When trying to install a fresh copy of the OS what key/key-combination would you hold down after inserting the (Leopard) disk, if the keyboard isn't an Apple one? Holding down the C-key doesn't work.
View 1 RepliesI haven't had this work with Lion on my macbook pro that just died nor the Macbook Air I just got. I use accents on letters all the time and it would be really helpfu. I've tried turning off key repeat, that doesn't help. I tried copy and pasting something into terminal I saw on one of the other discussions, but that didn't help either (although it is possible I did it wrong since I don't use Terminal hardly ever). Â

The scanner portion worked fine prior to the update, now an "Unknown Error" constantly occurs preventing me from scanning documents. Image Capture doesn't even recognize there is a scanner available. I have downloaded the most recent driver from HP, (2007), but it still does not work. Will I have to wait for HP to build a new driver specifically for Leopard?

I used to just use RDC when I was running win xp sp2 - worked great. Now, RDC doesn't work. I turned on screen sharing and installed realvnc in win 7. But, I can't use RDC still and I tried using chicken of the vnc and also the command-k: vnc://10.0.1.3Neither work - I set up realvnc to only require a password set in that program, the ip addy is correct, and realvnc says it is up and running on the mac pro.
View 2 Replies View Relatedi have a problem with my Snow Leopard installation. Since I've installed Snow Leopard, my external USB HD won't work anymore. It's a ICY BOX case with USB 2 and Firewire 400 interface. The mac is a mid 2009 mac mini (9400m).
P.S.: It doesn't show up in the disc utility
PP.S.: I tried two different hard drives in the enclosure, but all worked fine before Snow Leopard!

1. tried deleting Airport and then re-adding then clicking apply. Worked the very first time I tried this and it has only worked twice since.
2. tried allowing all incoming connections, worked once now problem still persists.
3. Tried re-starting router, this has never worked
4. There was a post about deleting a file, the person said they were instructed by apple care to do this, that didn't work either. Â
- Seems to only do this when the computer is on sleep mode
- everything else in the house connects fine to the internet
- this problem does not only happen in my house, it happens at coffee shops etc
- sometimes it is able to connect via tethering off my iphone
- this was a problem 2 years ago on this computer, then it was fine for 2 years and now it's back!Â

My laptop has been having problems track pad doesn't always work, runs slow, freezes. I replaced the hard drive on advice and that didn't help. I went to disk utility and verify and repaired disk permissions, that didn't help. I went to the erase tab and I clicked on "erase free space" thinking that would "defragment" free space, like a PC has.Now all my available memory is gone.I thought I was freeing up space. Now my apps don't work correctly and I can't reinstall because I don't have enough disk space.

Have done this before using system disk and holding C etc. Since upgrading to Snow Leopard from Leopard it no longer sees my system disk. Restart holding down C with system disk installed...and mac just boots-up normally! Ultimately I want to run the disk utility to check that the Hard Drive is healthy after install.

I told myself not to do it. Don't update the Safari software to 4.0, you know how they always mess up these things. And yet, per accident I did. Of course Safari 4.0 doesn't work. Every time I open it, it shuts down. iChat also doesn't work anymore, and even the Dashboard shuts down every now and then. In addition, the computer feels incredibly slow. I can't download rapidshare links on iGetter anymore and everything just feels wrong. Countless threads have been opened on this matter with a variety of different problems for different people. Yet I have not read a proper solution. I have seen all kinds of technical solutions being offered but I'm not a computer wiz and I do not know the terms they use. I just want to go back to Safari 3.2 or at least the one before the 4.0 But I read that deleting Safari 4 and reinstalling 3.2 won't work because of a certain webkit that got installed with it, making it impossible to go back.

So I clicked the volume up button, and it doesn't change the level (there's a small "no" sign, the circle with the line through it, under where the volume level should be). In the menu bar, the volume control is now a light grey and I can't use it. Same with in system preferences. Any ideas on how to get volume to start working again or why it stopped?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded from Tiger to Leopard. When I had the old Tiger software installed, I was able to zoom in and out on my screen by holding down the Control key while scrolling with my mouse.
But since I installed Leopard (not Snow Leopard, since I am using a G5 Tower PowerPC), this key combination no longer works.
This former screen zoom feature is important to me because I am a graphic designer with a neurological condition (tremors in my hands) that makes selecting fine points in graphic applications difficult unless I zoom in.
Note: using the normal graphics apps magnifying glass feature does not help me, because the select points still stay small, but using the old screen zoom method made the points larger and easier for me to select.
