Is there an upgrade beyond 10.4.11 to Leopard 10.5 that doesn't require an intel-based mac. I bought Snow Leopard 10.6.3 and it tells me that I need an intel based mac. Will 10.5 leopard work?

I made this a new topic because I think it is important enough to do so. Probably most of those that originally complained about this have moved on to the new MacPro but I am sure there are still enough G5 owners out there that still have concerns about this topic.
A clean install of Leopard eliminates the infamous power supply beeping
Its amazing, my G5 is like a new machine; no more of the annoying power supply beep; although, I learned to live with it after a while and didn't even notice it. However, the silence is now very noticeable.

My Daughter's iPod requires iTunes in 10.1 or higher, but my PowerMac G4 won't allow me to upgrade (I currently have v 9.2.1). when I downloaded the installation thing it says I needed OS 10.5.3 and I'm running 10.4.11.
I have a dual 1.6Ghz power PC G4 processor.
For that matter, does anyone know if I can upgrade my OS to 10.5 or above and/or if it would be worthwhile to do so?

I currently have Mac OS X 10.3.9 running on a Power Mac G5. I desperately need to get Final Cut Pro 6 installed on this machine, but it won't install unless I upgrade, so I need to know how to upgrade to the highest version I can run on the Power Mac G5. Does Apple have that upgrade online to purchase?

I am perfectly happy with my MBA, but I must admit that I like to always have the "latest and greatest". The new MacBooks look great, although I haven't seen one "live" or had the opportunity to get hands on with one yet. If I buy a new MacBook, I give up the form factor, but gain the processor power, features, etc. Also, it will really feel like a new computer because of the different appearance. Since I like the MBA form factor, I was thinking of just upgrading to that. The problem is that it won't even feel like I got a new laptop, because visually it would be identical to the one I have now. In fact, the reduced battery life may not offset the benefit of larger HD and improved graphics. Dying for a new laptop though... what are you other MBA owners thinking?

Wish to upgrade my PM G5 model 7.3. (June 2004). I have a 2 GHz dual core. Most 3,5" SATA HD today are SATA-300 and SATA-600 could either of these SATA HD be used in my G5, or is there some other specification on the SATA that I need to know before I purchase it? I am looking for two 1 TB HD to upgrade.

I am curious about the system requirement of Snow Leopard. Since the performance and speed are better on SL, I think Snow Leopard will consume a little bit more resource of our macs., although I know Snow Leopard is just only the refinement of the software.
So, my question is that WILL YOU UPGRADE YOUR RAM OF YOUR MAC?

Ive tried over and over to upgrade. I uninstalled the old flashplayer, installed the new version, did a disk repair and nothing. The only way for me to view a flv video is to go to “open with” and use Realplayer. It says it’s successfully installed but when I try to view a video the only thing that happens is that another window pops up that is completely blank but has a title that reads:
160GB HD:Library:Documentation:Help:HP Photo and Imaging Help:shrd:flashplayer
I’m working on a: Mac OS X 10.4.11Processor 1.67 GHz PowerPC G4Memory 2GB DDR SDRAMStartup Disk 160GB HD I’ve installed:

I have a June 2004 revision Power Mac G5 (DP 1.8Ghz) with an AGP slow that is dying for a more powerful graphics card.
I have had the machine since new and have it paired with a 23" Cinema Display, Magic Mouse, BT Apple keyboard, 4GB of Kingston RAM, a pair of 500gb internal HDs, several TBs of external storage, Logitech Z2300 speakers, etc. We also have a new 15" Mac Book Pro, a 13" Mac Book, an Apple TV, Airport Extreme, etc. The desktop doesn't get a TON of use but it is still snappy enough for a lot of what I use it for.
However, since I installed Leopard on it, the OS is nowhere near as fast as it was before (with respect to UI graphics, etc).... I should have expected the newer OS would take more of a toil on the system (especially the graphics card) then did Tiger.... the system has only the factory-installed 64mb GeForce card.... I'm assuming that Leopard, probably more than Tiger, can draw from the GPU for graphic-needs/UI work and I'm assuming that a new graphics card would make a difference....
I just need help deciphering the cards that are available.... 9800XT?? X800??? Any advice on compatible 8x AGP cards would be AMAZING.

i accidentally hit the power switch on the wall during an upgrade (might even have been a firmware upgrade, I didn't really look at what was going on). Anyway, now it hangs on the silver Apple logo screen with a spinny wheel on reboot. It's only 3 months old, it's the $599 model.
What to do? I see that you can download firmware restoration disks but they appear to be limited to earlier versions of the Mac mini.

As the title states, I can no longer put my computer to sleep using the power button. I have to put it to sleep using the mouse. I miss the convenience of the power button. The window for energy saver is not like the display in support, it is missing the "Allow the power button to put the computer to sleep" option. Very strange. I am running an older desktop (2009) with Mavericks, fully updated. 10.9.4

I've recently acquired an iMac and wanted to upgrade to Lion, however I believe I need to upgrade from Leopard to Snow Leopard first - which could prove to end up costing a fortune! I've read recently that Apple are offering the upgrade to Snow Leopard free of charge for MobileMe users, however when I've followed a link to fill in a request form, this just takes me to the Find My Phone feature on iCloud.

My brother and parents have a Mac Mini each.
They have not the latest generation but the prior Intel generation -- that shipped with Leopard.
Being the family IT guy, last time I was in town I purchased the Snow Leopard retail DVD family pack upgrade and upgraded my parents machines to Snow Leopard. I couldn't upgrade my brother's mini because he had it away at school.
Now he is back at my parents house (as am I) and I was all set to upgrade his machine to Snow Leopard but I can't find the retail install disk I purchased.
However, I do have the Snow Leopard Mac Mini OSX install DVD that shipped with my recently purchased (latest generation) Mac Mini.
Question -- does anyone know if I could use this latest generation Snow Leopard Mac Mini system install DVD (the one that shipped with my mac Mini) to upgrade my brother's previous generation mac mini running Leopard to snow leopard.
Not looking to do a clean install but rather the upgrade.
Anyhow ever tried this? I obviously don't want to upgrade his previous generation machine with drivers, etc. for my latest generation --- rather JUST get his leopard upgraded to snow leopard.

I have mac mini (early 2009) running leopard and want to upgrade to snow leopard. I've bought a disk from a local store and when I try to install I get as far as 45 minutes to go when the installer reboots the computer and says it will continue to install after reboot. So it reboots kicks the disk out and reboots back into Leopard. The Apple site says it is probably a bad disk, so I got another one, still does the same. Apple also says it might be the dvd drive, I have no other issues with the drive, it installs the original leopard disks without problem, it reads video dvd's without problem, it verifies the snow disk as perfect.

I've been reading a great deal in this forum regarding the issue in the subject line of this post. But it all has to do with 10.6.8 Snow Leopard. My 10.5.8 on my system has not been updated in any way for a while. So how is it that in the last couple of weeks all of my Power PC apps still on board, are going through this crash on start up routine. If I select 'relaunch' from the dialogue window that pops up upon the intial crash, the app will run fairly normally. This can't be about a security update like with Snow Leopard.
