View 2 RepliesWhen I play an online game, flash game or game like world of warcraft, at random times my mac (MacBook) will freeze up, everything on it, the sound will start skipping, the mouse won't move and the screen is skipping. I have gotten a new hard drive, and 1 gig of memory, but neither fixed the problem, I'm thinking more Vram seeing as this is what it is right now, VRAM (Total):64 MB of shared system memory, and that seems very low. But then again I'm not really sure what VRAM is. I've gone to a specialist and the Mac store and they both say they have never seen this and just gave me some BS and made me waste money buying more memory and a new hard drive.
View 2 Replies View RelatedEvery time I navigate to a page that has Flash elements into it (e.g. YouTube), Safari hangs and my computer beach balls. I can't view any pages with Flash elements in them (or at least pages that have multiple Flash elements) without Safari freezing and causing me to kill Safari through Force Quit.
To try to fix this problem, I reset Safari (resetting every available option), repaired permissions, restarted, and nothing worked. Then I used the Flash uninstaller from Adobe's website to uninstall Flash, then reinstall a fresh copy which did not work.
I reinstalled Snow Leopard, updated all of my system's software, and then tried to view [URL] and the same problem still occurred.
Now I originally thought that the Safari 4.0.4 update caused the problem. However - after I reinstalled Snow Leopard and updated to 10.6.2, I downloaded to Camino to see if YouTube would work, but to my surprise it didn't. The same exact problem I'm having with Safari (entire browser freezing when viewing a page with Flash such as YouTube) is also happening with a 3rd-party browser (Camino).
This leads me to believe that 10.6.2 may be the source of the problem (as I never had this problem with 10.6.1), not the 4.0.4. I cannot go on websites with Flash elements in them, even with a 3rd-party browser.
I have been suffering with this issue for a few weeks now. Any flash snippet on a page causing Safari to crash. I had tried everything to fix the issue. Reinstalling flash player, rolling back to flash player 9, changing my DNS servers, Removing all internet plugins, Firefox, running Safari in 32 bit mode, Terminal hacks...all to no avail. I recently was playing around with my desktop and changed the Name of my Mac HD. I then quit and reopened Safari and to my amazement this had solved the issue. Safari now running faster than ever before. Im not sure how exavtly it solves the issue but it sure worked for me.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy year old MBP is at the stage where it starts to slow down [most of the time in Safari/Firefox], the beachball appears [and doesn't go away], and then I have to forcefully restart the computer (no other apps will work after this). Only things I do/downloaded for my MBP are internet, MS office, Skype, and the apps that came with the MBP. So if Flash is causing the problems, what can I do? Reinstall it? I've never seen two browsers crash consistently, I would imagine it has to be Flash. Thoughts [as to what it could be if it isn't Flash]?
View 9 Replies View RelatedIt happens about once a day now with Safari. Sometimes it causes my MBP to crash. I know all the controversy about Apple and Flash, but is it this common? I do have the latest versions of Flash and Safari, but is the problem this ubiquitous or is there probably something I'm doing wrong with my 1 year old 13" MBP (4 GB RAM, 2.26 Ghz, 250GB)
View 8 Replies View Related I've recently upgraded to Lion and have found that Quicktime movies and embedded Flash movies won't work. With the embedded flash all I get is a black box, and with quicktime movies, such as the ones on the Apple website, I get nothing - the irony of not being able to watch movies on the Apple site with my Apple iMac gives me a little chuckle. Anyways ....... I've been reading thread after thread and trying lots of different things but nothing works. I've got this feeling inside that says it's something simple but just can't seem to find it.

A friend of mine is having trouble playing flash videos on his 1.33 GHz PowerBook G4 (256MB of RAM). He has version 7 of flash player and is unable to upgrade to a newer version.
View 2 Replies View RelatedA recent problem in the last few days...every time I open my web browser my machine is slowing down tremendously and I eventually get this message:
"A script in this movie is causing Flash Player 9 to run slowly. If it continues to run, your computer may become unresponsive. Do you want to abort the script?"
I'm using a Macbook Pro, Safari Version 4.0.3 (4531.9), and OS X v. 10.4.11.
I'm running 10.6.4 with the newest flash 10.1, and when I load a page on safari or firefox with a flash video on it on my iMac the scrolling on the page doesn't work and the video takes about 5 minutes before I can press play. I have tried running different versions or flash (uninstalling old ones and things) but nothing fixes it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI did a search for this, but couldn't find any recent posts with this strange issue. For me, some flash videos will load and others will not. Youtube works, for example, but other video site often give me a black screen with the spinning white "loading" message, but the video never loads. One thing worth noting: I've noticed youtube videos do NOT work when it tries to load an ad beforehand. However, if I refresh the page, the video loads, because I guess it assumes I've seen the ad once already, and therefore doesn't need to load it up again? I've tried repairing disk permissions, emptying the cache, deleting all cookies, and uninstalling and reinstalling flash. What might be causing this odd problem?
View 1 Replies View RelatedYoutube works extremely fast while NHL Gamecenter and Hulu drag along. Netflix also runs perfectly fine, and I can download at a consistent 5MB/S on Itunes. Also, my 5 year old PC plays Gamecenter and Hulu just fine. I have the latest version of flash player.
View 6 Replies View RelatedSo Ive been using macs for years, Ive also been watching flash videos on my macs for years, and up until about 4 months ago they very rarely crashed on me. It seems that recently something has changed, I dont know if its flash, or safari, or something else but my flash videos (especially in hulu) crash very often. In fact it seems that more often than not they crash now. Im not really upset about it because Hulu does not crash and I just switched my youtube settings to stream everything with HTML5 which seems to work...
But im wondering why this is happening, and why now? It (flash) worked so well for years, and on older machines like my old eMac... And now when apple is so visibly anti-flash my mbp is experiencing these crashes all the time... keep in mind my windows 7 machine is not having these same videos crashing... so whats the deal? Is apple messing with stuff in their latest builds of safari and or Snow Leopard to make flash less stable so users choose to break away from it? Or is this just a random bizarre problem that only I am experiencing? What are you guys seeing?
Some flash videos and particular sites cause my MBA to overheat and results in choppy playback, but for the most part the temp isn't a problem. Generally the temp is just fine, but as I progress through the video it gets more and more choppy. Eventually it's unwatchable. It doesn't matter how long I leave the MBA to rest/cool (minutes or hours) the playback is just as choppy when I restart.
I'm confused because I thought the playback issue was related to heat
Any ideas? My apologies if I've missed the answer in another thread.
I have been using this website. [url] to play some old videos of my favorite show... I was watching them today and It took a long time for them to stream so I let it load for like 30 mins and then played it. Some times it took longer. Some times it was really "chopped" playback... I thought if I uninstall the Flash Player and then Reinstall it, it would update and then load faster so I did. I finished the instalation process and then I go to the website and the video black box (where you would view the video and there would be a play button) wasn't even there anymore. Like I can't click on any video-type things. I don't understand what I need to do and I don't know who I need to ask about this... I really want to watch these videos. I tried to go to Youtube and see if it's all videos but it wasn't, just this website's.If it was working fine 4 hours ago and all i did was reinstall the Flash player thing then why would it not work now?

I've never really had a problem with my macbook, but for the last two weeks or so, I can't watch any Flash videos like YouTube. It'll work for about fifteen or so seconds and then the whole thing will start skipping and the whole computer acts choppy. Firefox (or Safari) CPU usage spikes, and the computer gets really hot. Then I'll have to wait for a minute or so for the macbook to cool off before I can use it. I've tried downgrading from Flash 10 to Flash 9 -- no better.
View 4 Replies View RelatedLately I've been having a lot of trouble watching flash videos.
I've tried emptying the cache, resetting Safari, repairing permissions, restarting my MBP and rebooting the router. Nothing works.
Basically, the videos play when they feel like it.
I press play and nothing happens. Videos just do not load.
this happens at least 2-3 times a day. I will click to go to a youtube video, or some video on a site. The download box will immediately pop up and it will start to download the flv file of the video i'm watching. It gets annoying, but it doesn't happen all the time.
is there any way to turn this off?
I'm fed up with all the good videos on a certain adult website disappearing after a couple of days. How can I download and save them to my MBP?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIt doesn't just happen on Youtube it happens on every website that uses Adobe Flash, I haven't seen it happen to anyone else but me. I have the latest version of Adobe Flash Player Installed and it happens on all the browsers, Google Chrome and Safari.Â
When playing a video the first second the image stops but the audio keeps going until they meet. I don't know how to explain this but what happens is the video begins first, then the audio and after that the video stops, the audio keeps going until it meets with the exact image and then both of them keep playing at the same time. This happens since I got my computer.
