Mar 10, 2012Every-time I open itunes it asks me for my user name and password, TWICE! There's no checkbox for "remember me".

OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: Smart Folder Doesn't Remember Folders To Search
Mar 13, 2012I've made a Smart Folder to have one place to look for any bills I've paid in the last 40 days, with the following parameters:Â
- Search within a folder within my Home folder called "Accounts & Services"
- Name begins with "PD 2" (all my paid bills are labeled like "PD 2012-02-01 AT&T," for example)
- Last modified date is within last 40 days
The folder worked when I created it, and whenever I opened it for a day or so afterwards.Â
But a month later when I open the Smart Folder, the latest bills aren't there.Â
When I "Show Search Criteria," I see the "Search within" has been changed to a circular reference — it SEARCHES WITHIN THE SMART FOLDER ITSELF!Â
The practical upshot of which is that it finds only the files that were found at the time the Smart Folder was created, and does not find anything newer because it's looking in the wrong place.Â
I'm hoping someone has a remedy for this, but I don't have high hopes considering the "Mac Quick Tips" podcasts from 2009 in which Smart Folders are demonstrated show this problem in the demo without realizing it.

Apr 8, 2009Here's something I've wondered on and off for a while, just remembered it now so I'll ask.
The enduring issue I've had with all of Crudbooks (well, among many other issues - but they've usually been different for all models/refreshes of Crudbooks) is the screen brightness on AC and battery. It doesn't seem to intelligently switch in the way that for example Windows does. Or to put it more specifically, it doesn't seem to remember brightness settings for AC and battery modes that well.
It is of course the matter of a few seconds to adjust the brightness but I wonder if there's a way of doing it automatically. A potentially basic question, but something I've never bothered to find the answer to. Any takers?

May 15, 2009ever since updating to 10.5.7, my Mail has been acting strange. I had both a MobileMe account and my university's POP account set up to work with Mail. After updating, it only kept the Mobile Me account. I didn't really think anything of it and just added an account for the university email. It all worked fine until I restarted my computer, where it again lost all the university stuff but kept Mobile Me. I did this another few times but nothing changed. I tried searching around to see if anyone else had this problem but came up with nothing. Does anyone know a solution to this?

Jul 2, 2012I have an old Dual 2.5 GHz PowerPC G5 (aluminum tower). When it boots up, I get a message that the Date & Time are no longer correct. I go into date and time settings and reset them, however when I shot down and reboot later, the time has been reset to June 1969 or some similar date. Also, when the computer shuts down, it cannot be rebooted immediately. If I try to reboot it, I hear the fans start up and drives start spinning, but then they all seem to power down (a red light can still be visible inside. If I shut it down and wait 15 minutes, it will boot up fine, however the date/time has reset to 1969. Â
I have done the obvious things like replacing the clock battery and resetting the pram and smu, but still no joy. I suspect a hardware fault of some kind, but don't know what to try next.

Dec 9, 2014When I visit websites, I constantly have to hit the zoom in button in the Safari menu bar. If I don't do this, there are words that overlap on the page. Is there a way I could make Safari remember my zoom options? I have 18 point selected under the Advanced section of Safari System Preferences. I also use Chrome and Chrome seems to remember my view options.

OS X :: Snow Leopard CD Doesn't Run?
Dec 26, 2010I have a MB Pro 15'' that's almost 4 years old (=it's the previous model).
I bought a Snow Leopard CD to upgrade from 10.5.8 a few days ago. I tried it on Thursday and the driver wouldn't accept it, it would try a bit to run but then it would get spitted out. I assumed it is because of the scratches the CD had. So I bought another one. And I am having the exact same problem: Although the CD is in perfect conditions, it just won't run. This time the driver tries a bit harder (I can tell by the sounds) but in the end it just won't get accepted.

Oct 9, 2009Even though this may be a naive thought/ question, it is a honest thought/ question.Since OS X,version 10.6 is marketed as Snow Leopard, and not as 10.6, it seems to me that us relatively new Mac users could benefit from Apple actually using the words Snow Leopard in the "About This Mac" screens.I say this because a lot of tines I hear the question "are you using Snow Leopard", and to a newbie Mac user, it's not immediately clear when you check "About This Mac", unless you know 10.6 is Snow Leopard.
Or is Snow Leopard 10.6.1 and not 10.6? Now remember, all of us start from ground zero in computing savvy.so be gentle with me and if Snow Leopard is actually stated somewhere.
OS X :: HP Scanner Doesn't Work With Snow Leopard?
Sep 3, 2009I updated to Snow Leopard. I have an HP 6310 All-In-One. The scanner portion worked fine prior to the update, now an "Unknown Error" constantly occurs preventing me from scanning documents. Image Capture doesn't even recognize there is a scanner available. I have downloaded the most recent driver from HP, (2007), but it still does not work. Will I have to wait for HP to build a new driver specifically for Leopard?

Mar 8, 2010I just installed Win 7 in bootcamp on my mac pro and want to be able to connect to it and control it from my MBP on a local network. I used to just use RDC when I was running win xp sp2 - worked great. Now, RDC doesn't work. I turned on screen sharing and installed realvnc in win 7. But, I can't use RDC still and I tried using chicken of the vnc and also the command-k: vnc://10.0.1.3Neither work - I set up realvnc to only require a password set in that program, the ip addy is correct, and realvnc says it is up and running on the mac pro.

Aug 19, 2009I just noticed, that the built-in video-cams on two iMacs (one white 20" and one aluminum 24") do not work.
System Profiler is not detecting a video-cam. I guess, this probably confirms that this is not the GM build. Does anyone have a solution to enabling the video-cams?
OS X :: Snow Leopard - External USB HD Doesn't Work Anymore
Aug 27, 2009i have a problem with my Snow Leopard installation. Since I've installed Snow Leopard, my external USB HD won't work anymore. It's a ICY BOX case with USB 2 and Firewire 400 interface. The mac is a mid 2009 mac mini (9400m).
P.S.: It doesn't show up in the disc utility
PP.S.: I tried two different hard drives in the enclosure, but all worked fine before Snow Leopard!

Jan 17, 2010I just bought Snow Leopard today and I am trying to install it on my MacBook (with intel processor). I have inserted the dvd and tried to install it but there seems to be a problem as it is written: "Time remaining about 45 minutes" and this doesn't change. The dvd has been running for over 2 hours now and I don't know what to do nor what is going on? I understood installation with Snow Leopard should be faster. Is it normal that it takes so long to install the operating system (more than 2 hours)? It should just be an upgrade as I have Leopard already installed. I also have Windows Vista installed on a disk partition. Does that make any problem? It shouldn't as at the beginning of the installation I chose Macintosh HD.

May 22, 2012I have a Canon Pixma MX860 at home. I've connected three Macs to it, two running Lion and one running Snow Leopard. In each case, I simply clicked the "+" sign and the printer appeared under "default". This became one of my standard examples of "why Macs are better than PCs" (process very compicated for PCs).Â
I just got a new MacBook Pro at work running Snow Leopard, and it doesn't see the printer, and there doesn't seem to be any way I can add it by hand. It *does* see the computer memory as an SMB device, but there doesn't seem to be any way to go from that to adding a printer. I suspect this may have something to do with security settings, since they do lots of tweaks to computers before they give them to us.Â

Jun 1, 2012My attempts to install Mac OSX 10.6 on iMac MC309 bring always the same result - kernel pamick. What I did was:1. insert DVD Snow Leopard Install Disk, reboot and press ''C' - kernel panick;2. reboot into Recovery Mode, open Disk Utility, erase  the preinstalled Lion completely, format the disk as Mac OS Extended (journaled). Then try to reboot  into DVD  Mac OSX 10.6 install disk: kernel panick.3. In Disk Utility go to restore tab, use DVD install disk as source and use my disk as destination, hit restore. When trying to reboot kernel panick happens.

OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: Can't Start Mac Because Took Too Much Space And Now The Disk Doesn't Mount
Mar 27, 2012I am most certain that this is the case: foolishly, I didnt leave much free space and now the disk doesnt want to mount. I tried the single user mode, I also booted from DVD, they appear but the disk utility shows the disk but I cannot repair the disk, because it is unmounted. I tried the basic commands in single user mode, no effect either. I still cant get over the blue screen with the apple logo and a circle running. I need to free up some spasce. Unforetunately, important files were not backedup, so I really cant delete the whole disk. I need to delete specific files.  I dont know where are my big files located - so, how do I orientate myself among the folders? Lets say I would delete my itunes libary, which I would later on renew thanks to the back/up, how would I delete them?Â

there are situtions when you don't want to download photos, sometimes I'm just doing tests, and want to see photos in the camera instead of downloading them first.. ( at any rate this should be my choice to make, not Apple's....;-)
and: I want to see the camera in the FINDER (not iPhoto or any other program where you have to "import" the photos.. I don't like those programs and never use them..)Â
it doesn't even show up in Adobe Bridge, for pete's sake.. this is ABSURD..
but on the pc you see it right away in Windows Explorer... no reason whatsoever why the mac shouldn't do this also...
