem I have is that the files I want toast to burn, usually reside to network computer. Is there any way to burn files from a network computer(win) using toast? Can toast access network or not? If not, I have to manually copy files to local disk, several minutes spent for copying gigabytes just to be able to burn them.
I would like to burn more than one file in to the same dvd. It seems to me that using Finder I can burn only a file. There is some alternative command?

I'm looking for a simple software to burn blu-ray data. I already have the external drive. And no, I'm not looking into burning a blu-ray movie. This is just for data, aka a UDF disc. I know Toast, but I'm not too keen of spending that much money just to get a seemingly simple task.

I've been trying to burn on to dual layer disk i.e 8.5 GB.Video_TS foldeer is 7 GBIf I chose the DATA TAB tell Burn to create a "DVD-video disk" I get a disk that my computer can play in the DVD App that functions like a DVD, BUT my stand alone DVD player won't recognise it. (tells me its a DATA disk).

He upgraded his OS by buying it on the App store. Now he has a weird screen at start up We would like to run Apple Hardware Test on the install DVD but as mentioned he bought it from the App store.The only file we get is an installer (4.2 GB) but it is not a start up disk.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am having difficulties burning 88.x MB DMG files to CDs (new CD-Rs and an old CD-RW) onto two different external USB2 disc burner drives (both have power AC connected: HP and LG Super brands). The new Mac Mini (no disc slot drive)'s updated 64-bit Mac OS X 10.7.4's Disk Utilities tries to burn and then fail right away or after a few seconds. The error says "Unable to burn 'whatever.dmg' (The disc drive did not respond properly and can't recover or retry." Nothing interesting in dmesg, but Disk Utility's logs had details: url...I do see my drives' lights on during the burn. I can quick erase the old CD-RW fine. I can burn 538 MB from an 64-bit Windows 8 on my Acer AM3800 PC with the same discs and external burner drives without any problems. Also, I thought it was my USB cable extension, but it wasn't it. I don't use any USB hubs either. DMG files are fine too. I did notice copying from a CD to Mac Mini's local HDD was slow, but no failures.

Next I downloaded a freeware program called Burn that looks simple and is all I need. However I when I try to burn I get an error "Failed: There was a problem authoring the DVD" Also I tried to use the burn to a data DVD mode and it wrote the data to the DVD (you can physically see it's there) but when it got to finalize I got the same error message and you can't read the DVD contents. I have a new Mac Pro running 10.5.3 and the DVD drive is OEM PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-112D.

View 9 Replies View RelatedToday I began making a backup of half my dvd collection (since the other half was stolen) and I used mac the ripper to rip the files to my harddrives, but now I am stuck on how to burn it back to dvd. I was told handbrake does the job but I see no option on here to burn it back to a regular dvd. Another post I read said use Roxio but I wanted to get some clarification before I drop $80 on roxio. To clarify these are DVDs I purchased and I used to make backup copies in case of scratches etc and I stopped (regrettably) until the other night when half of my movies (about 200) went missing. Now I will be backing up the other half and sending them to my house in case this ever happens again.

I tried twice using Apple Finder burn, and the 3rd time using Toast. All failed. I then tried burning a DVD using Toast burning different files without problem.  Could there be a problem with the files that is not allowing them to be burned to a CD?Â

Before I say anything, I am not attempting to violate any copyright laws. The creators actually encourage duplicating this dvd (religious material so-to-speak). I created an image file using Disk Utility in Mac, and the image file is 6.4 GB. Can this be burned to a regular DVD (4.7GB) through compression or something like that? Or is this without a doubt a dual layer DVD? I had a couple of people interested in the DVD, and it makes me hesitant if I have to go buy dual layer DVD's. Also, is there a special way to burn dual layer DVD's? I've never used them before.
