Yesterday I had a Leopard software update which included new keyboard firmware. I did the update and the keyboard continued to function normally. This AM I booted my MacBook Pro and discovered the keyboard no longer responds to inputs. However, the MB does responds to an external USB keyboard.
Now I don't know if I have a sudden hardware problem or the MB keyboard is not working as a result of the firmware update. Has anyone else experienced a similar problem? Can I go back to the earlier revision of the keyboard firmware?
Hmmm - while writing this I just realized I have a bootable image of my system made a few week back on an external drive - I'll have to try it.
I just bought a new 2012 aluminum Wireless keyboard and the function keys do not work properly. I am currently running OS 1.5.8. I would expect most keys to match the icons on the keyboard. I do not want to upgrade to Snow Leopard or Lion. I have installed an aluminum keyboard upgrade 2.0 and this did not help. I just want the the keyboard functions to match the icons on the keyboard.. Volume up...volume down...

I used to just closed my Mac instead of pressing the shutdown button; I tried this time but I cannot shut it down anymore, also my keyboard cannot control the volume or turn on the keyboard-light. Also I remember there is like a back-up shortcut (or something like that don't know what is it exactly named) consisting of three keyboard button.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo my friend was using his MacBook and went to do something else. He came back and the screen was black, he hit space and nothing, tried the trackpad and nothing. He restarted by holding the Power button, and it go to the log-in screen, but he can't type anything, or use the trackpad. He has tired restarting several times and no luck. He also tried an external Keyboard/Mouse and that didn't work.
He did plug in a Flash drive and the light turned on, so the USB ports are at least getting power, but nothing is working.
I just got a generic usb keyboard to use with my mbp as schoolwork is taking its toll on the keys and I wouldn't mind preserving it a little better.
This keyboard is the dynex from bbuy that's labeled in windows crap but was cheap and works fine on the mac. Unfortunately, everytime the mbp comes out of sleep, the keyboard is unresponsive and i have to set it up again in settings.
Just hoping there's a simple fix and that it's not terminal
thanks in advance.
I bought a new i7 iMac about two months ago and love it but the Bluetooth keyboard it came with recently started acting up. It randomly disconnects and when it does it will type whatever letter I last hit on the keyboard repeatly.

I would like to edit my o , u , and a keys to create ??d 䠨alt + u = ? + o = ?tc...) Is this possible? It's a bit annoying switching between the different keyboards when I would like to make an umlaut.
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy desk configuration for my imac includes a keyboard tray. I am contemplating just not using it, however it really does put the keyboard in a more natural place for me to sit correctly. If I want to use the wired keyboard though, I will obviously need some type of usb extension. I have read these came with the old keyboards, but they don't come with the new ones. Does anyone know where I can find one that is compatible with the aluminum keyboard? Would the extenders that came with the old Mac keyboards work (in case i can find one on ebay or something)?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've just bought a Mac mini to use as a media centre, and I picked up the Apple wireless keyboard and mouse while I was at it. It wasn't until I got home that I read the "requirements" section on the side of the mouse and keyboard boxes, where it states that an existing keyboard and mouse are needed for setup.
I have a USB mouse, but no keyboard (my other Mac is a MBP), and nowhere to borrow one from (all my friends have laptops).
I'm thinking of buying a MacBook but I have one reservation. I'm moving from a Powerbook 12"...
What's the consensus on the MacBook keyboard in terms of ease & comfort of use? I write for a living so a good keyboard is pretty essential. I've always been mostly satisfied with my powerbook keyboard, it's pretty comfortable although I occasionally mash a neighbouring button with my big clumsy fingers. The MacBook keyboard looks a little... weird. How is it?
I've connect a Microsoft keyboard to my Mac and swapped the control and commany keys in system preferences.
The weird thing is Microsoft's keyboard can't understand the swap. When I press the control key, sometimes it thinks I am pressing command and sometimes it thinks I am pressing control.

I alternate between French and English regularly when typing, but every time I have to go to System Preferences (or add an ugly flag that does not match the color-scheme to the status-bar) and change the language. Is there a way to have a keyboard shortcut that switches between two keyboard shortcuts?

View 3 Replies View RelatedBluetooth says my keyboard is paired, configured, and connected (and it works).Keyboard under System Preferences says "no keyboard found" and it continues to search for the keyboard. View 4 Replies View RelatedAnyone have any idea? I'm thinking of getting a refurb MBP here in Japan, but it comes with Japanese keyboard that I'm really not used to. Apple have MBPs with English keyboard only for new units, not refurbished.
So I'm thinking of buying the English keyboard from parts site on the net and replacing it myself. However, I'd like to know if there's any driver change or anything needed on Mac OS X?
In the System Preferences, I don't see any place I can set what type of physical keyboard layout I'm using. Please advise if you've any experience.
I have a 2.16GHz MacBook and some of the keys stopped working and I did a computer formate and that didn't fix the problem. I was wondering if a version 2 keyboard would work on my version 1 MacBook. (the only difference is the Fkeys have the newer lineup) did anyone try this before?
View 2 Replies View RelatedThis is an idea that I have since I bought a MacBook Pro and it's because I love the trackpad and I use it instead of the mouse.
So the keyboard of an iMac can have integrated the keyboard itself + the trackpad in just a single "device".
The place of the trackpad can be where before were a numeric keypad. It can have the other features that have the MBP's keyboard.
I was just wondering what all of your thoughts were regarding these two keyboards. I know I can't get the Wireless Pro new anymore, however I can get it used for $20 from someone I know.
The new aluminum one however, I can get for about $40 used or just buy a new one for $70. I'm looking to buy a used one so it's pretty much the Wireless Pro for $20 vs the Wireless Aluminum for $40.
This will be going towards a set-up with my MBP which will be on an mstand, with an external monitor. I've already gotten the Magic Mouse so I'm trying to find a nice Bluetooth keyboard to compliment it.
Pretty sure the answer is no but want to check to be sure. I love the keyboard that came with my iMac (the ultra thin alum. keyboard USB). Can this keyboard be used on a PC computer (Windows)?
I do mostly writing with my computer and it sure is a comfortable keyboard to write with, but sometimes I have to use a PC at the office and the difference in my fingers and joints is quite noticeable.
keyboard shortcut for the About This Mac. Or even to open the Apple logo menu bar?

I've been a Microsoft ergonomic keyboard user for 3 years now. I just got my Mac Pro a few days ago. I cannot get over how beautiful the new aluminum keyboards are, but they're also uncomfortable. My wrists and fingers ache. I guess I'm used to more key travel and such, I will adjust, but I think I need some support. [URL] Does anyone else have any aches/pains from the new keyboard?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just picked up a new Mac Pro today, and with it a wireless keyboard. I have not opened the keyboard yet as I think I may prefer the one that came with my Pro. I particularly like the keypad. What do you guys think? How is the tactile feel of the wireless keyboard vs. the stocker?
View 22 Replies View RelatedI have given up with the Apple remote on eyetv as I cant get the grip of turning the menu on and off, I keep turning front row on.
I have the small apple wireless keyboard and would rather use this for all my eyetv tasks but dont want to have to use the mouse to operate the remote controller on screen.
In an ideal world I would like to reassign the following keys
F6 - Eye TV menu
F7 - Fast Rewind
F8 - Play/Pause
F9 - Fast Forward
