Whenever i open gmail it freezes and there are a long line of chat icons and then I have to go to 'spaces' to a new screen and force safari to quit- If I stay away from Gmail then safari is fine and I can also use gmail from another computer which seems really strange. I can also access mail from apple mail without any problems.

I participate in several on-line chat rooms that are multi-user camera chat. One example is camfrog. Another one is Paltalk. How can I set the Macbook air to play directly from the computer to the internet chat room, WITHOUT using the microphone and speakers? Effectively, this would be streaming music to the chatroom. On a PC, one has the option of setting up the sound card to play through a line out (as well as the speakers) and the line out replaces the Microphpne in the settings. This will play any sound your sound card is playing, including movie sounds, music, or a podcast - any time the mic button is selected in a chat room. Â

I have just set up Gmail IMAP in Apple Mail 5.2, during the setup I ticked a box asking me to set up chat. Now I cannot see anywhere in Mail where I can use chat, no icons or no indication that chat is set up or how to use it ? How do I use gmail chat with Mail 5.2?

From time to time, as I am composing a message using Gmail in Safari, the email screen "freezes." I cannot continue to type, copy or paste, or do anything else to manipulate the screen; it is as if the page has become an image. I speculate that this is due to some inadvertant "gesture" on my part, as at other times my Safari screen will sometimes zoom in and out unaccountably, presumably because my track pad senses two fingers pinching instead of scrolling. This latter problem is very annoying, but I attribute it to my own clumsiness. The former problem of the screen freeze is more than annoying, as it requires me to completely redo a sometimes lengthy email. Is there a gesture that causes a screen to be captured as an image?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been experience intermediate issues ranging from not showing icons standard in OSX (such as in my shared devices, HardDrive icons tha tmount on the desktop, etc) this is a unibody 2.4ghz i got in February that came with 10.5.5 and used combo updates on each update...ive done a blank install from scratch with nothing on it and i still experience the missing icon issues that dont happen on other unibody mbps i use ??
((the other macbook pro im connecting to is an identical model 2.4 and the other one is a unibody 17, they display the proper icons under 10.5.7, unlike shown below))
My system gets random freezes even when nothing but the browser, word or small applications, it will beachball for aboud 30seconds to 2minutes even after a clean install and a combo straight to 10.5.7 any ideas on these issues? Am I the only one who is having these missing icon issues...even after a clean isntall with the original OSX Install Discs?
I have successfully managed to integrate facebook chat in iChat. However, I was wondering whether it is possible to video chat with through facebook chat provided both people are using iChat. Does anyone know if this works?

Every so often the Finder just freezes: can't select any desktop icons or dock apps. Relaunching Finder always fixes it, but it is annoying. I have repaired permissions, cleared caches, no dice, still happens.

I am taking some online courses since I lost my job a few months ago, but it has become impossible to complete these courses because my browsers keep crashing. I tried Safari, Opera, Firefox, and even Netscape, but they all keep crashing. I took advice from one of the people who responded. That person suggested that I created a New Account with Safari alone as my browser, but Safari also crashed with that new account. What else can I do? I paid for these online courses but I cannot keep my browsers open long enough to even finish the first session.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have suddenly problems with using gmail, facebook, adc, etc. Everything was ok until yesterday afternoon. Since then I am unable to open i.e. gmail messages, facebook (anything but the home page), log in into the adc, etc ... It looks like pages where complex Javascript is used cause the problems. I am using a macbook pro with the latest software updates installed. I have tried on Safari 4, FF 3, Opera 9. I checked on my other two iMacs I have in-house ... same problem, although they are running Safari 3. The curious thing is that the only PC we have in-house works without problem on all those web sites. I have also switched off all devices on the network to see if there is no influence and i can't find no anormal traffic on the local network either. I thought about some kind of virus and erased my hard disk and re-installed from the original DVD.

Anyone having problems accessing gmail in Safari today? When I try to access the sign-in page, it tells me that "Safari can't open the page [URL] because your computer isn't connected to the Internet." I am clearly connected to the internet. Also, my Mail.app cannot connect to my gmail account and neither can my GPeek widget.
However, I have no problem accessing gmail via Firefox. I have noticed this problem a few times over the past 2-3 weeks, but though it was a google issue. Today was the first time I thought of trying to access gmail via Firefox, and it does, which points to Safari. Of course, now that I've finished typing this up, I can access gmail via Safari with no problems.
Is there a command line argument that I can use to turn to a specific page in a Pdf file either through Preview or Acrobat Reader? In Windows, this works easily (for example: robat.exe /A "page=123", "foo.pdf"), but I've looked everywhere for a Mac equivalent with no luck. I would like to avoid using programs like Pdftk that involve copying pages into newly created Pdf files.

I love the idea of a one-stop media center like iTunes, but as each new feature is added it just feels too big and slow to me now. It takes forever to open, it lags even when I just try scrolling through apps, it sends regular genius updates to Apple, it has a radio, ringtones, movies, tv shows, the list goes on. Does anyone else feel the same way?
View 18 Replies View RelatedI've had my macbook pro for about a month. Its everything you read about when you make the switch. Great build, screen, keyboard, stable, ease of use. Everything...except internet surfing. It's a big disappointment. I spend a lot of time waiting for pages to load..or getting the safari can't open message. (When I refresh this page I often will get the page to pop right up.)
I loaded a plug in recommended in the site "my first mac"...but no difference. I loaded firefox but get the same results. My 3 year old sempron dell inspiron and my wifes new Dell studio 17 both kick the macbook pro's butt in surfing so i don't believe its my home network. I have gone to the genius bar and they did some minor stuff but I have the same issues still.
The title says it all. Once in a while I'll be using Safari and it will freeze. The little error dialog that pops up normally offers a "Reopen the Application" option, but in these cases, it only says "Close" or "Report." If I try to open any application after this, nothing happens.
Has anyone had this problem? So far the only solution - a temporary one - is to restart the computer.
my Safari has been acting up almost ever since i upgraded to Snow Leopard months ago. Its kinda bad right now though. I do run multiple programs at once on my macbook white, but it seems everytime i open a new tab (within 5 minute intervals of each opening), my Safari freezes up with the beach ball going for 10+ seconds. Sometimes it takes so long i open up Chrome and pull up the website before Safari even opens the new tab. Also none of the apps i run simultaneously freeze or lag, just Safari.
View 3 Replies View RelatedThe problem began when I was attempting to force quit an app that had frozen last night. The Force Quit box wouldn't pop up and I got the rainbow pinwheel within Firefox. After the Force Quit box still wouldn't appear, I was able to shut down other apps and even able to restart the computer. Upon restart, once I tried to click an app on the dock, i'd see the icon bounce once or twice then just completely freeze. I'm able to move around the cursor arrow, but can't click anything.
This morning, I was able to open the Terminal (it never popped up in the dock for some reason) and did the 'killall Dock' command. At this point, my system started running real slow and I couldn't seem to double click anything. I had to cmnd + click 'Open' to get to the Activity Monitor. That opened, but then it froze and gave me the window pinwheel. I tried to force quit it, but it wouldn't quit. I had to hold down the power button to turn it off. When I tried rebooting, I couldn't even get to the Terminal anymore since now it would pop up in the dock when I opened it.
When I open mail the beachball appears. after about a minute it disappears. mail opens all greyed out. All I can do is to press option command esc to force quit the mail program.Â

When i click an icon on my desktop it doesnt open i have to click it more then once and sometimes i have to click rapidly fast and more then once for it to open.

I don't recall any software installations or setting changes I made, but its very possible I unknowingly changed something.
