I am just updated to Mac OS X 10.5.8 so that I could use itunes. But now I get a message that says that to Open the latest version of itunes (that I just downloaded), I need I need Quicktime 7.5.5 or later. I've tried "updating existing software" in the Quicktime menu, but no updates are found. I've also been to the quicktime download page on apple.com and tried that, but no dice.

I just reinstalled my operating system, and I'm in the process of migrating files from my external drive back to my internal.I'm trying to use iTunes, but it keeps telling me I need QuickTime v7.5.5 or later, and the version I currently have (with no software updates available) is 7.2.1.How can I get the later version of QT so I can continue to use iTunes? I haven't encountered this problem before so I'm not sure how to get around it.

I installed the software updates pushed to me the week of May 7, 2012 (installed them May 12th) and now cannot open certain web pages (examples www.cnn.com and www.ancestry.com) but am able to open others (ex. www.harrynorman.com). I installed an update to safari, one for security and another I cannot recall. Rebooted (twice) and still having the same problem. I have a Macbook running Mac OS X 10.6.8 and Safari 5.1.7.

I can't open quicktime player. I just downloaded the newest free version from the apple site. When I click open it says "could not open because the specified format is not supported" I think that is a problem with what opens it? Everything is set to open with Textedit, I don't remember how or why. How can I get quicktime to open?
View 24 Replies View RelatedI have a few h.264 -mp4/m4v files that QTX can't open, but Quickview and QT7 handles with ease. The files have been made using Handbrake. Examining the info windows in QT7 on one movie that does work and one that does not, does not tell me much. they seem pretty identical. Info copied from opened files in QT7.

I am trying to open something in Quicktime with ".mkv at the end. I could not so I tryed DIVX+ and it said this "You may need an additional audio decoder to play the soundtrack of this file. This file contains a track in the Dolby AC3 Audio (code "8192") format. You may need to install a QuickTime™ component for this audio format in order to hear the soundtrack of this file." What do i do?

You still can't have 10.6.2 open all .mov files in QUICKTIME PRO.. the change all still reverts back to QT (amateur/useless/covers up vital image area) X.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSometimes, I get e-mails that contain clips that show a QuickTime icon and the letters WMV. They used to open automatically when clicked on. For the last few months, they don't. I get an error message:The movie could not be opened. It has a QuickTime icon on a yellow triangle and an exclamation point.
If I drop the clips on the Windows Media Player icon in the dock, they do open. Not so on the QuickTime icon.
Evidently, I have done something that causes the clips not to open automatically as before.
I've checked both WMP and QT preferences, but I do not see anything, as far as I know, that would have caused the change.
I recorded a movie with isight-a very long one at that-around 3 hours. When I try to play back I receive error message "The movie is not in a format that QuickTime Player understands." How to play? I have Quicktime Player 10 running from Snow Leopard. Inside the folder for the event in imovie it shows the movie file but with a zero kb size. Also has an imovie cache folder.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a few .wma movie files that I have created in (the horrible) "Windows Live Movie maker".
I wanted to be able to play these files on my iTunes, so I foolishly purchased QuickTime Pro after reading the description. "QuickTime 7 Pro can convert your media to different formats, so you can watch a movie or video on your iPhone, iPod, and Apple TV..". But it refuses to open any .wma files so that I can convert them. I keep getting the error message #2048. I read somewhere that installing new codecs might help...?
