I have uploaded the pocket mac programme and have now tried to sync my Blackberry storm with the mac ( OS X 10.4 ). It starts to sync , but then i get a failed notice stating a problem of "skipping".
Can anyone tell me the best way to protect my Mac in a storm? The other night there was really loud thunder but I didn't see any lightning. I unplugged my charger from the wall after I heard one clash of thunder (really loud, but didn't see lightning, weird). I believe my modem got hit because it no longer works. I tried a different modem and it works fine. Anyway, what is the best option... UPS or surge protector? Or neither? And can anyone directly recommend me a good product to buy, or what to look for when buying one of these?
I am trying to setup my Blackberry Storm with my new 27" iMac i5. I have installed the latest Blackberry Desktop Manager. When I connect my Blackberry directly to the iMac USB port it says on the Blackberry that this USB port can't charge the blackberry. The iMac never indicates that it recognizes the phone.
I have a Nokia N78 cellphone which I can sync to my Macbook Pro using iSync. This works fine for photos, iCal, contacts but I what I would like to do is to be able to back up and view my sms on my Mac. Does anybody know if there is anyway of achieving this (free if possible)? If not, can anybody recommend a phone (other than the obvious iPhone) that has this syncing capability with Macs? I am looking to update my phone soon anyway.
A year ago I tested Spanning Sync for syncing my iCal with Google calendar. It worked out very well and I subscribed for one year (25 USD). Now there is version 2 around the corner that will add contact sync support. I have tried the beta and that works very well too.
My subscription is to end soon and I am thinking about extending. That would be another 25 USD for a year or 65 USD for life long subscription. Meanwhile I encountered another product called Busy Sync. I does almost the same (except contact syncing). With a coupon a single license per computer is 20 USD aka 40 USD for both of my macs.
I use iCloud for syning Mail & Notes. Contacts, Calendars and Documents & Data. I am 100% sure that in the past in iTunes/Info tab "Sync contacts" and "Sync Mail Accounts" showed all my different Address Book groups and different email account to be synced. Since recently they seem disappeared and I only see my different Calendars to be synced. Why are both Sync contacts empty and Sync Mail Accounts both emtpy/dimmed. BTW if I check Sync contacts I get a message that they are synced through iCloud etc. etc. Now if I enable on my Mac another email account in Apple Mail it is not added to my iPhone/iPad anymore. How can I change that ?

I have an iMac and a MBP. How do I keep them perfectly in sync? I'd like to have identical experiences when using both computers (files, settings, et al.)
What's the best way to keep contacts, setting, 1passwd, keychains, etc sync'd between both your desktop and laptops? I know that Mobile Me is good for contacts, email settings, etc, but what about other apps like 1passwd, etc?
So I finally got my app downloaded, but now it wont sync to my iPod Touch.
I checked the box to add it to my ipod, but then about halfway through the sync-ing process it dissapears off of my ipod page screen. Ive done this about 10 times, it wont sync. Im trying to load doodle army by the way. Im getting slightly fed up with apple at the moment. cant log on to my account one day, cant download from itunes the next, then i cant even use the programs ive paid for.
I just got a MacBook Pro and want to set it up to Sync on mobile me with my other macs (iMac, Iphone, the Macbook Pro this one is replacing, etc.) But when I go to Mobile Me in preferences and go to the Sync tab, it won't let me click the Synchronize with MobileMe option, and all the choices below are greyed out and unavailable.
I have a Gaming Desktop with Windows 7 and a (new i7) MacBook Pro that works great. I'm tired of updating my pictures, music, and other folders manually between my desktop and macbook pro. I want both of them to automatically update and sync with each other through LAN (not internet).
For example, let's say I go out with my macbook pro and I save this awesome picture in my 'Pictures' folder in OSX. Once I get home, I open 'some program I'm asking for' to check my Pictures folder on OSX and "My Pictures" folder on Windows. What this program will do is check both folders and copy whatever picture is missing... so basically the folders will be replicated and updated automatically.
Does this exist? It would really help because I'm sick of manually updating my files between my desktop and laptop. I know there are other methods but I find this the best for me.
this is actually my very first post on the MacRumors website. It seems very nice.
Ok so I run a 20" Apple iMac 2.66GHz with 2Gb of RAM. For Christmas I want to get the 1.4GHz 2GB RAM 11" MacBook Air.
This is kind of like a poll really- but I wonder how you guys sync. I have my MobileMe iDisk mounted on my desktop which I plan to use syncing to sync files. For iTunes and iPhoto I plan on using my phone as the "key" and just transferring everything. How do you do so?
I know this has been asked before but no one has answered. Does anyone know of any way to sync contacts between an LG Shine (CU729) and Mac OS X? Is it possible to put contacts on the MicroSD and then transfer them to the phonebook? I don't need an easy quick solution, I just need something that works. I have over 350 contacts and I don't want to type them all in.
I recently started my own business and have a MP (see my sig) at home where I do all my work. I have CS4, MS Office, MTR, Handbrake, Toast as well as Parallels with WinXP running. Under Windoze I have another copy of office (Enterprise 2007), Quickbooks Pro and several specialized apps I need for my business. For a variety of reasons, I'll soon be getting a 15" MBP. From a third-party I'll bump the RAM for 2GB to 4GB and get the new 500GB 7200RPM drive.
So, the big question is how do I sync up the machines?I need to make sure I've got the same apps (OS X and Win) as well as keep all the documents sync'd up.Initially, can I use Carbon Copy Cloner to clone my MP boot drive with all my apps, documents and personal settings to the new 500GB drive? What's the best way to do this initially and going forward?
When I try to sync a movie with my ipod touch it wont let me, the movie title is grey out. The format of the movie is correct and it lets me sync all my other movies. I have also tried this with my ipod video and I have the same problem.
I'm working on my Mac, but take my Macbook Air with me on travel. How can I sync all data (+email) from my Mac to my Air, so I have everything with me on travel.
10.5.8, 2.16 Core 2 Duo, 2 gb, Itunes 9.0.2 (25), iPhone version 3.0 on a 3G virgin (not unlocked/broken) I can't get my Iphone to sync or charge. I've uninstalled & reinstalled itunes several times, trashing the preferences and killing the itunes helper. I've reset the pram. I've rebooted multiple times with the iphone connected. I downgraded from itunes 9.1 and tried it all again but made no difference. The computer doesn't see it. The usb ports work with other hardware. The sync cable charges fine with the wall outlet adapter. Can't think of what else to do. Please don't make me go buy a blackberry. It will bring a curse upon my household and my children's children.
I would like to sync my ipad2 with my old mac as it has all my old song and photos on, but it does not recognize the ipad in itunes when plugged into the computer

I'd like to synch my Windows Outlook (Calendar & Contacts) with MobileMe, but I am not sure about what information will actually synch, and what information takes priority when synching. Will my contacts & calendar entries on MobileMe be synched/copied to Outlook as well, or will the Outlook contacts/calendar entries be added to MobileMe, and everything that is on MobileMe now will be deleted?
There is no option in the Windows MobileMe Control Panel to determine which one, MobileMe or Outlook, is the Default information to synch, and I don't want to lose the contacts on MobileMe.
I am particular concerned about conflicts, and how to determine which, MobileMe or Outlook, will override the other in case of conflicts.
Does anyone know how to synch Aperture libraries. That is have the same aperture libraries on an iMac and MacBook. My Aperture on the macbook is 1.5 and the machine is running 10.4.11 and the iMac 24" is running 10.6 with Aperture 2. I originally exported the library from the macbook and inserted into the library folder of the iMac. This library was then upgraded automatically to be compatible with Aperture 2. But now... how can I synch from one to the other, and vice-versa. Or am I expecting too much?
Can anyone recommend a good backup/sync tool with the following features: Sync 2 folders Support FTP Scheduler Rules (i.e. control over what gets copied)
I've tried Transmit (no scheduler) Synk (really confusing UI and would freeze when I tried to cancel a sync) AASync (kept crashing)
We have been syncing our iphones on our imac and now we have a macbook pro too. I did migration and transferred everything over to synch(at least I thought-same music, apps, etc) The record of back ups even show up on the mbp itunes. So when I went to sync the iphone it wants to remove all the folders I have set up. How can I sync my iphone on the new mbp without messing up all my work or organizing my apps. Is there a file I can transfer from the imac to the mbp?
Since the MacBook Air has limited hard drive space, I'm wondering - Would it be possible to "sync" things like music, photos, videos, etc. - like I can with my iPhone? I'm thinking I could sync the MacBook Air with my desktop, and take with me only the photos/music/etc that I want to travel with.
If I can't resist and buy the 11" air I'll have the air, a 15" i7 MBP, and a 27" iMac. Assuming I keep them all and use them for different reasons, how do I keep my data sync'ed between them all. Clearly I can't keep as much on the air, but I have a basic data set of docs (office type stuff, some graphics, some programming) that I'd like to be the same on all the machines.
