OS X V10.7 Lion :: Bootcamp Don't Detect Windows 7.iso
May 28, 2012
I have few months ago a new macbook pro 13 inch 2011 with lion. Now I want to do a partition because that way I can play with games in windows 7. I have a original iso of windows 7 32 bits, and I make a booteable usb with windows 7 usb tool. But when I go to bootcamp and i try to install windows 7, he say that can't find a windows 7 CD... Also I try to start with option key, and I can see hard disk, and recovery disk, I go to hard disk and after I have the option to start from Macintosh HD with Lion or 2 options of windows, but if I try to start with one of this options, appear a black window saying that i need to insert a booteble cd and press any key.

I own an unused copy of Windows XP professional and i want to add a new partition on my Macbook Pro so i can install Windows XP on it and have OSX and Windows on one machine. But with the new version of Bootcamp that comes with OSX Lion, i cant install XP because its not supported. When i put the Windows XP Installation disc and click the 'Install" button on Bootcamp, it doesn't recognize the disc because Windows XP isn't supported on this version of Bootcamp. I am also unable to downgrade back to Snow Leopard. Is there anyway i can get Windows XP to work on my Lion based machine without downgrading my Mac OS or using a VM?

I have been using Macs for a good few years now and have never had a problem with viruses. However a lot of my friends run Windows on their PC's and want me to get a virus programme to scan my files & downloads before I share them. Can anyone recommend a good virus software (preferably freeware) that scans all viruses, not just those harmful to macs. Currently I use iAntivirus, but from what I can see it only finds those relevant to macs.

I just installed Office 2008 on Mac OS X 10.5.8, but I can't seem to get the system to detect Office updates; it won't even detect Office 2008 SP1. Every time I try to get Office to detect new updates, it gives me the following message:
There are no updates available for your Microsoft software at this time. Please check again later.
which is funny because there obviously ARE new updates. I know that I can simply download the updates manually from the Microsoft support site (which I did to install SP1), but I am curious as to what the source of the problem is, and if it can be fixed. I have had Office 2008 installed on the same machine before, but had to reinstall it. Before reinstalling, it detected updates just fine. Now it won't!
I also installed the most recent version of Microsoft Autoupdate 2.1.1, but it didn't seem to work.

I have Windows 7 installed on my sons MacBook Pro.
The Drive is partitioned at 500GB for Windows and 300GB for Mac.
In windows, I need to shrink the Windows drive, and then create 2 extra drives from it.
However, I can shrink the drive, but when I try to Format, it tells me that it cannot find the drive, and then it changes the drive types to all "Dynamic" including the Mac Drive.
And once this happens, I can no longer access the Mac drive during Boot, and windows will not load, as it cannot find the drive during windows boot up. And which point, I have to restore the system and it takes up to 6 hours to installed Lion, as my Internet is slowing that a cold winters day.
So, my question is the following.
How can I successfully shrink the drive.
Then Partition the FREE space
Then Format to NTFS without loosing drive type and integrity?

Installed windows 7 today (geniune copy) to play the Star Trek Online open beta, managed to download and install it, but when I go to play it, it crashes. Went to performance information and tools and under graphics it says: Total Memory Not Detected and everything is 0MB apart from display adapter which says 6.1.7600.16385 and monitor resolution.
I have a 24" iMac 3.06Ghz with 8800 graphic card. Few weeks ago I had windows 7 installed for dragon age, ran like a charm, but I got rid of partition (dont ask why)
yes I have installed the bootcamp drivers!

Used migration assistant to move my Blackbook apps and settings to the Air using a Time Machine backup from my Time Capsule - wirelessly. Two hours later (not terrible) and I'm using my Air with all my apps and setting - fantastic.
Question: My Blackbook also has a Bootcamp partition running Windows - is there a way to take that image and migrate it to my MB Air? I'd rather not have to purchase the Superdrive and re-install/setup the Windows OS on my Air....

I want to try out Windows 7. During this process though I deleted my winXP partition. When I went to create a new BootCamp partition in The BootCamp SetUp Assisstant, it failed to create the partition on my harddrive.
I was greeted with the error, "BootCamp SetUp assistant failed to yada yada yada, please backup and reformat your harddrive."
So my question is do I really have to reinstall Mac OS X? (I backup with TimeMachine so it won't be a big deal but still thats a very long process.) Do you guys have any tips or anything to get Mac OS X to partition my main HDD?

Maybe I'm just over thinking this, but Apple never posted a KB article about how to upgrade an existing bootcamp partition with the new snow leopard bootcamp 3.0 drivers. I'm assuming if you already have bootcamp 2.1 you boot up in boot camp and then insert the snow leopard disc in order to upgrade the drivers to 3.0 correct? Or do I have to erase my stupid bootcamp partition and reinstall it all over again using the new leopard boot camp assistant in order to get to 3.0?

I have bought Macbook Pro last year. Its 2.4 Ghz Intel Core i5 machine with 4GB 1333 MHz DDR3. Of late it used to go to sleep randomly even while working. Last week I took it to Apple store who was not able to diagnose the cause of the problem but as a precautionary measure has changed, as per him, a bus connecting harddrive to the logic board. However the problem was still not solved. Few hours ago suddenly the machine went off and on starting it I found that it is not detecting the batteries. On the battery icon it displays an X, states "no batteries are available" and randomly switches the power source from battery to adapter and back. There is no light on the adapter. [code]

I'm using a 13 inches mid-2011 macbook air with OS X 10.7.4 on 12 June, I found the update of Thunderbolt 1.2 in the system update center and I patched it. Luckliy, this patch didn't kill my kernel as it did to many other machines. But I'm still a bit worried when I learned that this updates messed up a lot of users' machines. Now applle announces the newer version of thunderbolt 1.2.1 to correct what was wrong. But no matter how hard I try to check system updates, I don't have it. I know I could try to download it on the website, but is there any valid reason that I don't get this patch? Will install in creating new problems?

I have a MacBook Pro running OSX 10.7.2 and it recently stopped booting. Got the gray screen with the folder that has the question mark on it. I have attempted to use Command + R to do a Internet Recovery of the system, but once I get to the Mac OS X Lion screen to select where i want to install OSX, there are no hard drives listed.
So I figure, the hard drive (Hitachi 500GB that came with the Mac) is damaged or not functioning correctly. This doesn't seem to be the case because I can hook it up to a notebook SATA hard drive enclosure, connect it to my other MBP and read all the contents of the drive! This was good news, as i was able to copy off all important data, etc.
Using Disc utility, the partitions check out, and the drive appears to be functioning OK.
Verify and Repair volume “Macintosh HD”
Checking file systemChecking Journaled HFS Plus volume.
Checking extents overflow file.
Checking catalog file.
Checking multi-linked files.
Checking catalog hierarchy.
Checking extended attributes file.
Checking volume bitmap.
Checking volume information.
The volume Macintosh HD appears to be OK.
Volume repair complete.Updating boot support partitions for the volume as required.
I have purchased a replacement hard drive and am waiting for it to arrive in the mail.
My question now is this:
Am I able to do some kind of time machine backup, make an image, or do some kind of target drive restore from this hard drive since it is accessible on my other computer?
I don't mind reloading the operating system on the original MBP, but would really like to avoid the process of setting up all the applications, settings, etc if this drive is in fact functional.

I've tried re-installing and updating every possible graphics related driver for Windows 7 i cannot for love or toffee get the bloody thing to even recognize my display. I am using a 26" tv as an external display, it works on OS X (very easily), windows XP (also very easily) and even Vista (also easily) and connecting through a DVI/HDMI connector. Why not windows 7? I've scoured the web for answers but can't find anything. Is anyone at least in the same boat as me? I really need this solved soon

Does anyone know or have the same problem where pressing the F7, F8, F9 keys (which are previous, stop/pause, and forward) doesn't work in iTunes unless iTunes is the "active" window? I know that in OS X that if i pressed those buttons, it would do it even if I was in another application, but in the Windows 7 version it won't do it if another application is "active." Also, the same applies to the Apple Remote.

So I am trying to open up my bootcamp partition (running windows 7) in VMWare and I get this error message: Cannot open the disk '/Users/brandonquirarte/Library/Application Support/VMware Fusion/Virtual Machines/Boot Camp/%2Fdev%2Fdisk0/Boot Camp partition.vmwarevm/Boot Camp partition.vmdk' or one of the snapshot disks it depends on. It was working just fine before the upgrade to Snow Leopard but I am not sure if that has anything to do with it. I had to reinstall Windows 7 after I tried installing the Bootcamp 3.0 drivers so that may be more of the issue. I didn't test to see if would work still when I upgraded to Snow Leopard.

Last night I installed Windows Vista to run a game on here, but I got several issues. I already installed the drivers from the Snow Leopard DVD, but the problems still persist.
The issues are:
1. Sound is very very low and uneven. I have the volume all the way maxed, but the loudest it can go is less than half than the potential volume in Snow Leopard.
2. Headphones don't work. I've tried like 3 pairs of headphones and none of them work. When I plug them in, the sound still comes from the left speaker (I can barely hear the right speaker) on the laptop and not on the headphones. Also, the headphone jack is emitting a red light out of it.
3. The lights on the keyboard won't shut off. I used the F5 key to turn off the keyboard backlighting, and while it goes very dim they won't shut off.
I already tried the suggestions on this thread but none of those fixes work. I need help! Especially with the sound! Anything at all would be greatly appreciated.
I'm running a MacBook Pro 13" from June 2009, 2.26GHz Intel, 4GB of RAM, and an Nvidia GeForce 9400M. I instlled a 64bit version of Windows Vista (OEM).

I have installed Windows 7 on a Bootcamp partition and use VM Fusion as well, I am trying to get my Windows 7 desktop onto my Plasma TV when I have only Windows 7 booted.
I have a mini displayport to DVI adapter (not worried about sound right now) but when boot into Windows I cannot find the TV as a output setting.
It used to be with my old PC I would see the TV as a possible output and I could chose either Dualscreens or simply set the Plasma as the main display.
Could someone please help me achieve this with my iMac? Am I missing a driver or just missing a setting?

Basically, I created a BC partition for my W7, however, I only gave it 32gigs of space (I only wanted to use it for gaming). However, now I want to install Autodesk 3D Studio Max 2010 on W7, however I don't have enough space on my BC partition to do that...I've researched enough to know that I will need to use one of the following programs:I've read up on all the programs and done some research on them.
Ive noticed most people are having problems with all of these programs when trying to backup a W7 image whilst on Snow Leapord (Mac OS x 10.6, which I am running)I know that is the function of the 3 applications above... But to my knowledge... In theory - I should be able to just backup my W7 using a reliable backup program (Can someone recommend any?) and then delete the existing BootCamp partition, create a new one of 100gig and then just load up the backed up image for Windows 7...

I have a 2010 15" MacBook Pro 2.4 i5 that I am trying to install Windows 7 on using BootCamp. I have installed a partition using BootCamp of 45GB but once it prompts me to insert the Windows disk, I insert it but after a few seconds the machine ejects the disk without ever mounting or seemingly recognizing the disk.
I am trying to install Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit from a disk.
Can anyone offer any insight or help me figure out what the problem is? I have already tried rebooting and that doesn't work.
