so i have a guest acc on leopard and i had parental control on it and earlier i saw the logs in parental control panel on system prefereces i just wanna know how do u clear the logs? where do i delete them ? can i delete them using the admin acc?

When I try to open a folder it says I don't have privileges to do so. Also when I go to the users folder the other users don't show up. What can I do so that I can have access to these accounts? View 2 Replies View RelatedI had been trying to install software updates for about a week and each time after I typed in my admin password in the prompt, the prompt kept shaking as if the password was incorrect (which it wasn't because it's the only password I ever use so I know it by heart and the caps lock button was not on). I tried going to my System Preferences page and clicking on the Accounts button. All of the other buttons seemed to work just fine (Appearance, Desktop & Screen Saver, Dock, etc). But my Accounts page took too long to load (it was blank) so I just figured my computer was being slow since it hadn't been shut down in a while. I usually just let my computer fall asleep so that when I use it again, I can just shake the mouse and it would be ready to go. I guess that is what triggered it. I was on the computer last night doing my usual stuff. I didn't download anything funny, didn't try to do any more updates, etc. But my computer was running extra slow so I decided to restart it. When my computer got to the log in screen, my administrator account wasn't showing. I have 2 accounts, the admin and one titled "Guest". It automatically took me to the Guest user log in. But when I entered that password it kept saying the password was incorrect. I know the password and I didn't have caps lock on or anything so there is something wrong with my user accounts and passwords. How do I fix this? More specifically, how do I fix my user accounts and passwords when I can't log into my computer through a standard account and my admin account isn't even showing up?

I understand that in Single-User Mode you can delete the Admin account and therefore restore the machine, so that when you turn it on the next time and it doesn't detect any settings it gives you the Tiger intro, albeit annoying.

Trying to delete a surplus user admin account. Chose delete securely. It has been running for 24 hours and hence can't close system preferences. Should I leave it or try and force quit the process ..This is a new IMac running osx Mavericks

I was just on my computer tonight nd all of a sudden it restarted, upon rebooting it went to a safari-only mode with a webpage asking me to log into a wifi account and telling me to access Apple support.
- I cannot boot into safe mode, and any other mode I use just brings me to this same screen.
- Everytime I restart the computer it just brings me back to this screen and I can't log into my normal account.
- I also cannot access system preferences.
- If I close safari I just get a blank screen with nothing.
- Other solutions have suggested this is a 'theft' location procedure, if so, how do I 'deactivate' this? I have accessed my iCloud 'find my iphone' and there seems to be no way of disabling it.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI work for a company that has several Macs available for customers' use. These are basically demo-machines that they can play with, and at the end of each day, the machines are wiped and rebooted.
The way we do this is simple: the machines auto-login to the Guest account, which will wipe the account at the end of the day. Well, getting a few new Macs in this week, I simply copied over the entire Guest user account to the new machines to avoid reloading all the demo content, preferences, etc. And truthfully, the machines have been working great.
Except one thing. The computer keeps giving me that annoying message that says "Safari (or Finder, or System Preferences, or anything!) wants to use keychain 'login'". And asks for the login keychain password. Well here's the thing: the Guest accounts don't have passwords!
So I looked up a little bit on this topic, and did things like... Went to "Keychain List" in the Edit menu of Keychain Access, and deleted both the "login" and "system" keychains. No help. I went to Preferences in Keychain Access and said "Reset My Keychain". When doing this, however, it asks for the new password for the login keychain.
The problem with this is that I cannot leave the field blank! The Guest account doesn't have a password, so how am I supposed to not create a password?
I can't close system preferences and it won't do anything else. Did i do something wrong or is it normal?

I bought this new MacBook Pro a month ago. When I try logging into my guest account, it froze. I had no other alternative but to get out of it by pressing the power button. Then I tried open a new user account to see if it also has the same problem. Unfortunately it did have the same problem - froze after I logged in. I had done a harddisk check, there seemed to be no problem.

I just used migration assistant to transfer to my new macbook pro. When i was doing this i needed to set up a new account/user as the one already on my new macbook pro is named the same as the one i was migrating from. With me?
What i want to do is delete the ORIGINAL account and be left with the new one, i migrated over, as the sole account (bar guest account and whatever else is usually there).
I can't seem to see any option for deleting the original account, the minus option is faded out when i highlight the Original account in "Accounts" in the System Pref. window.
A freshly created account under 10.7.4. is a Admin account by default. The checkbox "Allow user to administer this computer" is grayed out. I end up with an Admin account and there is no way to convert this account into a Standard account. Facts: 10.7.4 - clean install on a current iMac i5 Freshly created account uses name of a deleted older account (my name)Repaired permissions several times (disk utility and "resetpassword utility" via terminal and safe boot)The older account had been relocated to a external disc for security reasons. There the access rights got corrupted so that I wanted to freshly create a new account and copy all files from a backup. how to create a new account for me?
