I've tried to burn some files on to CD that I want to backup and remove from my hard drive, but I've tried 3 times and each failed on verification. I tried twice using Apple Finder burn, and the 3rd time using Toast. All failed. I then tried burning a DVD using Toast burning different files without problem. Could there be a problem with the files that is not allowing them to be burned to a CD?

It is supposed to be the best burning package on mac. But I doubt it. I convert videos to dvd-video format using the absolutely brilliant windows7 application convertxtodvd. Please dont tell me to use a mac application instead of it. I tried it many times, there were always several problems(slow speed, subs etc). This is not the case here.
So, I want these dvd-videos in Video_ts format, to be burned in dvd disks using toast. It is supposed that video_ts folder are a standard folder, no matter the system you use. But toast has a different opinion. When I drag the folder in the dvd-video window, it asks to re-encode the video!!!If I try to burn this video_ts folder in windows machine using 'nero', no problem at all, straight burning! I really cannot understand why this happens.
Another problem I have is that the files I want toast to burn, usually reside to network computer. Is there any way to burn files from a network computer(win) using toast? Can toast access network or not? If not, I have to manually copy files to local disk, several minutes spent for copying gigabytes just to be able to burn them.
My new DVD burner will play CDs and DVDs and burn CDs, but will not burn DVDs through the finder. Will getting TOAST definitely enable me to burn DVDs? I don't really need it otherwise and I would rather not buy it unless it will definitely enable me to burn DVDs.
I am trying to back up some DVD is I OWN.I used MTR to get the Video_TS folder on my HD.I have been trying to get Burn to create a disk that will work on my stand alone DVD player (which supposedly supports DVD -/+R and RW well as DivX).WHICH TYPE OF DISK DO I TELL BURN TO CREATE? I've been trying to burn on to dual layer disk i.e 8.5 GB.Video_TS foldeer is 7 GBIf I chose the DATA TAB tell Burn to create a "DVD-video disk" I get a disk that my computer can play in the DVD App that functions like a DVD, BUT my stand alone DVD player won't recognise it. (tells me its a DATA disk).
Have a free to distribute educational DVD (preparation for a test) that I need to make a copy of for a friend. Downloaded MacTheRipper and copy the DVD. Next I downloaded a freeware program called Burn that looks simple and is all I need. However I when I try to burn I get an error "Failed: There was a problem authoring the DVD" Also I tried to use the burn to a data DVD mode and it wrote the data to the DVD (you can physically see it's there) but when it got to finalize I got the same error message and you can't read the DVD contents. I have a new Mac Pro running 10.5.3 and the DVD drive is OEM PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-112D.
New to iMac, just trying to do something I could do on the PC without any trouble. Can't seem to get the burn folder to burn to a new CD-R. Can't seem to get the iMac to recogmize that there is a CD in the drive.
Have tried more than one CD. It does eject, but stalled out on the transfer.
I miss my PC. this has taken an hour for something that should be--well--easy.
I've researched this for a few hours today. he instructions I find are not working. A friend gave me a workout video and i want to make a copy. How do you do this?
Today I began making a backup of half my dvd collection (since the other half was stolen) and I used mac the ripper to rip the files to my harddrives, but now I am stuck on how to burn it back to dvd. I was told handbrake does the job but I see no option on here to burn it back to a regular dvd. Another post I read said use Roxio but I wanted to get some clarification before I drop $80 on roxio. To clarify these are DVDs I purchased and I used to make backup copies in case of scratches etc and I stopped (regrettably) until the other night when half of my movies (about 200) went missing. Now I will be backing up the other half and sending them to my house in case this ever happens again.
I have 8.1 GB that i have to burn to a DL-DVD. I know that it says 8.5 GB on a DL-DVD, but sometimes it is less than the advertised amount. Can i fit 8.1 GB onto a DL-DVD ?
Before I say anything, I am not attempting to violate any copyright laws. The creators actually encourage duplicating this dvd (religious material so-to-speak). I created an image file using Disk Utility in Mac, and the image file is 6.4 GB. Can this be burned to a regular DVD (4.7GB) through compression or something like that? Or is this without a doubt a dual layer DVD? I had a couple of people interested in the DVD, and it makes me hesitant if I have to go buy dual layer DVD's. Also, is there a special way to burn dual layer DVD's? I've never used them before.
I have a full season of a TV show, and they are all .avi's.
I have two different kinds of memorex blank DVD's: DVD-RW and DVD+R DL
I would like to play the show on my Sony blu-ray player BDP-S350.
I've heard of using Burn, iDVD, Toast (does this cost money?), and more. What do you think would be the best way? I just want to make sure I know what I'm doing before I mess anything up.
Burning at the slowest speeds possible has always been my goal - I simply get better compatibility when it comes to audio CDs. However, I do not know how to slow down the burn speed on my iMac. I am using Toast 10, and I can select 1x speed, but the CDs still burn at 8x. How can I change this?
I have to burn a movie for a project, the .MOV file is 696MB, and the AVI file is 701MB.
I drop the files into iDVD, and it turns into 6GBs for some reason! Why is that? Is there any way at all to burn these to a DVD that I can watch on a regular DVD player?
I'm new to using the Mac. I currently have the Macbook Pro as well as the 24" iMac. I have been trying and trying to burn some CDs and well as DVDs but have no idea how to do it. Could someone lead me to a link or give me directions on how to do it please? I usually use Nero on my PC, but would hate to go back n forth for this operation. Also, I rip alot of my DVDs as a back up as well as to watch them on my HD player. Normally I would use DVD Shrink on my PC. Am I able to do the same on Mac or do I need an additional software?
I want to burn my audio CD-Rs at 1x speed for the best results. I've just bought the LGBE06LU10 burner (because the iMac 24s cannot burn any slower than 8x speed) and updated the firmware to YE05. However, I can't force it to burn any slower than 4x. Is there any way of doing this?
i have a ibook g4 with no dvd burner and as u know the .dmg file is 6.3 gb and my ibook only has a cd reader so i have a ipod but its usb and that does not work on a ppc based mac. so i need to burn 10.5 .dmg to a cd and it needs to work on multiple cds.
I have got a .iso file (Window's vista) and do I just drag and drop the .iso file or do I open it and drop the contents of the file into the unwritten CD?
I'm fairly new to mac, and needed to know how to do something with my particular arrangement.
My configuration is i have a new Imac, and I have alot of movies in avi. format that I want to burn on a DVD and be able to play on my PS3 as that is all I use to watch movies. And I doubt that I can just burn that avi to a DVD and boom it works. So I need to know what I need to convert them to, and what is the best program to convert them (doesn't have to be free software either, just the best because it will be watched on a 61" tv, so I need quality to be awesome cause otherwise it will stretch and distort). And how to burn them with what program for them to work on my PS3.
I want to burn the Windows 7 RC so I can use it on my Windows XP computer. I can see the file on the disc when I am on my Mac. The disc wont load on the Windows PC. I'm assuming there is a compatibility issue.
I was trying to save some files onto a blank DVD and it got so far and then failed each time. I cant remember the exact message but it was something about loosing connection to the DVD?
I found that Macbook Pro cannot burn 95% from the DVD R DL 8.5 GB wth different types in the market. I have read from many sites and forums the same problems. In spite of the about this mac information on disk burning said it is able to write DVD R Double Layer (8.5GByte). Finally It is a big problem that Macbook pro cannot burn DVD Double Layer (8.5GByte) @ macbook pro 2.5 GHZ , 2 GB Ram , 250 GB HD
I'll be on a road trip soon enough and my car has a ghetto CD player. I have a bunch of podcasts (such as This American Life) that I want to burn to CDs to listen to on the road. How do I do that? Can it be done through Itunes? (I normally run a Mac, but also have a PC if that is the solution).
My friend ripped a CD via EAC into FLAC files, so that I could then burn a CD-R copy. I've done this multiple times without issue. However, with this current rip, the total file size is 708MB and does not fit on a regular CD-R disc. I'm a bit confused because all the files were ripped from a single Red Book CD. Is there anything I can do to reduce the total file size so that it fits on a CD-R disc (without removing one of the files)?
A friend ripped a few CDs for me, but some of them don't fit on a standard 700MB CD-R disc. The additional data is usually negligible in size... say, 715MB total.
Is there anyway to burn these CDs on a single CD-R disc using Toast Titanium? I can't figure it out and I'm starting to get a headache..
Along with many others I get the ox8002006D message when I try to burn a CD G5, OS 10.4.11 Toast Lite (v6) also goes through a list of error messages Many forums say 'buy an external burner' but Mac ought to be OK?
